He does that, but he needs to get his 3 point field goal percentage up.  Last I checked, he was 2nd in the MAC in attempts but 15th to 20th in percentage.

He's shooting 36.1% from 3. That's still above average. If he was a MAC team, Trimble would be 3rd in the MAC in 3P%. He had a pretty abysmal performance down in Florida, like several other Zips. You take those games out and he's shooting a pretty elite 40% from 3 with his 1/6 performance game against OSU being his only other clunker.

Ali trying to do way too much.

I agree, but his play the final 10 minutes is what brought us back into the game. I really feel without Freeman being productive on the offensive end and no Trimble, Ali felt he had to put the team on his back tonight. That's why his slot selection was so poor those last 2 minutes

Time to call it a night.   Out-played by a deeper, tougher, smoother team.

Idk if they were really deeper. They just had the two best players on the court. Sears may end up winning MAC POY. Akron desperately needs more players that can create their own shot.

Arth may well land a decent position in football and be very successful.  Being a D1 football coach was just not right for him.  Wherever he ends up I wish him well as he does seem to be a good guy.

Yes, just because he was a terrible FBS head coach doesn't mean he can't succeed as a QB coach.

Does it exclude the games vs Point Park and Wheeling? We are 8-3 and Buffalo is 6-6. Seems odd that we would drop after beating Buffalo and they'd move up a spot??

The NET only includes D1 vs D1 games in the numbers. The Net rankings are released new daily. I think we were in the 170s prior to beating Buffalo so we did climb 25 or so spots with the win. Buffalo WA ~100 before the game so they fell a similar amount.

You don't see much movement here because these previous and current rankings are based off the changes related to the Sunday games. Since no MAC schools played yesterday, there wasn't much impact. Had you looked at the rankings Sunday morning, you'd have seen the large changes in Akron, UB, etc.

I think I may have finally contracted it.  It's not hitting too hard. Slight headache, slight body ache, stuffy nose, slightly sore throat.  Certainly not a big deal.  (Presently. I suppose symptoms could become worse. Idk.)  But I'm planning on just chilling at home till I'm over it.  Is that typical protocol?  Or am I supposed to go to the emergency room & have them check if it's actually COVID?  Or buy a home test kit... and report it to someone?  How do they get these numbers?  I've only ever gone to the emergency room once in my life from having the flu.  I just always hunker down & ride it out.  That year the flu hit me MUCH harder than whatever I have now.

Unfortunately I still have my senses of smell and taste.  When I inevitably contracted it I was hoping to get back to 190 but it doesn't look like that's going to happen 😂

I wouldn't go to the emergency room. You don't want to expose others to it if you have it. Not to mention the long waiting times. Just before Thanksgiving I was a close contact and was feeling a little sick. I didn't think I had covid (which turned out to be accurate), but wanted to make sure as the last thing I wanted to do was give it to my family on Thanksgiving. I scheduled an appointment with The Liberty Clinic in Belden Village for a rapid test. I didn't even have to leave my car. They ran someone out to me to test me. My insurance also covered the cost. It took all of a few minutes.

You can do an at home test too, but I don't have any experience with that.

Not really. I have multiple vaccinated employees that have caught Omicron. That includes me.

I believe Clark is referring to the ones that are getting covid severe enough that they need to be hospitalized. The numbers I've seen reported range anywhere from 66%-85% of hospitalizations are from the unvaccinated.

I'm curious the argument as to why this entity is eligible to be a non-profit.

It's because they're paying them to volunteer at local charities.

Edit: Or I should say that's what they're claiming to the IRS that way they can get non-profit status and remain NIL compliant. Most teams do charitable work anyways so its not really requiring anything additional from the athletes.

    Schools can't pay nil money.

NIL has just moved money around and brought it into the open. Years ago, a player would get clothes, a car, furnished apartment, ets valued at $80,000.  Today, they get the money and they can buy their own.

Schools can't pay it directly, but there is already a non-profit setup to pay each Texas scholarship offensive linemen $50k. The university itself isn't paying it, but you know the coach will be advertising that when recruiting a linemen.

  10. The TP giveth and the TP taketh. I feel the programs at the G5 level that will do well are the ones who embrace it instead of trying to hold onto the past. The NIL money is going to attract the same players to the same P5 blue bloods. Difference is an o-lineman might sign with Texas instead of OSU since Texas offered them 100k while OSU only offered 80k. Regardless that player was never going to come to Akron anyways.

NIL really only becomes an issue if NIU, Kent, Toledo, etc. starts raising significant funds therefore becomes more attractive to recruits.

Good call.  Also, with the transfer portal and the extra year of eligibility for many players created by the NCAA in response the Covid, HS players are getting pushed down in farther in the process as there's less and less roster room.  In addition, teams on the level UA recruits often have to wait for the recruiting processes of the "better" programs to flush out as kids UA may be chasing are waiting to see what may open at a P5 of more prestigious G5 when offers are accepted or rejected by higher level recruits.

    Best Regards,

Yes, that CB we got from WVU is a prime example. He played a decent amount as a true freshman, but didn't see the field much the past 2 years. He comes to Akron and we get 2 years of eligibility out of him. I'm assuming he'll start both years. Tying up scholarships on redshirts doesn't make as much sense now that you can bring in transfers that can play day 1.

ouch. it's like we're not even participating in football.

Our 3-27 record over the past 3 seasons would support this claim. Going 6-6 while finishing 6th or 7th in the MAC is no real accomplishment. It would be for Moorhead's 1st or 2nd season as he's starting from ground zero, but eventually the goal should be to win 8+ each season.
