I may not have the depth of knowledge regarding Akron football that others here do, but I think we’ve seen what Bullock and Undercuffler can do, so what is the harm of letting our younger guys get a chance?

I know he doesn’t play defense and he wouldn’t have done much to stop giving up 55 points to NIU, but today especially is a game I just feel like we could have won if Irons plays. Injuries to your QB kill any team especially one like ours where we have basically no other real options to generate any kind of offense.

Yes the Hokies are 3-4 and their 2 QBs have a combined 54.6 completion percentage. So it’s not like Bullock was beat out by some stellar player. Undercuffler isn’t going to knock anyone’s socks off but I just don’t see how anyone can look at how Bullock has played and think that he gives us the better chance to win, but I could be wrong.

I wondered earlier this week if it wouldn’t be better to give Undercuffler a shot after what happened against NIU. I just don’t get what JM saw in Bullock and this week was just as ugly. If you don’t have a QB who can throw the ball even on a basic level we’re just never gonna have a shot.

Bullock can run I will admit that but you have to at least have some ability to throw it or you’re basically running the single wing.

Defense starting off with a struggle again.

“2023 has been an unfortunate, soul-sapping campaign for Akron they probably can’t wait to get out from under.” That’s a pretty harsh way to put it not going to lie. It’s been a rough one especially after that Indiana game where we were so close with a healthy Irons.

With this new era of the transfer portal who knows what can happen. If you get a local guy who was a high recruit but didn’t work out at a big school he could come in and make a huge difference especially if they are at an impact position. All it could take is that one guy to come in and help turn things around for a season, which could lead to something positive in the future. I know it may sound far fetched but with the way kids move schools these days whose to say we don’t get lucky?

Thanks for this! I suppose that if you're going to pick a guy you'd do best to stick with it. It makes sense given the way irons was operating the offense, so there will at least be continuity of play style there. Nowhere to go but up!

My question is whether after last weeks debacle they go back to Undercuffler? It’s just such a mess without Irons so I don’t know what the solution is but not sure it can get any worse, no?
