HAM with all due respect we had 4 Freshman OL (3 started their 1st games of their careers) that provided zero time for our QB to throw. When given time the QB was pretty accurate. In due time those Freshman will mature into hopefully a great unit. The competition for QB will be very heated next Spring with Gibson (Freshman still) Kato (senior) back and Irons (Juco) transferring in. Jankowski may be the discussion as well. DeShields and Marousek will also add to the competition. Should be a fun spring.

There are players that reported that not me. I will not name the players but I have had multiple discussions with players that confirmed what was happening. The failing grades was confirmed by the coaches.

Our OL may be the worst in the country

You guys realize that when Arth arrived over 70 players were failing at least one class. Stories of players falling asleep in meetings, missing meetings, constantly tardy, missed workouts, disobedience to coaches and staff was the norm. No administration is going to allow that. Hence the complete rebuild. Give Arth 2 years he will turn it around because of the character and quality young men he is bringing in.

My assessment of the program: Defense we need Defensive lineman period. We are overmatched physically and need to improve. LBs are ok need more athleticism on the outside. DBs will evolve with experience, need off season weight room and they will be fine. Offense contrary to some people's post has been a 100% turn around from last season. Hard to believe that they are playing 6-7 Freshman every game on offense. The OL will be fine with experience. WRs best position group on the team. Need to recruit a couple of TEs. Other than Brank we seem to have none. Gibson is the QB, kid has a cannon and he won the job and has a good grasp of the offense. He will only get better and potentially could play 4 more years. Kato and Juco kid Irons will provide good competition in the spring. My guess is that Gibson and Kato will be the QBs for 2021. Coaches have to do better as well. Communication with player's needs to improve. Offensively we have NO intermediate passing and only threw one pass over 25yrds on Saturday. All of these short passes keep the offense from being more explosive. We have the Wrs to go deep so let's use them. Let's just hope we can compete on Saturday and make it a game vs Buffalo.

Another point of interest. Our DL made FOUR tackles on the day. Yes that is 4 tackles not sacks. By contrast Miami had 7 sacks 6 by the DL. The offense will only go as far as the OL period. They played 4 RS Freshman who have played 3 games together. That is where it starts, oh with no spring practice OR summer workouts. So let's understand that this is going to take time. Gibson is a gunslinger, Dollard is a stud, and the WRs can play in the MAC. (By far our best position group). So we have to fix the DL and OL needs to mature. Simple as that

LBs actually played well stopping the run today. DBs are just not good. Blame it on youth, blame it on skill, blame it physicality, whatever. They have to be better.

I understand we are getting 3-4 guys back on defense. Cross, Wilson, Scott and C. Thomas. Mathison will play limited minutes but will return. Still not sure about Kato availability. I see this game as competitive. I think we continue to progress offensively but will give up too many points. Getting better and improving is what I want to see. Beat BG and then we have something to build on going into next year.

I know it's tough to relax when there has been 20 consecutive losses but let's look at the upside. 1) This season is really just an evaluation period for 6 weeks. Everything will carry over. These young players 74% of roster is Freshman/Sophomore's will get tremendously better in the off season with a strength and conditioning coordinator that is very highly respected. 2) Offensively they are way better off than last year and it's not even close. The offensive line will only get better and will be together for 4 years. Add Nate Williams and Ronan Chambers and some depth and you can argue in 2 years will be best in the MAC. 3) RBs improved over last season, again not even close. Need more depth with untested Freshman. 4) WRs improved over last season as a group. Qualls and Grimes big upgrades. Stewart is the senior leader. Mathison been injured but future is very bright. 5) QB room has competition now. Nelson is injured but will return at some point. Gibson upside is off the charts. You can tell he is a leader. He can make all the throws. His issue is trying to do too much be because of being desperate to win. Bringing in kid from Vero Beach in January is only gonna solidify that position moving forward. 6) Defense needs to get bigger and faster period. DL is young and weak but will benefit with off season training. May need a couple of transfers at this position. 7) LBs are too small and not physical. Struggle in passing game and overmatched. Bubba does it with heart but seriously 210lb LBs is not a good template. Need a transfer or two at this position. ? DBs are young and need to get stronger. They lose every physical battle thus far this season. Poor in tackling, poor in coverage. Look confused. Watts, Cochran and Ogbonna will get better with offseason workouts. Bottomline we gotta be patient. The real Year 2 for Arth begins in 2021.

I have watched this forum for 2 years and finally glad to join the discussion. 1st of all, if you don't see the improvement in the program over the last year and half you're blind. The offense is tremendously better and actually competitive. OL is gonna only get better with off season strength and conditioning. WR group is alot better than last year. More experienced and more talented. RB group is so far ahead of last year it's not even close. Last season we started a walkon 5'6 165lb RB. QB position is only gonna get better with reps. Gibson has a cannon and leadership qualities this team needs. You can see his passion that will equate to success in the future. He is a Freshman. Now defense is another issue. Tuesday they were missing alot of players. The scheme has to improve. We are not physical yet. Will take another year. But this year will allow us to catch up . Recruiting is the key. Period. Need pieces to compete at this level. But I assure you we are on the right path. Patience
