akronad Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Unfortunately, verbal committments are just that. Nothing, and I mean nothing is set in stone until "Signing Day". Quote
zipdiehard Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 I don't remember him being a "four star recruit" when we had him. I sometimes wonder if these services adjust the ratings based on who is recruiting them. Nice there is no mention of Akron either. Quote

Once they get the grades and the big schools will take them Akron is forgotten. Quote
skip-zip Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 I think just about everyone believes that they make the star ratings based on what schools are in the recruiting battle. It would be pretty difficult for so many high school kids to truly get evaluated. Quote

It would be pretty difficult for so many high school kids to truly get evaluated.A stat I heard this weekend was that 56% of the picks in the NFL draft's first two rounds this year were less than "3-stars" out of high school. Take it for what it's worth. Quote

Take it for what it's worth.I wouldn't doubt that at all. Stars mean nothing. Look at the offers a kid has. If he has offers from all of the big major schools, he is probably a player.Their are countless players that were unheralded that were #1 draft picks.Part of being a great coach is finding the diamonds in the rough.I could give you quite a few examples of 1 school, but I would get bashed for it so I won't bother.
