  1. More like if people didn't over react to one season, and actually appreciated what Akron Football could be in reality versus delusions of grandeur.
  2. Currently sitting at #103.
  3. It's a forum. You can keep on scrolling by. It's really not a big deal when someone points out the obvious.
  4. Goodguys never win. 🙄
  5. So it's finally happened after 20+ years of D-1 financial commitment!
  6. And yet we fired that coach for this guy.
  7. I apparently have more of a life than you do...troll who lives on ZNO. 😂🤣 Like good lord brother, kettle meet pot! 🤣 I don't question your education Dre, I'm denying it's existence. 🤣 Oh I edited this post right after posting too, does that mean something magical? 🤣 Get a grip dude.
  8. Someone (you) needs to read ASOIAF, as well as anything by Jane Goodall or Frans de Waal.
  9. Any man who must declare "I am the king" is no true king.
  10. The proof is in your argumentation. Pointing out that you have two MS and what fields they are in doesn't make you look better dude, it makes you look worse. Because it furthers the fact that you're an embarrassment. You could have 30 degrees, and that still wouldn't mean you can make a sound arguement. The value of your "education" is your ability to construct reasonable arguments, and not make fallacious arguments. Salary isn't a measure of intelligence or education, but only a measure of being the less stupid than the person paying you. I mean all you've demonstrated is that MS Programs for CyberSecurity and Information Assurance don't actually teach you how to think/argue rationally. 🤷‍♂️ This is like Theory Of Knowledge 101. Any man who must declare "I am XYZ" is not truely XYZ.
  11. Ah yes the continuum fallacy, where you erroneously reject an argument/comment for something trivial. Pathetic. U SuRe YoU gRaDuAtEd FrOm tHe UnIvErSiTy Of AkRoN? You're making us grads of real programs at UA, not just grads of fingerpainting, look bad bro.
  12. So you can get a jump on finding a new coach?
  13. It's okay to have the expectations that Bowden should have done better, AND think that firing him was a dumb move. They are not mutually exclusive. I just want some logical consistency it what's actually important to the Akron Football program.
  14. I mean we're constantly told by others on this forum that D-1 Football is about Exposure...and winning against BIG-10 teams is more exposure than losing to BGSU... I just want some logical consistency from you guys. That's it. It's not much to ask. Either the record doesn't matter, exposure does...or the record matters and exposure is secondary. Anyway you shake it, firing Bowden was monumentally stupid with 2-years on his contract on that metric alone. It's like you guys move the goalposts everytime you're confronted with your own criteria. Good lord, if 2-6 was an unacceptable record, WTF is two years of 0-8 and 1-7?!? Do you even reread your own arguments after typing them? If 2-6 is unacceptable only 1-year removed from a 6-2 record and MACC appearance, wtf is 0-8, 1-5 (where you probably would have been 1-8), 1-8? Good lord just admit you're wrong...that it was a bad idea to fire him with 2-years left and just move on already. It's just embarrassing the logical inconsistency.
  15. I mean, assuming that's true, that makes the decision even more mind numbingly bad.
  16. I have a rather large and diverse group of friends and associates. Turning on Bowden at the end is completely different than the public perception of what the University did...and it's objectively true that UA made the wrong move. Is public perception of the Akron Zips football team BETTER or WORSE than it was 3 years ago? It's objectively WORSE.
  17. Ironically, he's getting paid more than the previous coach was.
  18. Could anyone do well with fundraising and PR side? It's The University of Akron...I feel like some of you are living in a Bizzaro world.
  19. How much you want to bet? Everyone from my time at Akron that I've talked to agreed...many of which were involved with athletics, sports broadcasting/writing today, and or regularly went to games with me and don't care anymore. Community members who are not involved with UA what-so-ever, and just hear about Akron football cursory also say to me "WTF were they thinking?" I don't know what bubble you're living in, but the bubble I'm in the prevailing opinion is unquestionably that Akron made a horrible mistake firing Bowden. An average coach is something Akron hasn't had in 30-years, you want still want to defend it was a good idea, or that "average" wasn't a step up from what we have now? Preposterous. I personally tuned out for 2-years and discontinued my season tickets, because I thought it was a monumentally stupid move and frankly was apathetic to care about watching the Zips go through another iCoach era. And I'm definitely not the only one, just ask anyone working for the ticket office, if they're brave enough to speak candidly. I only recently came back here to ZNO to see what the perspectives currently are, and to see if there was any possible turnaround for the culture of apathy.
  20. Blocked punt...😂
  21. I was the same way when I was there. I tried to be as involved as I was and get people hyped up to me more interested, but honestly that's not what people were there for so can we blame them? I've been told by older community members that UAkron burnt bridges decades ago with the community and the relationship never rekindled. I'm not sure to what they are referring to, but the apathy I have definitely felt creep into my own fandom as I've gotten older. I got my masters from OU and I wouldn't say I have an innate loyalty to OU either, I was there explicity for their program not the university, which might be weird to other Ohio University alumni.
  22. I hear ya. I live in Akron, but I don't think the Zips are viewed by the community as part of the community TBH. That's even amongst alumni. UAkron is the culture of apathy.
  23. I mean...it D-1 Sports is about "Exposure" and all that other bullshit that people blabber on about, isn't the schools on your "do not schedule" list actually the ones you'd want to play? We should schedule OSU as often as they'll allow us TBH. At the very least it gives more eyeballs within the state to Akron, and give the poor current students at Akron something to take pride in that OSU is playing their team?
  24. If a coach is going to be as bad as Tom Arth or iCoach at the very least they should be an alumni. Because an alumni I could respect came here out of love for the university and didn't just see it as just a step on the resume stepping stone. I firmly held that Bowden would have retired as an Akron football coach if he had not been fired. So I go in two directions with what I expect: Either someone who CARES about Akron, or someone who actually has a record of recent potential. Yes potential doesn't always pan-out, and those with potential might move on quickly to another program. But Tom Arth very clearly, in my view, did not have potential.
