there are some balls remaining, but i believe they are being used for promotions when Can't State visits Rhodes Arena, and other kids club promotions as well. Let's Go Zips, CMU Saturday Then Ball State Tuesday! Defend Your Home Floor! This Is Our House! No one, and I mean no one, comes into our house and pushes us around.

if it is the blue tickets that all of the kids got, we gave away basketballs to all of the kids who came back with the blue ticket for that night's game. we were setup at the info desk when you first walk in the main concourse. also there were two announcements made during the game, and it was posted at the team shop. Let's Go Zips, CMU Saturday Then Ball State Tuesday! Defend Your Home Floor! This Is Our House! No one, and I mean no one, comes into our house and pushes us around.

This kid is 6'2" 200 lbs. and runs a 4.60 right now. I'm not sure where i see this kid ever playing QB for the zips, especially with the lack of performance i see in hs numbers and what i ave seen. posibly a wideout since that is his secondary position, but speed could be a concern. possibly saety or cover corner? doubt it.

i've been reading some background on a big list of recruits and prospects for the 04-05 zips recruiting class. this guy could step in right away and make an impact on either side of the ball. Here is a picture of him below; if you guys can find any pictures on any of the recruits we are looking at that are not at rivals or theinsiders, please post them. It gives all of us a great idea about what we have coming in and gets some early excitment brewing in the zip zone.

i just wanted to say that this season has been a great way to show the students how much the university of akron cares about the state of the athletic department and the university wide academics. before my first class started this fall it was often mentioned of what students would be doing on saturdays instead of going to the football games, soccer games, or volleyball for that matter. mostly studying, working, or watching other games on tv. this semester there has been a new attitude with the coaching changes, new rec center, new student union, and even the faculty and staff are getting behind the athletic program. personally it has been great for me to have many of my peers tell me that they enjoy going to the games, and how they didn't expect the fun atmosphere that they have been experiencing this fall. it has been a blast to bring a crew of 20+ to every event that i have attended and show them where zips athletics is headed. namely our men's soccer team has shined this fall earning a MAC championship, and the big money sport, football, has put on a terrific, exciting performance this season. this football team has single handedly put faith, passion, and hope back into zips athletics ( in the eyes of the student body, for me it started a while ago with a couple of keys hires and signings). That's my 2 cents for the day.... GO ZIPS!!! THIS ONE'S FOR YOU!!!

hey fellow zips, it's been a while since i have made a post on here because of time and other issues that have gone on, but i will be there in full effect for the game, whether i will be doing program sales or just being able to partake in some good tailgating and being one of the students! However, i still fully keep up with everything that goes on here, and have seen a few references toward me here and there. (anonymously) I am still not sure what i'll be doing until saturday so it could go either way for me! If i do get a chance though, i will make sure and try to find all of you on the board and throw one (or six ) down with you. WAR ZIPS! WAR FILLING THE BOWL OF RUBBER! ANYONE GOING OT THE JIM ROME TOUR STOP IN CLEVELAND??? Get at'em fellas -HOUSE-

PER GOZIPS.COM!!! http://gozips.collegesports.com/sports/m-f.../042604aaa.html Two Former Zips Ink Professional Football Contracts Wide receiver Matt Cherry agrees to two-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars April 26, 2004 AKRON, Ohio - Former University of Akron football players Matt Cherry (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) and Rickey McKenzie (Elkhart, Ind./Concord HS) will continue their playing careers in the professional ranks as both agreed to contracts over the weekend, Cherry with the Jacksonville Jaguars and McKenzie with the Montreal Allouettes of the Canadian Football League. Cherry spoke with several teams before agreeing late Sunday night to a two-year deal with the Jaguars that will team him up with former Marshall quarterback Byron Leftwich. Cherry joins draft picks Reggie Williams and Ernest Wilford, as well as fellow free agent signee Allen Suber at the wide receiver position. He will report to Jacksonville on Thursday for the start of minicamp. One of the most prolific receivers to don a Zips' uniform, Cherry set a single-season record with 66 receptions last season, totaling 904 yards and four touchdowns and earning second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors. He also holds the career receptions mark with 149 and is second in career receiving yards with 1,997. A double threat on the field, Cherry ranked 11th in the nation in punt returns with a 13.3 yards-per-return average and two touchdowns. He shares the school record for career punt returns for scores with three. McKenzie will report to the Alouettes' preseason camp on May 15. The CFL regular season kicks-off on June 19 and runs through October. A second-team All-MAC selection, McKenzie finished the season tied for second in the league in interceptions with six. His 11 career picks ranks tied for sixth in the Akron record books. He also totaled 72 tackles in 2003, 51 of which were solo stops. With the addition of Cherry, the Zips now have six former players currently on NFL rosters. Cherry joins Jason Taylor (Miami Dolphins), Dwight Smith (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Jake Schifino (Tennessee Titans), Konrad Dean (Frankfurt Galaxy- NFL Europe) and Ryan Myers (Scottish Claymores- NFL Europe).

here is what Jabari told me this morning... this season he will most definetly be at wideout... YAY! also he be 2nd on the depth chart at QB! the coaching staff really wants him on the field anyway they can to utilize his size, talent, and speed. This is straight from the horse's mouth. Also, the entire defense that was shown on friday night a jsut to see how certain players would fit into situations, not exactly WHERE they will be playing. i do hear that the D will be playing 4-3 and 3-4 against specific teams and offenses. Don't warry about case getting to the ball... he has been nothing but a magnet all spring playing at LB and some DE. they are really looking forward to some of the incoming freshman to make impacts and gives these vets a run for their money. GO ZIPS! GO A-K-ROWDY!

i'll be there for sure
