  1. I'm sure you all appreciated that I didn't have a "we are doomed" meltdown tonight. Nice crowd. No gimmicks. Just folks wanting to see good basketball. BG probably didn't feel the loss of Frye v Toledo, but it hit them hard tonight. Turner has an early turnover doing the work Frye would be doing.
  2. Well that was a crap start.
  3. Other side, Zips staying out of foul trouble and keeping them off the line.
  4. But BG came out if that debacle with only one point. Sure would feel better with 9 point lead. Good minutes for Dawson . X needs to step up
  5. Oh yeah. Hes also like 90% from the line when he gets there
  6. Cold from 3. Long night ahead
  7. Lots of orange in the crowd. Some even sitting where the Canadians used to sit: section 1-A. Otherwise not sure about the crowd. Jayden has new hairstyle. Banks dressed.
  8. Is Elton gone from PD? There is no Zip coverage. It's all OSU all the time. ABJ seems solely focused on the local teams.
  9. Big day. Big game. Excitement is building!
  10. I will take those odds. I have no idea what to expect other than Zips haven't had it going well these past four games. If they beat Ohio and EMU by one, hoe can the be expected to beat BG by 8?
  11. I don't expect the whole enchilada the third year into Groce's tenure. BG had 31 points off bench against Toledo and that was without Frye. But going into two long haul back to back road games in the Michigan wilderness a win here is crucial. Toledo didn't have time to set up for a Frye-less BG. Groce and company will certainly have a plan for that.
  12. Ball screen?
  13. https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-matthew-cherry-oscar-best-animated-short-film-20200210-na4r7pmv6nbdfjc4qllgm3ja2a-story.html U of A mention.
  14. Looked at BG message board. No answer on what happened with Frye. Maybe girlfriend problems? Anyway...they see this as biggest game of season for them. They haven't won at the JAR since March 1, 2009. Akron crushed them at JAR late last season, but I think Huger tanked that game by benching and resting his top players. They had already locked up a top 4 seeding. Huger is a tough customer. Lots of turnover on that team as he rebuilt it. I expect this to be an incredibly intense game with another all out assault on LCJ.
  15. He won!!! They showed the short subject before the basketball game yesterday. I knew it would win. Those paying attention were enthralled. Tearjerker...in a good way.
  16. Didn't think about that being the reason LCJ fell. Groce out-coached Murphy at the end: 1. Murphy screaming at players instead of encouraging them. 2. Not keeping 2 guys at basket to grab a likely missed free throw. 3. Calling timeout after his guy missed FT and give Akron opportunity to set up a play. 4. Didn't NCState do the same thing to Phi Slamma Jamma. Keep fouling and play the odds.
  17. The Zips haven't had like a really awful/head scratching game this year in the MAC. Yesterday was on the verge of that but for X and Channel being heroes and 15 seconds of solid play. Maybe without BGs Frye, LCJ can get back in the groove.
  18. Ref made signal of a jump ball and called it a game.
  19. Word. I said the same thing to the folks around me. "That damn zone is more important than anything else." In Groce's interview with Frenchy after the game, he said they were playing the odds that EMU would miss FTs. Why did Murphy call timeout when Akron didn't have any and his player was on the line?
  20. should be the last shot by X
  21. Ever since the T Shirt cannon to the face, im not good with data.
  22. That was awful. When they were down by 6 with 50 seconds left or something, I wanted to leave but was blocked in on either side. You could never predict that outcome. First time a Zips team got lucky in a long time.
  23. Zips beat NIU. i'm looking at losses and not wins because of bye weeks and CMU missing a game with Miami. Toledo beat Ohio.
  24. Tie-breakers are coming into play. CMU beat BG which gives them the TB over Akron for now. Miami beat Eastern Michigan and Kent State beat Buffalo. Toledo and the Jacksons are going on the road as of now. At this point, impossible to predict how this will play out. 1. BGSU would meet Western Michigan/Toledo winner 2. CMU would meet Buffalo/Ohio winner 3. Akron would meet Miami/Kent winner 4. Northern Illinois would meet Ball State/EMU winner 5. Ball State 6. Kent State 7. Buffalo 8. Western Michigan 9. Toledo 10. Ohio 11. Miami 12. Eastern Michigan
  25. Muncie and Whitford lay an egg in Kalamazoo. MAC is a mess!
