  1. I would love Akron to be in…but in all honesty…how could they be in? If you can’t make your conference top 4, that is bad. Especially with so few teams in the MAC. I’m not sure they deserve it, no matter their RPI. That being said I hope they make it, but if they don’t they only have themselves to blame.
  2. Did we get a penalty kick? At about 80 minutes live stats said we were awarded a penalty kick but it didn’t seem like we actually took one? Thanks.
  3. Let me copy off of Top Drawer Soccer - AKRON IS BACK!!! Great game by both teams - a draw is a fair result but if we continue to improve - watch out!! Great crowd and atmosphere - it was a fun night. Go Zips!
  4. AkronRick - the scrum at the end started with above described situation. In my opinion the ref let the game get out of control. Pitt was constantly complaining and it just got gradually worse. The end was just a carryover from something that should have been taken care of during the game. #19 is an aggressive player and he is a good player - but his actions were pathetic.
  5. On a positive note - very good win in spite of the ref. He let the game get out of hand and the Pitt coach didn’t even try to contain his players at the end. Go Zips!
  6. .#19 of Pitt is a dirty player. He took out our #10 and while our guy was on the ground called him a fuc….. puss….. and believe me that wasn’t the only incident. #19 this message is for you - Go home - loser.
  7. TennZip I agree with almost everything you say - but the Nick Scott goal was a bad cross that just happened to turn into a great shot. I won’t complain though. Beautiful night to watch soccer. Hopefully a big crowd for the next game.
  8. Just watching the stats it looks like they were dominated for the first 65 minutes or so. What changed? They really came on strong.
  9. Wow, Akron looked good. Crisp quick passing, quick switching of the field and speed. Great start!
  10. zippypitt I agree with you. Colin scored a huge goal vs Stanford on the way to the College Cup vs Stanford but over the past two years he has disappeared. Good luck to him but we will be fine without him.
  11. 3-0 down? Wow.....this season can’t end soon enough.
  12. Does anyone know the current policy on fans? I thought it was parents only but today’s game looked like there were more than just those individuals. Dewine is increasing the limit for fans with the pro teams in Ohio....why can’t Akron do the same?
  13. Agreed - and Shookalook as well. I don’t think Jackson is capable of scoring enough goals using only his left foot.
  14. That is disappointing.....Summit County probably won’t change anything until 2022. Why can’t you be outside with a mask? Family can’t even watch? That is ridiculous.
  15. The MAC I believe was 3rd or 4th in the RPI last year, so no it isn’t a cupcake league as it used to be.
  16. It appears SIU-E is leaving the MAC. Is it time or is it possible for Akron to move up to another conference for soccer? https://www.siuecougars.com/sports/m-soccer/2019-20/releases/20200612q53qye
  17. Looking forward to the season my 10 year old son built this off of his memory of First Energy Stadium. Go Zips!
  18. Soccer recruiting is completely different than football recruiting. I’m not sure of the exact numbers but I would guess if you would look at the top 25 high school soccer players only probably about 20-25% actually go to college while the remaining go pro in some capacity. College soccer recruiting is different than when Porter was here and most of those same high schoolers went to college albeit for a year or two. I think college soccer recruiting is similar to college basketball recruiting. College basketball recruiting is changing and now some of the top high schoolers and going to the G-League. Even if you get a 5 star recruit in basketball they will only be in college for a year. So that is what makes it so difficult to recruit in the college soccer game. Top kids are going pro and also the college soccer game is different than the pro game. One other item, you don’t even get 11 scholarships in college soccer, it is something like 9.1 or some strange number like that. So here is the dilemma, go after the few 5 stars and 4 stars that make it to college but knowing that they won’t be in the program long or go after the 3 and 2 stars and try to develop them because they will be in the program longer. Also one key here is foreign players. If you get a foreign player they might be able to get a scholarship under a different program than a soccer scholarship which keeps a scholarship for another player. In addition the foreign academy system is significantly better than any US system. So if you notice that is why there are a bunch of foreign players playing college soccer. They aren’t quite good enough to go pro in their country but they can continue to play in the US and get an education and maybe play in then MLS one day. Lastly, the college recruiting sites are a crapshoot. Unlike college football recruiting in which a recruit is analyzed and analyzed and analyzed at a young age, there really aren’t that many websites that have the money to actually rate recruits. So sometimes I would take the star number with a grain of salt. That being said I completely agree with you and wish we would get more 5 star recruits, I just think that is a thing of the past even for a good college program. I am curious to hear other thoughts on this.
  19. Agreed - let’s talk one day at a time. Last season was disappointing....I get it but don’t jump off the ship yet. Someone can correct me if I am wrong but aren’t we (and Stanford) the only teams that have been to the final four 3 of the last 5 years? Let’s support our guys - this is going to be a good season hopefully JZIP you won’t miss out.
  20. Will Jackson had both goals. He scored 2 all of last year or am I missing something?
  21. I agree - if you want to be a pro - come to Akron.
