Guest ***GUEST_mrherd05 Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Congratulations on a great win Friday night. It personally made me sick to watch, it also made me sick to see how few Akron fans were left to enjoy it. You guys put on a nice show, congrats. Aaron Quote
Zipsrifle Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Thanks for the kind words. Yea, it made me sick with how many Akron fans left too. But, honestly, I don't really blame them. Let me see, how many games in the past 10 years have we been up late on good teams and lost ......A LOT. How many times in the past 10 years have we been down on good teams and come back to win.....0. Well, I think I see why everyone left. The new coaching staff seems to have done something to change this....I don't know what, but I'll take it. We made critical stands against Can't, UCF, and Ball State and, somehow, came back on you guys. It'll take a while to change the perception of the program in the area though. I figure we've got about 7,000 hard core that will be at the games no matter what. Quote

I figure we've got about 7,000 hard core that will be at the games no matter what. I think it is fair to say there were 29,000 people in attendance, but maybe 13,000 "fans." I love everyone that came out to see the Zips...but I can't really call the 10K that left at halftime "fans." It will take a while...and a lot of convincing...to create a real fan base. We took a quantum leap forward Friday night. I guarantee there were about 10,000 people in NE Ohio that were kicking themselves at 11:00pm that evening. They'll be back, and they'll probably stay a bit longer next time. We just have to keep the newbies "on the hook." Beat OU and they'll return for Miami. Beat Miami...and you create some real "fans."
