Humpty Hitchens Is Tough

Recommended Posts

Thanks Mollaut .. were the guys he was up against headed to D1? Any big school players on the Ky side? He held his own in Cbus against Buford (not directly 1 on 1) .. but I'm curious to know if the Ky team had any high major guys on it.
=>Kentucky fielded a pretty weak team. Weakest I have ever seen in fact. They had two players who are walking on UK and 2 others who have been invited to walkon. A few other midmajor players and the rest D2, D3, NAIA, or JUCO prospects. Compare that to the Ohio roster. Ohio was up 60-34 at the half.RostersKENTUCKY BOYS Adam Delph; Lou. =>Saw him at the Ohio-Ky All-star game over the weekend. He is WAY TOO QUICK. A true jitterbug point guard. Defensively, he was hounding the Kentucky players. You all will enjoy him.
Thanks for the update mollautt! You mention that he is "WAY TOO QUICK," and you are spot on. But what I can't believe about his quickness is that in no way does he ever lose control of the ball - he maintains the dribble - with BOTH hands. Additionally, not only is he unimaginably fast, but he can stop and pop on a dime. It's not saying much, but he'd bust both of my ankles if I was trying to stay in front of him! Honestly, it's sick. He's one of the best high school players I've ever seen. For those Zips fans who haven't seen him play, imagine Jimmal Ball with less verticle leap, but a better left hand, and a much better outside shot. (No offense, Jimmal... you're one of my all-time favorites!)

I'm looking forward to Hitchens suiting up, but I've got to say, I'm worried about the numbers I keep seeing from him from the charity stripe. 3-7 in this KY/Ohio All-Star game and I know he missed some FT's late in the State Championship game. I seem to remember the announcers in that game saying he was somewhere in the low 60% range on the season shooting FT's. With all the trouble we've had over the last couple season with missed FT's this worries me. That said, Humpty is EXACTLY the kind of pointguard we need. Quick, confident, can create his own shot or set up others and the kid has straight icewater running through his veins. The last few seconds of that State Championship game were a thing of beauty. Every time I see the game listed on STO I try to watch it again.

i just dont see how we are going to see time for roberts, humpty, and steward.it will be a nice problem to have.it's hard to tell how roberts will do.i thought he did pretty good until the u-mass game.u-mass though made dials look bad also.we won't see a team like u-mass speed to many times next year.
