  2. All in good fun my ass! Zips and JD beware---- Pruett and Marshall will be out to head-hunt Charlie. Be prepared for many cheap shots and late hits. Getting Charlie out of the game will be Marshall's number one goal throughout the game. Ol' Bob is still pissed that Charlie refused his promise of thousands of dollars and a car to transfer to Marshall.
  3. Easy does it GP1! This entire post is an example of why I prefer to argue in person versus a message board. While I disagree with Big Zips analysis of the defense in the Can't game--I thought the D was outstanding for 3 quarters, especially taking into account that Can't went to the option. This offense takes days to prepare for and so the discrepancy in yards and per carry average is bound to happen. Cribbs got away several times, but the pressure was excellent most of the day. On the other hand, I for one, did not interpret the mere mention of Owens' name and reference of his offense as being a jock sniffer type post either. (Yours either, zipboy) Most of the posts on this board wanted Owens fired years ago.......I took it purely as a reference. That being said, it looks like JD is going to be a very conservative play-caller as long as he is NOT losing. In the Can't game, we were never down so he was and will continue to try to establish the run, even if it's getting only a yard or two. This approach takes time off the clock and of course, shortens the game. If 8-10 of the first half running plays weren't called, there could have been 2-4 more minutes on the clock and then maybe we have a replay of last year at the end of the game. Add in the fact that the protection of Charlie is lacking, to say the least, and you will continue to see conservative play calling. If any, or all, of the components to our offense get going--blocking, pass catching, running--- I'm sure the offense and play-calling will open up.
  4. Does anyone have any information on the back-up QB from Pitt that has transferred to Akron?
  5. I'll be there......
  6. CK, While you were popping champagne corks, I decided to celebrate as well with a few cold ones myself here in northern Summit county. But before we get ahead of ourselves, this firing can best be described as "better late than never". This reassignment could of and should have taken place years ago. After witnessing the debacle at Cincinnati followed-up by a 17 turnover half at Radford and then an 18 turnover half at Hampton, DH should have been fired then. So, I don't believe for a moment that this idea wasn't cemented until after the BSU loss. Short of an NCAA bid, this decision was made a long-time ago. Of course Dambrot will stick with the program if he is any good. However, to be any good, he must begin recruiting better players on a consistent basis. Division 3 players like B-Hip, and Nick Myers will not cut it. Where are the 6-5 G/F types who can break down the defense and hit the 8-10-12 footer? One guy on the team (DP) like this is a recipe for disaster. Where is the "thick" 6-8 guy in the middle? Time will tell, but Futch may belong to the above category as well. As for B-Hip, it's time to put an end to this chatter. KD will not commit coaching suicide and play this guy. KD, like everyone else, will say the right things however his playing time at UA is done. It's just unfortunate he cost us that game two years ago. Go Zips, get me to the dance and then worry about busting out of the JAR.
