Six-nine Mike Hughes has arrived on campus. Unlike Micheal Oher of The Blind Side fame. Akron's Big Mike likes being called "Big Mike". How do I know? I asked him. You are going to enjoy this young man. Big Mike is personable, friendly and an all round nice young man. Starting Monday next Big Mike and the rest of the players begin their Summer one-on-one drills. Big Mike is almost a carbon copy of Big Dog. A tad shorter and forty pounds lighter, yet one huge human being. There is not any room in the paint when Dog and Mike are on the floor together. They can almost block out the sun. Big Mike looks to be in decent shape. Which is good news. The Zips players have already taken him under their wings. He fits in as a Zip already.

The RPI is a scapegoat for teams who don't play anyone big and don't beat anyone big. But who want to act they're big. People who care about the RPI are the same ones that paint their faces and wear costumes to watch the NFL draft. The 2015-16 Zips had an outstanding RPI year. On the court, we couldn't beat the worst Ohio State team in memory. OU recently sandwiched two 3-deep runs in the CBI and CIT around a 10 win season. Nice job. You aren't in Northern Iowa's league. You're in Akron's.
