I don't have any easy answers .....on how to improve attendance at Men's soccer games....

Here are some numbers....that might prompt discussion.

Does anyone have any good suggestions?   Obviously, having a fantastic , unbeatable team is the best way to get butts in the stands.

Before I present the numbers, I want to point out that the 2018 team was #2 in pre season rankings.  I also have listed the day of the week when

games were played as I thought that high school football might have an impact on attendance.

Akron Zips Home attendance for season opening soccer games

    2018   2,579 on a Friday night

    2019   1,630 on a Friday night

    2020    covid

    2021    1,580  on a Thursday night

    2022   1,488   on a Monday night

    2023   1,174     on a Thursday night

1,405 person drop in attendance from opening game 2018 to opening game 2023

The 2023 opener was at the same exact time as the annual Welcome Back Bingo event for students. This event is huge every year, it sucks that they don't look at the soccer schedule when scheduling these events. Obviously, this only effects students, but there weren't as many students present at the Niagara game as normal for the early season games. Monday I imagine will draw more.

Ger needs to get all of the starters out.

Niagara is really playing dirty now.

need all of the starters healthy for #12 Vermont

Nice coaching job tonight by Ger and Attila.

will be good to have Jared and Nanchoff back on the sidelines for Monday

    Why aren’t they coaching tonight?

That MAC championship team was tough to watch huh?

Up until mid-February when they figured it out, yes

Not being a hater, just want us to run the right offense, the one that finished the '22 season, not the one that started it

  4. "Halligan enjoyed a standout senior basketball season at Walsh Jesuit and has committed to play at the University of Akron as a walk-on player who will have an academic scholarship."

Uh Oh, another Academic Scholarship Walk-on. The MAC is not ready!

He picked up at Butler right where he left off with Akron. What a stud.

I guess I never looked at this box score that much. How on earth did he play that many minutes and grab 1 rebound and only have 1 assist.

Should've had two assists if he passed out to Wynn in the corner instead of going for the hero layup at the end of the game.

  6. Take this with a grain of salt but me and a friend saw Mikal Dawson and Sammy today and asked them if they will be back next season. Dawson replied “we will be back. I think everyone is sticking around” That most likely will change but overall a good sign that no one is itching to get out

  7. A core four of Enrique, Sammy, Dawson, and Greg will be a solid group for next year so hoping none of them transfer out. Hoping Nate and Prather/Prince will improve over the summer. I feel like Groce has the ability to attract a good guard transfer once again. I still believe we will be a top 4 team in the mac solely based on us being a Groce program.

    Transfer out guesses: Kobe, Tavari
