Hilltopper and the rest of Zips Nation: You can call any of us in Athletics Development and we will help you with your Priority Points. Within our office we all work off of a client list just like a sales person in the private sector. If you are on a client list and leave a voice mail we will have the person you usually work with call you back if we are not able to respond quickly. Thank you for your support and Go Zips! George Associate AD, Development ghvanhorne@uakron.edu 330/972-8255 HilltopperPosted 22 May 2014 - 02:58 PM You need to call Alexa Doutt. She is the director of the Z-Fund. Her number is 330-972-2695. I had a similar problem and she was able to get it straightened out right away. Anthony and George would just direct you to her anyway.

Athletics Marketing should of had the commercial pulled and a new on put in place. The new ads should be all about Caleb and the boys and their hunt for a national championship...and basketball.

I was kicked out of band in 7th grade for engaging in a friendly competition of "Who can be the last trumpet chair" with several other musically deficient friends. . . I've never regretted it for a minute.I'll bring the trumpet on Saturday!

Has UA ever gone a season beating all the teams they should beat?No...in any sport.Point taken, but in football you only play 11-12 games. Akron football seems to always find a way to lose rather than find a way to win.The only time you beat all of the teams you should beat in a given year is when you go undefeated. How many college or professional teams go undeafeated in a given year? Answer: Very few.We were lucky to see Alabama, Ball State and Boise State do it this year in college football where the game is played by 18-23 year old kids.

akronzip12345 we do not attack you for "being rational" we attack you for being ignorant. If you know anything about any industry the standards are constantly changing. Although I am sure Dr. Proenza and his staff would love to have your expertise and knowledge of the fundraising field on hist team. On the University's website they are currently hiring directors of development for several colleges.Let's talk about comparables. With a little searching on the internet I found this site: http://www.cae.org/content/pdf/VSE.2006.To...ts.By.State.pdfand these stats:In 2006, Akron raised the 4th largest amount in the state of Ohio. The Board reported giving to the University for July through November 2007 totaled $21.5 million, 76 percent more than the $12.2 million received for the same period of 2006. The number of gifts increased 14.4 percent to 8,616 in July-November 2007, from a total of 7,531 for the same period in 2006. The trend continued into December 2007, closing the University's highest-ever first half of a fiscal year at $26.4 million. These totals continue the University's recent successes — $32,395,043 for fiscal year 2006-07, surpassing the previous record of $27.4 million for 2000-01. The 2006-07 level was an increase of 28 percent from the total of $25,220,009 for the previous fiscal year. An average of $22,976,540 for the recent five-year period was an increase of 41 percent over the previous five-year period. “This continued financial support for our people and programs truly is groundbreaking and gratifying,” UA President Luis M. Proenza says. “The community support speaks well of our recent efforts to transform our campus setting and the outstanding academic pursuits that take place here each day.”

If you arent' going to UConn. You should come on out a fellowship with Zips baseball fans next weekend.http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPS...&ATCLID=1205978The baseball team’s Diamond Legends Golf Outing on September 29th, 2007 at RainTree Country Club. Coach Bangtson and the current Zips baseball players need you to come out and have a great time. The baseball team is looking to not only improve again this year, but battle for a MAC Championship. In preparation for the 2008 campaign the Zips are playing in Florida, North Carolina, Las Vegas and Texas. Over the summer, a former student-athlete became so impressed with the improvements made in the baseball program on and off the field he made a gift to completely redo the infield from the drainage to the pitchers mound giving the Zips one of the best infields in the MAC. Why don’t you come on out meet the players and the staff and judge for yourself? To sign up for the Diamond Legends Golf Outing you can call me or Blair Danner, Assistant Director of Development for Athletics at 330/972-2695. See you all on the 29th.

Strickland's message to UA
zipsfan38 replied to ZachTheZip's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
If you close a 200-300 acre college campus what do you do with the property and buildings? No one is scrambling to move to Ohio and the state just takes on more debt.Maybe we could start an OSU wannabe graduates asylum. Did bow down attend OSU or is he just another bandwagon junkie.Go UA Polymers!Go UA Psychology!Go UA SAE Racing Team!Go UA Law School Graduates and IP Law Program!I'd root for can't before I would root for OSU. -
From what I hear Porten did not want to lead the men's and women's programs as the director of golf. He has taken a step down to maybe one day be the head coach at Can't State. If Porten really wanted to work with Page he could of just driven the 15 miles to Can't and had lunch with Page on a regular basis. We are better off losing someone whose life long ambition is to be an assistant coach.

A multi-purpose domed facility is not good for most of the sports who play there and is really not good for the fans who watch the games. Look at the Astrodome in Houston. . . nobody liked playing there. Plus to the price tag would be too high. Instead of adding $50-$60 million to the price tag try adding over $130 million. Not a good investment for anyone involved. Unless the Browns are going to move to Akron too.We can all agree the JAR and Rubber Bowl are horrible facilities to watch a game in. let's fix the problem one at a time instead of making the same mistakes that were made on the JAR.

Like Steve French said last night "bring a couple of friends with you to the game tonight." Let's break the MAC Tournament attendance record and fill the Q with Zips.Bring you KRAFT Mac & Cheese to the game and get free GA tickets

Ak Rowdies and Akron fans great job tonight. Way to stick by your team and help bring them to victory. You remind me of the best hecklers in sports the Texas Tech Hecklers. I remember facing off against them in the '96 NCAA baseball tournament.Hopefully you will continue to build the tradition of the Rowdies. Here is a link to the Tech Hecklers for you to check out:http://www.techhecklers.com/home.htmGreat job tonight. See you all tomorrow.

I mentor a student from an Akron high school who has been offered a scholarship by Akron. In the past, some of the Akron high school coaches would rather send their kids to other schools than Akron. Maybe these coaches are still doing this.GP1 is right. JD should put the best players on the field. If a student wants to be recruited by Akron he needs to be responsible and pick up the phone.

AK soccer player to kick saturday
zipsfan38 replied to KeeprOFtheHous's topic in Akron Zips Football
It has been awhile since I checked this, but under the NCAA Rules football is a primary sport meaning if a scholarship recipient in another sport participates in football, that scholarship counts against footballs NCAA limits which is 85.Football scholarship athletes can compete in other sports and the scholarship does not count against that sport. However, if a scholarship athlete from another sport participates in football, than that scholarship than counts towards the football limits. When you have possible two sport athetes the coaches of each sport will work together to recruit the athlete and to make sure there is enough scholarship cap room available.Example:A scholarship football player runs track. The scholarship does not count against track but football.A scholarship track athlete plays football. The schoalrship counts towards footballs limits and not track -

I am assuming McClain is on a soccer scholarship of some sort. If he goes and plays football, his scholarship would count against the football teams. Does football have a scholarship to give? -
I went to the Can't game last night. Here are my thoughts:Can't looks much improved, but their quarterback has no idea when to throw the ball away. They must not teach this at a JUCO.I thought Can't almost had a chance to score. . .then they fumble on the one-yard line. Typical Can't. After that I knew the game was over. The only thing left to do was put the last nail in the coffin. A couple of series later Can't gets close to score, quarterback sacked for an 8-yard loss, missed field goal. Game over!I did forget to mention the reaming the UM defense got when Can't got down to the one yard line. Once UM took the time out you knew Can't was never going to score. It might be a tie, but Can't's scoreboard is almost as bad or worse than the scoreboard at the RubberBowl. The highlight of the evening was my wife (a Can't graduate) telling me the scoreboard is spelling S U K!Can't is much improved, but so is the rest of the MAC. They might be in for a really long year.

I have known Darr for several years and know he is sad about leaving Akron. The opportunity was just too good for him to pass up.By moving to OSU as an assistant Darr more than doubled his salary and gets to be the pro at the University's golf course. The AD at OSU is the former golf coach, the current coach will retire in the next few years. Who would not want to put themselves in line to take over a national power?

Dambrot is not leaving for Cinci. Mostly because making it to the NIT is great for Akron but what MT probably has in mind for hiring a head coach. The Cinci fans are anxious, but who are they going to hire in the middle of the season or before the tournament is done. Most schools do their hiring process during the Final Four and postseason play. Do you want a coach who has been sitting out all year? Or, an up and comer whose team may or may not of won a game in the Big Dance?

To all the Jim Dennison Lovers,The people in the University administration who ran Dennison out of Akron are long gone. This includes from Buchtel Hall on down.Give the newest athletic administration a chance and stop harping on a 20 year old excuse. You should support the school and not the coach. Even when they are classy like Jim.If you came to any sporting event you would see classy coaches and administrators in place.

I have read that a dome stadium would cost upwards of $200 million. Unless Texas Zips Fan is an oil man, I think we will all still be freezing. Hopefully in chair back seats though.

Ken Lolla accepts job at Louisville
zipsfan38 replied to Johnny Utah's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
maybe Lolla left because he did not know who his next boss was going to be and if they would be supportive of men's soccer the same way Thomas was. Even thouh UAM is interim AD any promise he makes to KL would only hold up if the new AD agrees to it. It is hard to keep a great coach if there is not a great permanent leader in place. I wish only the best to Ken and his family. They are truly good people. GO Zips Soccer. The longest tradition of success at The University of Akron.
