  1. So new article today with an update to Zips coaching search. It says that Akron doesn’t want to screw this up again with a div 3 hc or hs coach. They are looking to go big or go home approach with some big div 1 schools on this list with the exception of Nfl qb coach Charlie Frye. Like I said before, need a coach with div 1 experience that can bring in a great staff!! https://247sports.com/Article/Akron-coaching-search-Dolphins-assistant-Power-Five-coordinators-top-Zips-reported-list-175207910/Amp/ Thoughts on these coaches: Purdue DC Brad Lambert, Arkansas DC Barry Odom, Ohio State assistant head coach Tony Alford, William & Mary coach Mike London, Ohio State OC Kevin Wilson, Cincinnati DC Mike Tressel and Dolphins assistant Charlie Frye are among the names.”
  2. I’ve mention that name before in a previous post. Would like to bring him on but not sure what UC is paying him right now. Has Ohio roots but could be looking at bigger d1 schools since UC is a top 6 contender right now. Would love seeing a Tressel as a hc here at Akron even if it’s a stepping stone job.
  3. It’s kinda of odd right now that we haven’t heard much rumors of names that the Zips are looking at for the next coach. Only about 5 or so that I’m aware of. Has anyone seen any other names besides what we saw last week? Has the AD mention at a time time qualities that they want in the next coach?
  4. https://www.on3.com/news/akron-zips-job-linked-several-nfl-college-position-coaches-notre-dame-fighting-irish-green-bay-packers-ohio-state-buckeyes/amp/ Out of this article above, I want Akron to take a look at Iowa State OC Tom Manning. He is from Youngstown Oh. Matt Campbell’s right hand man. Plus he knows the Mac as he coached with Campbell in Toledo. From his bio with Iowa State very involved with recruiting. Worth to take a look.
  5. Finally Akron doing this search the right way. Akron was too late last time in the search starting in late Dec and ended up with a bad hire of Arth. As for names is UC bearcats defense coordinator Mike Tressel. He could lean on his uncle Jim’s connections in the college football world to build a great staff. If not, I would go with another Bowden type coach with division 1 experience like that TCU coach that got let go. You can get a good hc from d1 that is hungry to get back in top d1 programs radar. Heck, I would love to steal Rich Rod oc away from Terry Bowden to bring him to Akron!
  6. Does anyone what happened with Kato? Feels like a Bledsoe moment when that goat Brady lit it up when Bledsoe went down. Not saying Gibson is Brady at all but we might have a real qb here with the backup wants it more. The North Royalton Ohio kid is now the next back up qb joey-marousek. Let’s go zips! Let’s get the win!!
  7. We need to bring in Cinncy Bearcats Defense Coordinator Mike Tressel who is Jim Tressel’s nephew as Zips new Head Coach. He has ton of experience d1 with coaching on Michigan State staff and work his way to Def coordinator on a team that could win a national Championship with Cinncy. He needs to build up his head coaching experience to get into a bigger program and his can tap into his Uncle’s previous connections with d1 on staff that can help him build our program. I’m willing to take a chance on him.
  8. I thought we could never have a coach worst than Ianello but apparently we have met our match with Arth being the worst I’ve ever seen at Akron. Akron needs to pull the plug on Arth!
  9. Looking forward to firing Arth in Nov. The fact we can’t compete with BG shows Arth isn’t D1 coach. Pay him his 700k and start the coaching search asap!!
  10. I’m glad we are having this dialogue and looking at our options to fix the problem which is Tom Arth. I didn’t like the hiring of a d3 coach and felt keeping Bowden was better for the program. No excuses for Arth, 3 years with a losing record is enough to fire him. Moving forward, Zips need to go back to Bowden style hire. A former Div 1 coach who got fired from a big program that needs a restart career. Or we need a former nfl coach looking get into a head start with a college d1 school that they can build up their resume before they head out for bigger school. They need someone who will bring back a ton of transfers or graduate players across the nation. Local kids is not what we should be doing as you can see the team isn’t great now with the current recruiting efforts.
