FromdaBurgh Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Hello Zip Nation:Check out this snippet that was written about Zeke's performance at the WV Jamfest on Scouts.com:MORGANTOWN, WVa. – Big men Zeke Marshall and Chris Braswell tangled at the Hoop Group Triple S Harley Davidson Shootout. Though his team was bounced, power forward Dante Taylor made his presence felt. Chris Braswell vs. Zeke Marshall – The presence of a 7-footer is one of the true game changing elements of the game. Marshall's size frustrated Braswell early. The Akron pledge would go on to accrue a bunch of fouls and block 11 shots. The light is flushing as he's getting aggressive at both ends and we expect him to be a true MAC impact player. As for Braswell, the savvy veteran began figuring out Marshall and had a fine showing. Braswell's a crafty guy and hung in there until he found the right formula in the paint. "We will not be scheduling them anytime soon." Atlantic 10 head coach after watching Akron commit Zeke Marshall I wish he would have included the fact that Zeke scored 20 points in this particular game. 18 points at his 3:30 game and 25 points in the Semi-Final game (which they played Wed. AM)WAIT THERES MORE..... I found THIS comment very, very interesting on a W.PA BE school's blog (who I will not name)...I think the staff definitely wants a defensive minded post player. They were front and center in WV at the Hoop Fest watching a Triple Threat team with several top big men (Chris Braswell, Talib Zanna, along with a couple young wing targets Pitt likes), but they were stymied at the rim by Zeke Marshall, who registered 11 blocks in the contest. Just thinking how he could fit in with Taylor being the physical specimen and Marshall the shot-blocker would be a nice 1-2 punch. Now, hoping Thomas Robinson is the answer. Although just in the 6'8 range, he is an aggressive shot blocker and hig motor on defense and the glass. How much has his recruitment taken off? He was a player with a single A-10 offer this spring...now, he has the attention of Duke...I just LOVE IT...LOVE IT....LOVE IT!!! Quote
ziplock Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Did I hear Duke?I think the "Duke" comment was in reference to Thomas Robinson, at least by way of the verbiage in the snippet. But, the comments about Zeke are WAY BEYOND encouraging. He is competing against some major talent in these tourneys.Go Zeke!! Go Zips!! Quote
Blue & Gold Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Thanks Gamechanger!!! Go Zeke! Go Zips! Can't wait to see Zeke in the blue & gold LBJ/23's!!! Quote
GoZips Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Mom, I had a nice chat with coach Boals Thursday afternoon. JB told me about Zeke excellingat the West Virginia Jamfest. JB said Zeke played much better at the Jamfest. How Zeke took Braswellto the woodshed and owned him. The Zips coaching staff is quite pleased with Zeke's progress.I think the A-10 coach's comments are echoing all over the place. Fortunately for the Zips they arehooking up with some big time opponents over the next three-four years. A-10 teams should be mereappetizers on the Zips menu.Lasagna power ... !!!! Quote
MDZip Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Zeke's a smart guy (as shown by his choice of major) - any chance he can graduate right now? We can't wait another year and a half to see him. Some of us are getting old already. Of course five years from now (I hope) we'll all be whining about the Zeke era being over. Quote
FromdaBurgh Posted July 18, 2008 Author Report Posted July 18, 2008 MDZip you are a riot... Zeke is doing very, very well and I am sooo pleased with his progress. How about this...I received a call from a coach at Western Kentucky last night..and when I told him that Zeke had already committed to Akron..he had the audacity to say: "Oh..I didn't know that"..now either he is really, really STUPID or he thought that I was, either way..my comment after hanging up the phone was...Dude..have you ever heard of the freakin INTERNET...its not like it hasn't been written about a thousand times...and every time somebody talks about Zeke they preference it with "AKRON RECRUIT"...DDUUUHHHH !!!! Just say NO next time...Geeezzzz.... Quote
