Guest ***GUEST_Z.I.P. Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 I listened to part of the game on delay via the Tommy Gehlerter Radio network. The kid's getting better, but has a ways to go still. And that's the same story with the WBB team. One thing that stuck out for Kelly's troup: Twelve players played at least five minutes. While some might see this as a positive sign of depth on the team, it seems to indicate also the inability to find a set lineup, even a month into the season. There just seems to be little consistency from individual players. On Tuesday, Jae Conn stepped up and hammered home four treys in leading her team. Nice effort. Where was Kreczkowski? Wasn't she on the MAC all-freshman team at Can't State? We really need her and her starting line to be ready night-in-and night-out. Contrary to some neighsayers, the team does have decent inside presence, and is out-rebounding opponents. But you won't win many games shooting the 32% that I believe happened vs Wright State. I haven't looked at the schedule, but I'm not sure who we play the rest of the way that will be easier to beat than the Lady Raiders. This is a team that traditionally acts as a patsy for Akron. They even laid down for Roxanne Allen's squad at MidPac Gym in Honolulu back in 2001, their last year under coach Lisa Fitch. Gee, do we play Niagara this year? That's another traditional whipping girl. Please get that first "W" under the belts, so we can storm the court and tear down the goal posts. Quote
Guest HoopsManiac Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Yep, 0-9 and soon to be 0-10 as they go to the unfriendly confines of Xavier. With the games to come it looks as if they will be searching for their first W well into January. I agree with the comment on not being able to find any consistancy. If your playing 11-12 deep into your bench you better be winniny by 30. Unfortunately the players seem that going to practice and spending 2 hours a day working on thier game is good enough.......it is good enough to be 0-9. Tommy..keep up the good work you're doing a great job for the Zips. It's difficult to call as many losses as he has had to do. Thank God we don't have to listen to the boys from BG do our games or I would never listen. A few bright spots for the Zips in the play of Little and somewhat from Holzer in the last few games but an inside scoring threat is still despirately needed. As if the coaching staff doesn't already know this. I had to have one for them last night after the loss and I'm sure they needed more than that. It did sound like the girls where playing hard but still having a massive amount of turnovers and unforced errors. The most consistent player seems to be Junior Krissy Marco who has been a pleasant surprise this season as she's suffered through several injuries. Good luck vs. Xavier------------------they're gonna need it. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 Zips women @ 0-9... "Wow." Quote
Guest women's bb former fan Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 Shouldn't the quote read "We have a women's basketball team? And they are 0-9? WOW" Quote
