Captain Kangaroo Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Funny thing is... his Jacksonville 2004-5 points and rebounding totals will still essentialy match those of his Akron 2003-4 stats. Click Here to Learn More About Antonio Cool Quote
Zips Win! Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Knee Injury? Really! I travel by air maybe 2 times a year and as I was boarding a plane from Atlanta to Akron on Friday evening, none other than B. Hip boards after me....... I just cannot get away from this guy!!! And he seemed to be walking fine so not sure the extent of this so called knee injury! Quote
2005PANTHER Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 Who knows maybe he does and it's not as serious as everyone thinks. I thought everyone was happy the Hipshers left but everyone is still talking about them. Quote
gozippers Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 Hey Captain, just wanted to let you know there can't be enough bashing the Hipsher's from you......you're fricking hilarous. We need to get together and come up with some more comedy about'em and post it. A little christmas present for all zip fans. Your from Akron right Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted December 6, 2004 Author Report Posted December 6, 2004 I thought everyone was happy the Hipshers left but everyone is still talking about them. Everyone is happy there are no more Hipsher's roaming the JAR. My blood pressure this season is 20 points lower this December than last December...I attribute that soley to lack of Hipshers @ The JAR. BTW: I wish none of the Hipsher's any ill-will. Mrs. Hipsher taught one of my friend's kids in Tallmdage and he couldn't say enough good things about her. Andy and Bryan were solid students. But...Andy's back robbed him of the skills to merit the PT his dad gave him...and Bryan never had the skills to merit the PT his dad gave him. Dad's coaching style wore on the fans as well as the players over the course of 9 years. Ooops...blood pressure just went up 10 points! Dambrot...Dambrot...now its down 2 points...no Hollingsworthless...no Tarver...two more points down...Futch and Wood lost a combined 80 lbs of fat...two more points down...Dambrot doesn't say "Well exactly, Steve" after every interview comment...down two more points...team is playing fun-to-watch, hard-nose defense...ahhhhhhhh back to normal blood pressure. Zips Win! Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Of course everyone's BP is down now that the Hipsher's have left town.....so to speak. But 5 games in and I see more of the same..... I hope things change fast. Score 88 under KD or 68 under DH and we lose.......this year at Drake. Not sure I heard any defense played. The offensive rebounding still sucks. We cannot hit a free-throw. Wood and Travis still have no shot from 7-10 feet. Four years later and the alarm clock still has not gone off for Meyers...and he starts. There is hope, however, as he only plays 2 minutes per game. We continue to start each road game down big.......hmmmm, who's the coach? And we are under .500 in conference play. Glad it's still December. We have a long-way to go. Quote

You're right about the results of the defense. We're giving up big points. However, we're getting a lot more turnovers and easy baskets. I'm hopeful we'll continue to improve. Wood has an inside game. Travis...wish his offensive progress was better. He struggles anywhere from 2ft out. I wouldn't worry about being below .500...there's still 17 games remaining? NIU is a tough road game to start off. Wonder what changes Dambrot will make for CSU? Time to shorten the bench a bit? Quote
zipfan maybe Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Maybe add to the lineup, not shorten it... take some out that are not producing, like Bubba, let him sit for awhile, I don't see what he is bringing to the game yet, unless he is on which is 50/50 Quote
Zip Watcher Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Uhhh .. Bubba actually brings about 10 pts / game (in about 18 minutes). That's significant since it puts him as our 3rd leading scorer. Up and down? Certainly .. but he can hit outside shots. I wouldn't substitute him for anyone until I see solid defense from the other options. Simple fact may be that our best shooter hasn't played much, but he's got to prove he's capable of being a shutdown defender. Bubba has been solid on D, as solid as most Frosh are .. and his size / quickness / and ape like arms help us on defense. Some of the other options are just too small & a step too slow to provide that type of D for 20 minutes / game. There's a role for every player on this team. Quote
zipfan maybe Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Who would our best shooter be? If he is our best shooter, why not give him a chance like Bubba is getting? Quote
Z-Pouch Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Who would our best shooter be? If he is our best shooter, why not give him a chance like Bubba is getting? Bubba is by far the best shooter. He is the reason we beat the Dukes. This kid is going to be a good one. Let him play. Let him shoot. If you are a fan of Hipsher's offense, you will not like the new Zips. They are going to be a team of spurts -- sometimes they look really good, others you wonder if they will ever score again. I hope everyone has learned from football this year. Give them and the new system time - this is far better then Hipsher's slo mo/no mo coaching. No need to get antsy. Give it time. What really matters is the shape this team is in for conference play and around MAC tourney time. Quote
zipfan maybe Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 I know there is a kid on the bench that shoots threes and never misses (from what I've seen) and has not been in the past 3 games, he could have really helped us this last game, not sure why he is not getting playing time... i think dru needs to shoot more and hand the ball over to mario more at point.... Zip Watcher Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 The guy you're talking about needs to prove he can defend at the D1 level .. and that's probably the main reason he isn't seeing significant minutes. Also, he doesn't have the ball skills necessary to create his own shot. With a good set shooter like that, the team needs to run plays / specific picks to get him open. At this stage of the game & season, they're not set up to accomplish that. The game is more than just pure shooting, or David Faulknor would be an NBA all-star. Quote

David Falknor was TWICE the player Bubba Walther will ever be! By the way...I caught up with Dave the other day. He's found the perfect gig for this time of year: Quote
zipboy Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 For my money, the most consistent shooter on the team is DP. We need to get him more touches. Quote
