  1. This may be good news for the MAC, so it can keep its automatic bid to the tournament, but it does not make the MAC stronger. This only allows the MAC to survive in soccer.

  2. But for most ADs its is easier and more convenient to cut the dead weight, rather invest in it and not get a return for a decade or so. Im glad our AD took the stand to invest in a soccer stadium in 2011. Hoops Family Field opened in 2013. Our AD invested in something a lot of Marshall fans questioned. He then hired what was the best DII HC in the nation in 2017. That investment paid of with a National Championship within 8 years. Soccer was on the chopping block in 2003. Marshall had to cut a men's sport to be Title IX compliant. Men's soccer was right to be in the discussion to be cut. Even then Marshall only had 9 winning seasons from 1979-2003. The day before it was to be cut the Huntington Herold-Dispatch and Charleston Daily Mail and Gazette were "anonymously" tipped off (Asst AD at the time and former soccer player at Marshall). After about a month of pressure from the Huntington community, the soccer community and enough bad publicity from the 3 papers the AD had enough pressure he couldn't cut soccer. Ultimately men's track and field was cut. The Marshall BOG had an emergency meeting today to give Chris Grassie a new contract. Marshall BOG Approves New Contract 1,878,750 for 5 years or 375,750 pr year

  3. That is a good question and I honestly have no clue. I suppose we'll be for certain come this fall!

  4. Previous two secondary coaches: Jamael Lett - offered ST Coordinator/defensive assistant position by South Alabama. Jonathan Cooley hired by LA Rams as defensive assistant. Clearly their peers do not seem them as inadequate. The evidence will be pretty clear when we see him play this season, however. By the way, got a link to Abraham Alce's college stats since he's left Akron?

  5. Tough to find too much out there, but looking at his twitter, had an offer from FIU and some FCS teams from JUCO. A couple more FBS offers coming out of HS.
