Walton won’t be a starter. This team will be versatile there’s a big line up I think we’ll see a little bit with Aziz and Freeman imagine trying to score in the paint against those 2. Castaneda will be our starting PG though I’m hearing Clarke will play less than he did last season. -

You can go to his Twitter page and see some of the offers he had. I’m just getting a little annoyed with the bad takes and baseless opinions in this board I’m seeing people say Aziz should be starting alongside freeman (nonsense) and now you guys are giving incoming freshman who haven’t played a minute of college basketball big roles it makes my brain hurt then I remember a lot of you guys thought Currie would play big minutes and be a factor on this years team. -

I love google. LCJ born 1996 Greg Tribble born 2001... Let’s have a little confidence in the kid he’s got a whole off season to work on his shot. Everything else is there. -

I’m thinking Tribble Trimble Ali Wynn Freeman to start next year I think we’ll also see a whole new style of play as well since we don’t have to try to hide anyone on defense. Everyone in the incoming freshman class won’t play but I think Johnson and Salle will contribute. Expect to see Tribble with the ball in his hands, he wasn’t a top 150 kid coming out of high school for no reason he can handle it, make plays and put you on sportscenter. he’s paid his dues taking a lesser role and fewer touches because of LCJ who was a vet and earned his status. don’t think he’ll take a backseat to clarke. -
Good point. Trimble hasn’t shot it well as of late either.
-
Dawson can’t guard a fire hydrant. Neither can Trimble or Jackson. We have to be able to stop someone. This is the MAC not the big 12 we can get away with being small we can’t get away with playing bad basketball.
-
Passing the ball getting guys involved will never be considered charitable. Especially when your idea of decent looks are pulling up as soon as you pass half court. Stop it with that nonsense this game is a team sport it takes a team effort to win. I’m disappointed in the coaching staff for allowing this to happen. Teams with lottery level talent at guard don't even allow what I just saw tonight.
-
As a PG it’s your job to distribute and bring guys along, try to build confidence and get other guys going. Most of the time our PG passes as a 2nd thought/last resort. Groce has taken a lazy approach with our offense it’s too much 1-4 flat we get guys just standing in the corner hoping the ball comes their way.
-
You don’t get the extra effort from your teammates when they know it’s a slim chance they’ll get touches on offense. He’ll finish with 30 but win or lose this hasn’t been fun to watch.
-
LCJ only passes when his little arms get tired.
-
Never thought I’d say this but Swingle has been the difference. He was a non factor last game. Also one thing I’m noticing about this team is when one guy scores the next guy always seems to feel like it’s his turn which leads to bad shots. We always seem to find a way to divert from what was working for us.
-
Made me look good lol

Marshall has trouble thinking the game he misses a lot of defensive coverages. Can’t pull Ali out of the lineup after one bad game. Maishe however should or probably will be replaced in the line up by Tribble who’s an elite athlete can guard multiple positions, attack the rim forcing the defense to collapse he’s also becoming a pretty good rebounder, can do a little bit of everything almost had a 5 5 5 game last game. The game is all about scoring especially when you have guys that can fill it up like LCJ and Bryan Trimble.
-
Getting pretty obvious I’m not talking to former players or coaches in this thread so I’ll make this my last post on the matter. More touches and shots confuse casual fans and create a false narrative. You run everything thru one guy it’s going to look like he’s doing all the work or his teammates didn’t step up when in reality he’s not giving his teammates a fair shot to contribute equally. Most of the time they get the ball late in the shot clock and have to rush a move or a shot attempt. I’ve seen this a lot in college basketball, player falls into right situation with coach that trusts him and gives him the green light, he puts up big numbers.. fans end up thinking he’s better than what he is. Happens a lot

@NWAkron I actually know these guys so I’m not just a random guy trolling in a message board I haven’t taken anything away from him as a player he’s very talented, however everything about how he’s playing this year is telling me he wants to repeat as player of the year not go dancing. He has to bring these guys along with him teams are completely fine with him getting 30 playing the way he’s playing and that’s the problem.
-
20+ shots is unacceptable. I don’t care who you are there’s a thin line between volume and gunning. That’s not when this team has been at its best. Getting in transition, pull up 3’s, attacking the rim getting lay ups or fouled when defenders run him off the 3 pt line.. that’s when he’s effective not this dribble dribble dribble I gotta get the points or the assist every possession ball dominate mentality he’s developing will not continue to go over well with his teammates you can sense the frustration at times
-
Completely different team and if he wants to have team success this year he’s going to have to change his approach. Don’t know if that’s what he’s in it for right now, he’ll be able to get the individual accolades again this season if he keeps this up but we’ll be done in early March
-
@zippy5 I don’t feel like looking up his usage rate right now but I’m pretty sure it’s higher than 95% of division 1 guards. You pound the rock for 15-20 seconds, finally dish to a semi open shooter for a catch n shoot attempt late in the shot clock you will get some assists lol our shooters aren’t bad they’re just off and on like most shooters, not to mention the assists he gets off teams overplaying ball screens. Our other guards have no chance to get any rhythm going they’re being forced to stand in the corner watch and hope he kicks the ball. actually that wasn’t a dig at all I’m just trying to put things in perspective for you. I think most of the guys on our roster could have went for 30 on the same amount of shots he took tonight.
-
@zippy5 You must be a casual basketball guy. You see a 30 point game and think “great game” when it’s actually killing the chemistry. I’ve never once seen our “Point guard” try to consistently get his teammates involved it’s always score score score with him. It’s hard to get maximum energy and effort defensively from the 4other guys when they know it’s a slim chance they’ll get to touch it on the other end. Last year if you payed attention LCJ’s pts came within the flow of our offense this year he’s just forcing it. It shows the most when our shooters have cold nights. He had 30 on almost 30 shots you could have done that tonight given the opportunity lol
-
This game just showed me that LCJ is our biggest problem. All he’s cares about is scoring and getting as many shots up as his little arms can handle. Getting tired of watching him dribble the shot clock away and forcing up bad shots. If Trimble isn’t making catch n shoot bailout threes we’re bad. LCJ’s play style doesn’t allow any other zip to get in any kind of rhythm. Also questionable coaching decision leaving Maishe in down the stretch. He hasn’t been good at all watched him miss easy lay ups and give poor defensive effort on a consistent basis this year. Hate watching bad basketball.
-
Tribble played great defense against Turner, made him uncomfortable. Trimble and LCJ made big shots when we needed them. Good win.
-
LCJ has to get a little more creative. He’s not surprising anyone any more he’s literally one of the top scorers in the country. Lots of film on him now so defenses will be focused on stopping him. He should be running his man into solid off ball screens and pin downs nobody is gonna let him dribble around til he finds a look I want more Steph Curry less James Harden.
