I got a bad feeling about this game… just seems like a game where the Flushes go unconscious and hit everything they shoot. I like our depth and look for Tarvi to have a big game. Last year he was the difference maker.
-
I think the Zip roll. I actually think this team is better than last year. Some how this team is looking good on defense as well as consistently Shooting around 37% from 3 The emergence of Seth Wilson has been a game changer… I have been so proud of his perseverance through adversity I personally think no MAC team can beat us… only way we lose is if we beat ourselves!

with not having to go to Oxford. I feel like this is a Must Win that will position us to take control of the conference Race.

I would argue long rebounds give you a better chance to get offensive rebounds. As the defense is normally on the interior boxing out so a long rebound gives a higher chance for the offensive player to secure it giving you more opportunities for second chance points. for the season Akron is currently shooting 35% from 3. That is efficient. And currently in 14 games we have 188 offensive rebounds. That’s over 13 a game last year we had 35 games and 354 offensive rebounds. Which was 10 offensive rebounds a game.

Shooting 3s has always been the great equalizer. Shooting 33% from 3 is the same as shooting 50% from 2 I am okay with all 3s you just have go with the flow and hope we shoot 35% to 40% and not 25% in today’s basketball kids grow up wanting to be Steph curry and shooting is now the “cool” thing to do

There is no point to complain as it doesn’t help… but this is our 2nd D3 team we play this season… is that even legal lol

Games 4, 5 & 6- The Akron Basketball Classic

I had high hopes for Seth Wilson. But with a loaded backcourt he really should not play. He was brought in as a sniper and he is shooting 15%. Hardman has taken all of his minutes and done a great job. today is the “championship” game both teams are 2-0 and tired… going to be fun to see if we can gut out a win. Omaha is was really big and that gave us trouble as we have no true PF. Zips defense can improve. I think the match up was poor. Luckily we hit a ton of shots to stay above water as the Refs tried to give Omaha the game. -

I think these tournament help prepare us for the MAC tournament in march. This gave me the vibe of a Saturday semifinal game. our defense was terrible, but man did we shoot good, will be interesting to see if we can keep that up throughout the season and make improvement on the defensive side of the ball. I love Nate but can we have a honest discussion about how he needs to just dunk… not throw the house down! lol -

My prediction: zips 77 ASU 75 Seth Wilson MVP with 6 made 3s -
I totally agree. The line up of Gray, Wilson, Nate, Harris and okonkwo is a bunch of Thick Grown Men. coach Groce has a lot of options for line ups. We will see what ends up being the rotation by conference play. As I assume there will be a lot of mix and match in the non con.
-
I agree! with all the Guards we should be able to play aggressive and hard if you count Harris as a SF then we have 9 Guards that play on the perimeter. I do not see a drop off from the various positions, hopefully it will be who has the hot hand plays as all the guys seem to be about Equal.

Very fun practice to go to. my biggest take away was although the new players are shinny new and have good resumes. I think the core of Tavari, Scott and Amani will be major players and all have improved a lot. (Nate Johnson did not play) Isaiah Gray and Seth Wilson look like grown men that will be bigger and stronger then anyone they guard. Like eye popping big. my biggest surprise was Eric Mahaffey. I think he grew this summer. Hit shots and looked like he will play. Was running with the core of Tavari, Wilson, Harris. Which I thought had starting back court vibes. my most excited player going into the practice was Sharron young. He was as advertised. Might not start but by March could be our best player. Can shoot, pass, and is a pesky defender. my prediction for the opening night starting line up is: Tavari Johnson Seth Wilson Nate Johnson Josiah Harris James Okonkwo

As a paying fan, I am disappointed with the pace and names of the teams. It is bunched up with the tournament 😔 but I go to games to watch our team play and see how the guys develop. hope we get quality games and not blowouts. Better clear your schedule the week before thanksgiving. -

I totally agree Young is probably not going to get the start At the start of the season. What I am excited to see is: is he as good as social media has hyped him up to be. starting line up Gray Wilson Nate Johnson Harris Okonkwo with Young battling Travi for back up PG -

That’s a big one. I hope we get a return trip to Akron. I would take a 2 for 1 if we have to. It’s all about Quad 1 games -

I think the ceiling next season is a MAC Championship with a chance at a March tournament win. (13 seed) but the floor is a frustrating 17-14 season where we as fans feel like this team has no chemistry and we just can never put it together. I think the keys to the ceiling season is: James Okonkwo: being a power 4 big in the MAC (Aka domination) The guys who “should” be good shooters actually being good shooters Sharron Young blossoms into the clutch killer he was in highschool and takes over games in crunch time. Making young kids everywhere in Akron pretending to be him in their driveways. I believe in John Groce to Gel the team and lead us into March excited to cut the nets in Cleveland. -

I think when you evaluate Groce. How can you not be happy. He has found a way to make it to the NCAA tournament 2 out of 3 years. Since joining the MAC Akron has made it 5 times. That is 5 in 32 year we are in the good times! The core of Ali Ali and Freeman was unstoppable. Sure you would have wished to capitalize on those 2 elite players and win a tournament game. But I’m just glad to have my team get called on selection Sunday. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mid-American_Conference_men's_basketball_tournament#Tournament_champions
