  1. I can't stand it when they start shooting these despartion threes. They are ahead. They should go for an easy two inside after wearing down the clock.
  2. That bugged me too. U_Ass radio is streaming though.
  3. Holy sweetness. I just happen to be going to florida for spring break. Freakin sweet. Anybody have a line on cheap tickets?
  4. Personally I think the reason Akron lost was that they got out hustled nearly the entire game. They got down so early because Can't moved much faster to every loose ball, every fast break, and every play. Anytime I saw Akron hustle they scored an easy point, especially down the stretch. I loved how much effort they were putting into their game the last 2 minutes. If they can learn to put half that much effort into every play, they would be damn near undefeated this season.I don't know how many times I saw Akron set a great screen and Can't defenders doubled the dribbler and left they guy setting the screen wide open. In the first half, we -never- once took advantage of this. The guy wide open would stand there with deer eyes, watching the guy with the ball futilely trying to get around the double-team. If the guy coming off the screen cuts to the basket and gets the ball, he has an easy two every time. I counted at least 10 times I saw this in the first half where Akron never capitalized.Akron did get about 2 of these plays in the second half to my relief. At least they finally noticed. The bald ref was truly horrible. I saw him call a foul on Wood when he was on the other side of the court with both teams blocking his view. The other two refs didn't call a thing, and I even caught them glancing over to him as if to saw "wtf?". I thought this ref was going to start swinging at KD too, as he would go out of his way to get into Akron's huddle at a couple timeouts to get in KD's face. Anybody else notice this? The end of the game gave me a lot of hope though. If it comes down to Akron/Can't in the finals, I want to see Akron with the full court press. Can't couldn't handle the pressure at all late in the game. If we jump on them hard early and keep the pressure up, we have the deeper bench to tire them out. The only problem is getting the players to be intense before the game is 'on the line.' I don't see the Zips shooting this bad again.
  5. The more I look around the plans on the University's Website, the more I get the feeling that the dorms surrounding the stadium may not be ready by the same time the stadium is...if at all. And even then, they are still about $8 million short. While I am sure that last $8 mil will fall in place as the construction starts, I cannot find any mention of funding for the dorms that surround the stadium drawing. Maybe I am not looking in the right places, but has anybody found anything mentioning the cost for the dorms and their expected completion date?
  6. I am absolutely thrilled with everything I have seen so far, with the exception of parking. The University seems to be happy with what they have now, stating that they have 10,000 parking spots already. But everybody knows how hard it is to find a spot during the day. Just think how bad it is going to be when the stadium is sold out, plus all the students who park long-term need a spot.I'm a little surprised that InfoCision paid for the stadium name, but at the same time I have it on good authority that Goodyear is no longer on good terms with the University so I guess it isn't that surprising. All the drawings just look fantastic. I can't wait for game day now. I really hope that we can get out of the mind set though that any side of the stadium is the "visitor's" side. This is a D-1 school in the top tier of its conference. East, West, and Endzones should be all HOME seating. I would love to see more than anything the Akron community come out and fill the stadium regularly so that the away team can never have any real fan showing in our backyard.
  7. Didn't Ohio St only seat 10-20k when the 80k horseshoe was first built? Now they sell out over 100k. I'm not saying aim as ohio st did, but if Akron made a -good- 50-60k stadium, I don't have a doubt in my mind we would see it sold out at least a few times in a decade. And if Brookhart actually gets that team settled and wins more championships, there will be a need to add on to it.
  8. The band will never go back to highstepping halftime so long as Karriker is the director. He is a Drum & Bugle Corps baby and there is a reason that Corps do not high step anymore, and trust me, it is not a matter ability. Mr. Karriker does a lot of Corps style drill that simply isn't possible with highstepping too.
  9. Regarding the highstep, it was taken away from halftime because it makes the band sounds like crap. Doesn't matter what band it is, the more flushy highstepping they do, the less sound production they will have. Also, it makes formations a nightmare because the highstep isn't a very effective march. Impossible to march backwards for instance. That said, the band still marches highstep for pregame. Though only about the five people who bother to actually be in the stadium for pregame know this It is unlikely that the band will actually do 'Script' Zips again. It is a rip off. Though I do like the 'Block' Zips.A CD is on its way.I have spoken to the director about the Tire in the past, and unfortunately I do not think it is ever coming back. The band doesn't have the old one and apparently the University isn't on spectacular terms with Goodyear anymore. I don't know the full story behind that though.I was disappointed with the dropping of Hey Baby. That needs to come back this year.Classical music will always be preformed at atleast one show. The band has been traditionally called a 'symphonic marching band' and it appears a tradition that will stay. That said, there will be plenty of other genres that the band will play too.Regarding music, I would love the band to start playing some traditional marching band music. Something really catchy that the crowd can get into.A Jam session before a game would be awesome when we get a new stadium. And yes, 'Skull Session' is unique to the Suckeyes. Roo Rally doesn't sound so bad...I would love to see unifrom changes. The current ones just...don't look right.
  10. I think this is an awesome idea. I would definitely come up one last time for this before I ship out for basic. Maybe something fun for these guys would be to ask Lebron and the Cavs to come down and have a practice/scrimmage with the Zips like they do in the preseason. Something for Dru and Rome to do before they have to leave and draw in crowds. Also invite some of the recruits too so they can have a shoot around and get in the Zips experience early. Then maybe have a picture and autograph portion with the Zips after.
  11. Here is a video of us playing in this year's band-o-rama. Quality isn't that bad, though whoever in the crowd is singing along is an idiot. edited to add, the fight songs in the post above are all 'old' versions that we only play during the alumni game. The one I posted is our current 'singing version.' There should also be a CD coming out in the near/distant future. First one in a long time.
  12. Not sure about video, but you can listen to the stream of 1350 am here: http://www.1350radiofreeohio.com/pages/135...VE.HTML#Scene_1You have to create an account, but it is free. The game is also on fsn ohio, but I doubt that will help you in NJ
  13. Cheers to the Rowdies. Could hear them all game over their crowd, if you could call it a crowd.Big Zips win. I am glad Rybak and company have been able to step up and fill in. I truely hope that this win carries into Can't sunday. If the Zips can knock back the flushes, they should be able to have a good run in the tourny with the #2 seed. I think they would do better with that seed than anything.
