From the Miami site:

"I'll tell you about crAkron, it's a S***hole. They added a nice new rec center, some nice buildings, but it's still crAkron. That place sux. It resembles the Pittsburgh Pirates. You can build a new stadium, but it's still the Pirates. And that my friend, is crAkron, an absolute S***hole.

Now, football wise, Miami is BY FAR the better team. Their D is putrid as always, and has a lot of trouble tackling. We should be able to throw all over them. They have a nice O, but I don't think it was better than last years with Cherrie. crAkron has some Mo, but Miami really is the better team."

Their board moderator is funny. If you type "Akron" in any post text, it is automatically converted to "crAkron." The dude is clever...

They are whining about this over on the Miami board. Though I wasn't there last year, I was there when "Touchdown Travis" broke the TD record. I think this was one of the times LO complained to the MAC and then....LO got in reprimanded  I'll tell you what, it was such an obvious block in the back that even the "Blind to the Zips" Cleveland TV News ran a clip of it saying how amazing the blown call was. I have a feeling that the MAC officials will be on our side this game, I mean, Miami will be kicked out of DI-A soon since nobody goes to their games anyway.

The Cleveland Media STILL knows MU gets the calls

Don't worry, moll. I assume they're still seeking vengeance on behalf of Lee Owens.

We can empathize.

The word censor y'all like so much at MHT renders "Tim Rose" as "He Who Must Not Be Named."

There may still be an Owens filter in there, too. I can't remember what the gnomes did with that.

:unsure::rofl:

Hooooo Boy! I can't believe you guys missed the worst boner ever from Ellen Alex of the Cleveland Pla'in Dumb. "A MAC team will play a WEST COAST CONFERENCE team in the Silicon Bowl" (my emphasis added).

Golly, do you think it will be St Mary's or Pepperdine? Don't think Gonzaga or Santa Clara have teams, do they?

We love ya Ellen. At least your editors let you write stories on Akron U.

And BTW -- you RedHawk Squawkers. Tell Steve to cut out all that "trickeration" on his board. It leaves people all CON-founded. Kind of like how the Zips are due to leave another MAC pretender this Saturday nite. Dazed and confused isn't just the result of the Cap'n's home brew ya know. :CK_brew: Come prepared to take a good slug.

I don't think either Akron or Miami want to get into "attendance smack." I will say, as far as I know, this is the first time since the early '80s that we have been below 15,000. We had an opening game where they had to clear the stadium because of lightning, and didn't let anyone back in for 45 minutes. Our audited attendance for that game was a big zero. That opener was to be a sellout. Then, for homecoming, we had a steady, cold drizzle the entire game. Butts in the seats? 8,000. We sold more tickets than that. Then, we had some counting problems for the OU game.

No, our attendance has not been stellar, but it points to the problem with the stupid rule. I think it is good that schools like Miami and Akron are trying so hard to get more people to see their teams, but how many people watch you have nothing to do with your level of competitiveness nor your program's desire to win. If Akron went 11-0 this year, they'd still deserve the MACC.

BTW, if we're going to be the East rivals every year from now on, you're going to have to expect a little smack talk!

On another note, I'm glad Lee Owens is gone. It makes Akron a lot easier to root for (although I still don't root for you guys!). :P

The loss of Marshall creates a void in the East. I really hope the Miami/Akron rivalry fills that void. It should...with Marshall's departure your coaching staff now needs a fresh press box to smash, and we need a replacement MAC East opponent to slap around 2-out-of-every-three years! :P

All I know is, if the Zips win this Saturday, I'm staying the F away from the Miami staff when I rush the field! :D

=>What kind of team is Akron supposed to have next year with Frye gone? If BSU is to move to the East, Akron and Can't losing their star QB's, Ohio rebuilding, and Buffalo being Buffalo, I did not think anyone could beat Miami next season given the Redhawks lose very little.

Given that this is supposed to be a rebuilding year for Miami, I am quite happy with the season win or lose Saturday.

The Zips QB next season will be Getsey. He was slated to be the #2 QB at Pitt this season, but transferred to Akron in early September. Obviously, it will be a step down from Frye...but it is reasonable to expect it will be similar to the Roethisberger-Betts transition.

Our OL will take the biggest hit, losing 4 senior starters. But...the OL has been hot/cold this year. I can't believe the drop off will be too bad.

We lose Fuller, Blackburn and Agyeman...and LeFall on defense. Replacements shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I expect to be very competitve next season.

And, if you're happy with your 2004 season...you can't begin to imagine how I feel about ours!

My guess is that even if they did trash the press box, you probably couldn't tell. I'm with Cap'n too, stay away from the MU coaches....hopefully the goal post doesn't fall that direction.
