  1. Anything less than 40pts from our offense, and anything more than 10 by their's will be disappointing.
  2. I'm not sure what game you were watching, but the second string didn't go in until about 5 min left in the game. Even French was talking about how surprised he was to see the 1st team in so long.
  3. I'm not blaming you
  4. I keep hearing the Hixon is in danger of losing his starting job
  5. Will def be there next time.
  6. I think we have some good talent coming in. People seem to criticize Rodgers for wanting to run it too early, but I think that in the MAC, that will be deadly. There are a lot of other big BSC schools that will get beat by a good scrambling quarterback. PSU however, is not one of them.I keep hearing how good Nicely is too, but I have no idea as I have never seem him play. Maybe rumors are true, or maybe it's because everybody always loves the QB on the bench more than the starter.
  7. I do know the band will be marching through campus. I have no idea when they will do it though.
  8. You guys need to quit thinking like a typical Browns fan. GP1 is right. Does a new stadium change the fact that we are a mid-level school with mid-level talent? No. And that mid-level talent is going to become very apparent when you play a true top-10 team. I think everybody was expecting Penn St to go out there and suck like tOSU typically does. But Penn St is the real deal. All things considered, the team had some very good moments. The defense performed very well. The offense has some major weaknesses, but they will never play a defense that can expose those weaknesses again this season, like PSU did.Where's all this fear coming from that we can't fill the seats? The stadium is almost sold out for an UNKNOWN lower division opponent. Sure it's the opening game, but people still want to see Akron play. It's football after all. The quality of the PSU loss doesn't change the outlook on the season.Again, we've only seen this team and staff together for one game against a far superior opponent. Now we get to see how they adjust to their performance. I fully expect them to turn around and roll Morgan St. Look for the offense to make big plays, and the defense to be just as strong as it was in the second half against PSU. If not, then you can start to call for the heads of the staff.
  9. I love how after the first loss of the season we are ready to fire the coach. It was a bad game against a good team. Lets learn from the mistakes and move on.
  10. I do applaud their effort. They did try and there were a good number of Akron fans. I will say that the tOSU fan sitting beside us was actually pretty tolerable. However, I still preferred the atmosphere we get at OBC way better.
  11. So as I'm leaving the BH, I notice a sign at the OBC saying "Akron U Vs Penn St Here"Were we lied to? Did OBC have the game? Could I have been enjoying a cardinal and watching the Zips at the same time? For the record, I sat on the bar at the BH, and while it was a decent effort, I was not impressed. You can put an Akron shirt on a tOSU fan, but that doesn't make him an Akron fan.OBC or bust from here on out.
  12. I gotta say the defense the second half looked great. The offense had a play here and there that looked good, but it just seemed to be the same stupid run play up the middle. Jacq hands it off and fakes a roll out. It never worked once the entire game. The O line looked a lot better in the second half too. Gave Jacq a lot more time to throw, with really worked well on the TD pass. We need more plays like that, but we never saw them.Based on this game, I'd say we have one of the best D's in the MAC. Run defense was outstanding. Pass defense needs a little work, but hey, this is the #8 team in the country. If we keep this up, it should be a great year.Offense needs to get back to basics. Solid run plays with blockers. Good passes. I saw neither today more than 5 times.
  13. Do you believe or understand your own words? Obviously there is a large crowd of Zips fans that BH isn't catering to, which is why we go to other bars that do (see OBC). And if they don't cater to US at our OWN party, they will not get our business anymore. Free country works both ways
  14. It always seems that games that should be offense prior to kickoff end up being defensive battles, and vise-versa. I think it's going to be a low scoring game with a nail-biter finish.Akron 24PSU 21
  15. #1 Draw play, Allen off center 3-4 yards#2 Pass to Bowser---incomplete#3 Attempted pass to Bowser--CJ sacked#4 Punt
  16. Okay, so you were in the Bottom 15. Thats WAY different than the Bottom 10.Seriously, with the Spin you can put on your program...do you work for a political campaign? I'd say your whiny enough to be a Dcrat, but the way you come up with such useless facts, you could be a republican as well.Thank you for coming in here and demonstrating how lowly and uneducated us poor masses that attend Akron are. We feel crushed by the weight of just the aura of your degree. I just can't take it anymore. How can we ever go back to Akron again?
  17. So basically the answer to beating Penn St is playing good football. Who knew?
  18. I guess I'll stop in for the first game and see if it's worth it. I'm not going to stick around for the season though if it's full of a bunch of Columbus A&M yuppies
  19. No rational reason, eh? How about how most of the MAC E has been in the ESPN "Bottom 10" lately, including OU, Miami, Can't St, and Toledo and EMU from the westPlease show me evidence that OU or Toledo has been in the Bottom 10 in the past three years. BTW, I believe you lost to OU last year. Two years prior, etc.Look it up yourself. It's called google, and it's easy to use.
  20. I know they were blasting crowd noise over the speakers during practice yesterday. Glad to see the new stadium being very helpful for them to get ready for State Penn
  21. How about a Great Lakes Brewery Bowl?A guy can dream, right?
  22. No rational reason, eh? How about how most of the MAC E has been in the ESPN "Bottom 10" lately, including OU, Miami, Can't St, and Toledo and EMU from the west
  23. I am in the same thinking here. Although our O line is powerful and our RBs are talented, I think opening the game up attacking PSU's weakness is a good game plan. The only thing wrong with it is the higher potential for a TO, hopefully 'Senior CJ' is up for the task. Big task, but I think that is the way that I would attack. That WILL open up the running game. I am looking forward to seeing how/if the offensive game calling changes this year under Shane Montgomery. Can't wait.I'm buying this one too. Utilize the pass early while our O-line is still fresh. If they wait until later in the game to rely on it, CJ is going to be very sore on Sunday. Get those backers to cheat back for a pass, then hit them with the run.
  24. I'ma going to check out the bars in the Valley ( I live there anyway). Anybody know anything about the new Brubakers downtown?
  25. I keep telling people this is our year. 2005, we stole NIU's year. We have a beautiful new stadium, a veteran team, and a good schedule. This is the year to separate ourselves from all the other cupcakes in the MAC (I'm looking at you OU, Can't, EMU, Miami, Temple, Toledo). If we don't sweep at least the MAC E I will be extremely disappointed in this season.
