Personally I think the reason Akron lost was that they got out hustled nearly the entire game. They got down so early because Can't moved much faster to every loose ball, every fast break, and every play. Anytime I saw Akron hustle they scored an easy point, especially down the stretch. I loved how much effort they were putting into their game the last 2 minutes. If they can learn to put half that much effort into every play, they would be damn near undefeated this season.I don't know how many times I saw Akron set a great screen and Can't defenders doubled the dribbler and left they guy setting the screen wide open. In the first half, we -never- once took advantage of this. The guy wide open would stand there with deer eyes, watching the guy with the ball futilely trying to get around the double-team. If the guy coming off the screen cuts to the basket and gets the ball, he has an easy two every time. I counted at least 10 times I saw this in the first half where Akron never capitalized.Akron did get about 2 of these plays in the second half to my relief. At least they finally noticed. The bald ref was truly horrible. I saw him call a foul on Wood when he was on the other side of the court with both teams blocking his view. The other two refs didn't call a thing, and I even caught them glancing over to him as if to saw "wtf?". I thought this ref was going to start swinging at KD too, as he would go out of his way to get into Akron's huddle at a couple timeouts to get in KD's face. Anybody else notice this? The end of the game gave me a lot of hope though. If it comes down to Akron/Can't in the finals, I want to see Akron with the full court press. Can't couldn't handle the pressure at all late in the game. If we jump on them hard early and keep the pressure up, we have the deeper bench to tire them out. The only problem is getting the players to be intense before the game is 'on the line.' I don't see the Zips shooting this bad again.
