MAC Hoops Report: A New Postseason Tournament

In the Macreport, he talks about the alternate tournament to the NIT. If the Zips did not get an invite to the NCAA tournament, would the Zips turn down the NIT for the new tournament. I still am bitter about last years snub by the NIT and would be in complete agreement if the Zips were able to return the favor. I am confident the Zips will earn a NCAA bid and this will be moot point. I just want to see the NIT lose its status as the second tournament. There idiot selection committee is a joke and hopefully the undoing of their status.

That's a GREAT idea! It would be so cool if teams that got screwed by the NIT in the past declined invites and joined the new tourney.F CM Newton and his cronies.

While it may make a statement to "one-up the NIT" (see: Al McGuire, 1970), I may fear that instead of playing to see who the 66th best team is, we might be playing to see who the 98th best team is.I'm always a fan of more teams making the post-season, but if we're just going to have multiple tournaments, its always going to be one better than the other which is better than the other. The NCAA is better off to just add another round to the Big Dance, and therefore allow 128 teams to play for the National Championship.

you know, i completely agree with that, though i would rather see the Zips win this new tournament rather than even be runner up in the NIT. Just because it's winning something....ya know?
