  1. Count me impressed! Also looks like Rivals needs to remove Idaho and add Jacksonville State and Sam Houston.
  2. John Young. OL transfer from Kentucky.
  3. That’s an interesting idea about NFL on Fridays and Saturdays. It wouldn’t go that well in the SEC foot print (especially on Saturdays) but maybe elsewhere.
  4. Good question. For some reason Rivals has always just listed the top 100 teams.
  5. I don’t believe we are counting on any freshmen to start this year. The #1 ranking included HS/JUCO/ and portal. Last year, we had two portal players become All-MAC and another two are preseason All-MAC this year. It’s happening….
  6. The 2023 Composite Ratings have been posted and linked here. FYI, Akron is #1 in the MAC. Doesn’t fit a narrative of poor recruiting…
  7. Right. Kent is listed as 1st in the transfer rankings, as you mentioned. That one goes by total points, similar to the HS/JUCO rankings. Can’t argue their portal class was much better than their HS/JUCO class. Better than Akron’s? Doubtful, but we’ll see.
  8. The comprehensive rankings take the highest ranked 25 players (plus any bonus points for top 250, which no MAC has) and formulates the rankings. One stat that stands out is Akron has more 3 stars (9), between the HS/JUCO class and portal class, than any other MAC school.
  9. That’s for the 2024 class, which is still in progress.
  10. Here’s Rivals new feature of comprehensive team rankings for the 2023 class. And MAC rankings. I’ll go ahead and spoil it. Akron is #1 in the MAC and #89 Nationally.
  11. That’s actually the opposite of what’s happening. Make sure to check the 2023 MAC recruiting thread when the Rivals composite ratings are released.
  12. It’s a new feature that hasn’t been released yet. Coming soon..
  13. Wait until you guys (and gals) see Rivals Comprehensive Team Rankings for the 2023 class. 🤫
  14. Respectfully disagree there. It’s easier than it’s ever been to turn around a program with the transfer portal. Only about 30 players remain from the Arth era.
  15. Obviously not a ton can be gleaned by these clips, but a few things stood out. - Freshman Connor Cravaack looks to have great size in that short clip. Nice job looking the ball in and securing the catch. - Impressive feet by George. I’m confident he’s going to have a big season. - Bullock has a more compact throwing motion than Irons. - #27 freshman Catrell White is fluid and seems to have some explosiveness to him. I initially thought he was one of the transfers. - JUCOs (#90) LaJoshua Jackson and (#91) CJ Nunnally move well for guys their size and should provide DL position/tech flexibility like we thought. - Myles Walker seems to be carrying right on from his spring game performance. Gotta think he’ll be in the rotation if he’s moving like that. - #82 freshman Jean Louis with a tough catch against safety Jaden Woods. Louis is not built like a typical freshman. Can’t wait to see more.
  16. Definitely all very fascinating. PAC probably shouldn’t be considered a P5 conference for football with the remaining teams plus any G5 additions. It was likely only a matter of time before they added SDSU and UNLV though. From my limited knowledge, I’m not sure if SEC has much interest in any ACC team. They are only going to add another school that increases the payout to each current member school. The same source that gave a heads up about Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC (before it was reported nationally) also said SEC had conversations with two of the elite BIG10 schools but nothing came from it. Wouldn’t that throw another curveball in this whole mess if the likes of Michigan or Ohio State eventually bounced over to the SEC? I was very opinionated on this before, but no longer. Now just sitting back and watching the madness unfold.
  17. Nice job as always @LZIp! I’m sure you’re right about Owens. For some reason Castle is still listed as OL, Camari Harris now shows as a redshirt freshman, and DT Kyle Thomas as 230lbs. Definitely some fat fingering by someone. Assuming the rest is correct, nice to see all the incoming JUCOs with multiple years of eligibility. Too bad about Rabah. Even though he didn’t do much in the spring game, I hoped he would have a strong offseason and provide some pass rush this year. Seems we confirmed before that AJ George is on scholarship? The ones I’m still confused about are Kilbane, Georges, Robarge, Yarmo, and Behm. I’m assuming Durant and Hester carried their scholarships over and were not only for a semester.
  18. Not going to lie, getting a kick out of all JoeMo’s 🤫 tweets lately.
  19. Some off-season reading and finally an outlet that doesn’t list Moorhead at the bottom. Athlon Quarterback Rankings Athlon MAC Head Coach Rankings *Wrong thread. Please move this to 2023 season.*
  20. You lost me there. Sounds like I’ve been having a discussion with someone that doesn’t even watch the games. Enough time wasted. Carry on.
  21. Of course last year’s team was outclassed by Tennessee and MSU. Most teams were outclassed by Tennessee regardless of level. Turnarounds usually take 5-6 games for things to really start clicking, just FYI. As much as I’d love a P5 win, I’m not counting on Kentucky or Indiana. I am counting Morgan State and Temple (although I think the Temple matchup will be very close.) Not sure how many games you watched last year, but we lost 4 conference games by 7 points or less. Only Ohio and Miami ran away from us. I bring that up to show this team was not far off even with a less talented roster than our opponents. Last year’s team had a clear deficit in the run game, pass rush, and at cornerback. The portal has changed the landscape of college football and this staff has used it as well as anyone at the G5 level, while also bringing in a strong HS/JUCO class. If those positions have been shored up like I think they have, then this will be one exciting season. This team will have just as much depth as any team in the MAC this year. We compare at every position except the OL and DL, but those should be much improved over last year. Flash in the pan? Doubtful. Believe it. Or not. Might want to pay just a little closer attention to what’s happening with this program though.
  22. Guess we should pack it all up and go home because some arbitrary ranking says this team won’t be any good? NIU can go from 0-6 to 9-5 and Akron can’t make the same type of leap? Come on out and pay a little attention to what’s happening with this program. I’ve made more than enough posts on why this team could majorly outperform this year. I’ve also given similar situations to other programs. It’s fine to disagree, but next time how about give a little more depth into why you disagree before giving a preseason ranking that most likely goes 99% off the win/loss record of last year.
  23. I reached out and the official answer I was given is that there will be no open practices during fall camp. No definitive answer on when the roster would be updated, except would likely be early on during camp.
  24. It’s a great situation. I know there are still a handful of offers to some recruits committed elsewhere that we may be hoping to flip and a few others that would be absolute takes, but outside of that it sounds like we’re pretty much done. Going off the amount of home runs this staff has hit with the transfer portal, I completely understand why 60-70% of the classes will come from the portal here on out. Impressive 2024 HS class though.
