Despite being on the road much of this early season Central Michigan has been very competitive. They gave Indiana a tough game at Bloomington. Then the Chips BEAT Miami (OH) at Oxford. On the road again they lose 40-3 to Penn State. Finally at home CMU loses in OT to an improved Eastern Michigan team. So the Zips need to keep their feet on the ground and concentrate on the advancing Chippewas.

The Akron Beacon Journal Sports Editor must have felt that the OSU - SDSU game was very BIG! He sent two reporters and a photographer to Columbus, none to Murfreesboro. The Akron Beacon Journal Editor obviously felt no Akron team was worthy of Sunday's sports front page. The Zips along with the BIG high school rival game at the Rubber Bowl and the Akron Aeros BIG championship win were buried pages behind the teams from Cleveland and Columbus. What a BIG SHAME on the Akron Beacon Journal!

That may be true. Another consideration maybe that the teams visting Jackson Field often use the locker rooms in the JAR.

The new location for the softball field follows the orginal master plan. A new concession & rest room facility is suppose to built in the middle of Jackson Field to serve the softball, baseball and soccer fields.

McDonald's would have to move if a stadium is coming to that location. For now, the area just east of Jackson Field seems to be the first choice for a new campus stadium.
