Marty McFly
WOW...gutsy win. And we didn't play well. This probably assures us of no lower than the 5th seed since we now have a 2-game lead, and the tie-breaker advantage over BG. Win that game at Miami, and we could still get in for the #4 spotCorrect me if I am wrong, but as of right now, aren't the Zips sitting at the #3 seed behind #1 - Can't State (10-2); #2 - Western Michigan (8-3); #3 - Akron (8-4); #4 - Ohio (7-5); #5 - Miami (6-5); # 6- Eastern Michigan (6-6, own tiebreaker over BGSU); #7 - BG (6-6) #8 - Cent Michigan (5-7); #9 - Toledo (5-6); #10 (tied at 3-8, will play each other 3/4) - Northern Illinois and Ball State; #12 - Buffalo (2-9).If I am correct, this would mean that Akron would play the winner of Eastern Michigan and Northern Ill/Ball State (since they are technically tied for #10 and #11 as of right now)Winner of Akron game would play winner of West Michigan/BG/Northern Ill/Ball State in the semifinalsCan't State would play winner of Cent Mich/Toledo in the quarterfinals, and then winner of that game would play winner between Ohio/Miami/Buffalo in the other semifinal. skip-zip
Marty, I guess my point is that we are now pretty safely separated from BG (two game advantage, and the head-to-head tiebreaker), which was the only team left that could still conceivably get into the top 5 with Can't State, WMU, OU, Miami, and Akron. Sure, we would technically be in the #3 spot right now. But, we still have road games at BOTH Miami and OU. I was just making the point that our win today pretty much assured us of #5, at the very worst. My thought process now is that, if we can tack another loss on EITHER of those two teams at their place, we probably secure at least the #4 spot. And that's where we ultimately want to be. Blue & Gold
Let's go Ced! Do you think he's finally getting back to his old self? No. He won't be till about September. He's scheduled to have knee surgery when this basketball season is over. It's a shame.

I think that if we can get the third seed, that would be a momentum burst heading into the Can't game on 3/9 with J Wood coming back sometime around there, too.I also just wanted some to verify that I was looking at the seeding correctly. zipboy
As of right now, the 3 seed would be perfect. Zips will need to play lights out to beat Miami. If they win, I think the #4 is all but guaranteed since we beat Miami in the tie breaker. Nice win by Miami at Buffalo though.
skip-zip
And if we can beat Miami and get that 4th seed...guess what?...It means that Miami is likely the #5 seed, which means that we'd play them in the quarterfinals at the Q. We'd be in a similar situation as last year in that we'd have to beat the same team 3 times in one year. But, it would be kinda sweet to beat Miami in Cleveland and erase some bad memories. The #3 seed is ideal. It would mean that we'd be set up to play Can't State in the finals. People have been wanting to see a MAC final between Can't and Akron for years. zipfan 81
Brett McKnight starts, plays 10 minutes, goes 0-5, 2 turnovers, now you see why KD goes back and forth with him? Jimmy Conyers plays 1 minute, is he in the doghouse or what?

Jimmy Conyers plays 1 minute, is he in the doghouse or what? And that 1 min that Conyers played with around 5-6 min mark left in the game, which I thought was just give the backcourt a breather before the 4:00 min media TO.Brett played terrible. I believe that most of his shots were within 10 ft or so, and they were not even close. I have backed B McKnight for playing more minutes, but KD was justified in sitting him on Sat. Gotta earn the minutes, and set up when you get your chance, and for the first time this year, he didn't set up.
zipboy
It seems like he really presses when starting. B McKnights 2 starts were his 2 worst games of the year. I hope that we bring him off the bench against Miami although he won't get many open looks against them. Conyers and B Mcknight play the same spot. Conyers was only getting 10 minutes a game before. Those 10 minutes will probably get split between Jimmy and Brett.

The stat line said Brett was 0-5, however I only remember 4. All were good looks, they just didn't go in. Four years later I have still have no idea why Dambrot subs when he does. To me, there is so much better spacing on the court when Brett is in the game. He can preach defense all he wants. At some time you need to put scorers on the court.
