  1. No, what you've said is way too much! Making a prediction that the Zips may win or lose or even listing the schedule with your predicted outcome (W or L) would have been sufficient. But with you, every tOSU topic eventually contains about every frickin' tOSU statistic known to mankind while also listing the entire roster. It's evident to everyone here where your loyalties are.CK said it beautifully. Balki followed-up with a slam dunk.
  2. Every few months the topic of why a very select few of us on this board dislikes tOSU. The diehard tOSU fans who post on this board subsequently get ticked and posts like this happen. There are three main reasons why you cannot have it both ways, although many pretend to do so. Either you are a true Zips fan or you are a tOSU fan, you cannot be both. You are either truly with UA or you are against UA.First, tOSU is an opponent. Twenty years ago when UA was D-IAA there was a clear delineation between the schools (at least in football). Since then, first we moved to the D1 level, then joined the MAC and within 15 years of moving up, tOSU begins scheduling us. In every other sport, the true/blue fan does not root for an opponent. Yet the so called UA-OSU fan finds someway to rationalize this. While it is fully understandable that many of us did not grow up rooting for the Zips, yet most of us did attend the University, I cannot see how you can call yourself a fan, yet pull for the opponent. Reason enough to dislike tOSU.Second, we have to recruit players too! Several times before I made the comment that there isn’t one Browns fan out there hoping that the Steelers sign and draft all the good players. Yet, the so called UA-OSU fan gets pumped every February when the best players sign at tOSU, many of them from NE Ohio and even more from Akron. It’s immaterial that they will inevitably get good players. It’s just puzzling to me how you can call yourself a Zips fan when in seven months you have to play against the players you were delighted to see tOSU sign. An even more compelling reason to dislike tOSU!Third, is fan base. There are approximately 90,000 UA alums living in NE Ohio yet most of them refuse to support their University while most of them openly pull for tOSU. Huh! Believe me, there will be more UA alums at the tOSU game next September pulling for tOSU than their own alma mater. Add in several hundred thousand people in the greater Akron/Summit area and you will be hard pressed to find even a few thousand non-alums pulling for the Zips. Why? Because they root for tOSU! Are there a handful of alums/fans who sit home to watch ND, Michigan, USC or FSU? Absolutely! But nothing compared to the tens of thousands who do this for tOSU. Sick enough reason to dislike tOSU and their fans.Furthermore, OSU has such a foothold throughout the state when it comes to their fan base that it’s virtually impossible to penetrate. If UA alums (and every other alum at all the other DI schools in Ohio) touted their school like they should, maybe this would change. When my kids come home from school and tell me that there is a scarlet and gray dress-up day, my note is written that they will dress up in scarlet and gray the day after (not really) you have a Zips blue and gold day. And many of these teachers/administrators who put on these days are UA alums, but I digress. At the end of the day, the Zips building a winning tradition will go a long, long way toward respectability. For you so called UA-OSU fans, tOSU going 2-10 every year for a decade will help even more. Believe me, the option of watching a bad tOSU team or going to watch a competitive Zips squad would inevitably put thousands of more fans in the seats, which is yet another reason to hope they lose. Add in the fact that we have The Columbus Beacon Journal, The Columbus Plain Dealer, and tOSU sports’ talk shoved in our face all fall, how can you not help but despise them.I could go on……Finally, for fans like sgm405 I will end with this. If you think for one minute that the tOSU fans you encountered on your way out of the stadium in 2001 were sincere, you are an @#$%%^. (since name calling isn’t allowed) The only reason they had anything nice to say was because they won. tOSU has some of the most reprehensible fans on the face of the earth, just ask the Texas fans! If the Zips can somehow pull the upset this fall, and you have any Zips gear on, you just better hope you can get out of the stadium alive. Believe me, if I can get back to my vehicle (with UA license plates) I fully expect it to be up in flames. Boy I love tOSU.
  3. I believe this request has been made before!
  4. You are a complete asshole. Who mentioned anything about who would win in a game between the two schools? Nobody! We are just sick and tired of your fake posts, like you give a darn about the U of A. Within 5 minutes after the Miami debacle, you were onto Luckeye land. Go away!
  5. sgm405 please just go away! Far, far away! You post on here like you are a Zips fan when you are just another Luckeye homer. Go find a Red and silver board and leave us alone.
  6. That is funny! Agree! Agree! Mostly disagree.I have a hard time trying to find 5 wins on this schedule. Last year we bitched alot about the schedule bec. of all the November games as well as the three opening road games. Still, we had a lot of guys back and a perennial power like Toledo lost their qb, Can't always sucked, etc... so I thought we had a fighting chance.....for 6 wins. Wrong again.1. I consider the Army game a road tilt, not a home game. If we win and draw 35K, good move. Otherwise, I have no real desire to go watch my Zips in Cleveland. The Q (in Cleveland) brings back bad enough memories....2. Completely disagree with playing two big-ten teams on the road. One on the road and one at home, OK. Otherwise, find someone else to play even if we have to go the IAA route. Also, Connecticut demands a home game? Are they coming to UA next year? This better not be a 2 road for 1 home game deal. 3. Thank god the MU game is on a Wednesday and away. That way, I have no chance of going to that one. Watching on tv will be brutal enough. Here's hoping that I am way off base and all those highly ranked recruiting classes are as good as advertised. Otherwise, it could be another long year on the gridiron.
  7. The headline article of the sports section in today's edition of the New York Times puts Akron's snub front and center for the entire world to read.Harvey Araton writes a beautiful piece--the hard copy title "Unhappy Ending for a Star's Supporting Cast".The online version--"A Star's Supporting Cast Takes a Bitter Bow". Finally, the Lebron connection pays off, I guess. If you have access to the article, please attach the link. Harvey can be reached at hjaraton@nytimes.com.
  8. It was a rather uneventful day at the Q with a heavy Michigan flavor as all three teams won..........EMU hit about 7 threes in the first 15 minutes and held on for the win.......Bubba single handedly carried the Bobcats.....He went from 5 points to 17 in about 6 game minutes.....Central blew the big lead and hung on by 6. ......Western scrapped out the win as well. Kool was 2-10 from the field......By my count, Ball State, Central Michigan and Eastern had about 20 fans each for the game (bands and cheerleaders not included). OU's and BG's turnout was weak, at best. Buffalo had about 10 students in a section. A far cry from the 8 busloads they brought in 2 years ago......Overall, the attendance looked pretty embarrassing from my vantage point.....Western's fans were very complimentary and vocal. Was told the Zips deserved an at-large bid by several......Western has the hottest looking dance team in the MAC. Reminded me of the girls at NC State........and the officiating still sucks..........How is Ced the 6th man of the year, but not at least an honorable mention pick?

  10. Foul? Absolutely. In this instance there is NO need to let anything develop and wait a split second. The foul should have been called IMMEDIATELY.It's calls like this that make me wonder if the fix is on. Giving up a sure two points to send the worst FT shooter to the line is the result. Blow the whistle now.....waiting makes him look indecisive.
  11. They sure tried. Glad to see someone else watched the same game I did. Starting by trying to foul out Dru, to the typical bad call on a charge/flop to give Rome his second foul, the numerous times Dials was hammered while handling the ball, the phantom walk on Nate and the Wood pass/Romeo dunk-call a foul 4 seconds later as described by CK, this was a joke. But folks, it could have been worse. And did everyone see the black offical run off the court at the end of regulation. He thought the game was over.Rick Cryst and his officals should be shot...He is a piece of shit commissioner.Onto the game, a few other comments:Where was Dru's head at last night? How many of his turnover were of the unforced variety? ......Giving up 19 offensive rebounds will be our downfall, if we have one.......Points off turnovers -19. Embarrassing......Are we the worst fast break team ever assembled. Aside from the Middleton one on none breaks, we are clueless. Showtime we are not! It sure seems to me that we pass the ball on the break before the defender ever commits. Deflections and steals going the other way result.......Conyers did play great D. His half-court pass at the end of the first half cost us from going up by 14 or 15 and it cost Jimmy valuable playing time in the second half.....Wasn't an MVP performance by Rome. Will it hurt his chances?.....Wood, very much an MVP performance.......Memo to KD, when you get a lead, stop all the running and gunning and taking quick shots...run some clock, pound it into the paint and rotate the ball as we know how......Props to Nick Dials and J. Wood. A big THANK YOU from this Zips fan.
  12. Also, FSN had the tourney match-ups all wrong. They had us playing the WMU/NI winner, which of course is wrong.
  13. I have two tickets for Session I and Session II for sale.Session I consists of all 4 games on Wednesday. Seating for these games is general admission. Seating is in Section 120 Row 2, Seat 1 and Seat 2. My ticket price is $15 per ticket. Please leave me a personal message, if interested. Will be at the Can't game tomorrow as well.
  14. I couldn't agree less. While I will certainly miss Dru and Rome once the season ends, I will not miss the ridiculous banter and press about the Zips connection with LeBron. Sure, Dru, Rome and KD will always have a connection, the Zips however do not. The only reason he comes around is because of those guys, not the Zips basketball program. If KD were to leave, you would never see Lebron at a game again and he certainly isn't involved in their operations...Now I see that Luckeye land has Lebron's Nike logo on their jersey--so much for his exclusive love for the Zips. Get over it, there is none.
  15. I cannot believe you guys would waste that much time typing a post about Rybak....If he continues to play, he may surpass the standard set by B. Hip....I would seriously consider playing 4 on 5, instead.....at least it would give us better spacing on the court.
  16. At this point in the season, I am still unclear how we play out the rest of the sesaon after that performance........Dru was hounded all night long by their small quick guards. He was very frustrated and at one point tossed his headband into the stands..Not only was he held scoreless, he made several poor passes into the post....Rybak..Hell must be freezing over....He hit a few shots...Still, he made a couple turnovers and has no business on the court. ...McKnight....Had no confidence last night. Seems lost in the offense and Dambrot is hesitant to play him much. Was called for walking on a move to the hoop (I didn't see the walk).....did come back a minute later to score.... With Wood and Quade in foul trouble, he should have played more and maybe could have saved Wood from fouling out. Ditto for Conyers...doesn't seem into the flow on offense....Dials...Best scoring game of his career....Hit many mid-range jumpers as well. He is the key at the Q. If he can score for us in Cleveland, I like our chances......Rome....Another outstanding performance....Seemed tired at the start....but kicked it in as the game progressed. He, too, hit many mid-range jumpers. We seemed to have no problem getting it into him in the post. Once inside, they took away the drive, so he took many mid-range J's....and hit them. The two charging fouls were horrible. Both should have been no calls...Overall, it was an excellent start of the game and start of the second half. Great energy with our shot blockers, however I am not sure why Quade and Rome both are trying to block the shot. Many times this left Duquesne free for the easy put back. Why not have one guy jumping and the other rebounding?Still, the second half was a carbon copy of the BG game. Get out to a double digit lead...we kept running and hitting, they kept missing. Up 15, we kept running and taking quick shots and then started to miss. They began draining 3 after 3 and the more they made, they quicker we shot or made a bad half court or cross court pass, that led to balls getting deflected to Duquesne for an easy lay-up or wide open 3. A 15 point lead goes to one. Can't we come up with a team rule that says once we get up 15, we have to take our time, get the ball down low and run the offense, using some clock? Not sure what all the running and gunning does at that point in the game.....Finally, overall, was not very impressed with Duquesne. I see why they are 10 and whatever. They didn't quit however, although their comeback had more to do with our inconsistent play, than the Dukes doing anything that impressive. We clearly were the better team.P.S. Sweich was in attendance.
  17. Where is the rule that says a two year player cannot be retired! Again, Boyce was the best frickin player since JJ and a champion (OVC) as well. We complain that we have no go to guy. Boyce would take and make the big shot all the time. Retire his number!
  18. Agree--very annoying, and disagree on the recognition--we get one ESPN 2 game and all they talked about was LeBron. The last time I checked he hasn't scored even one point for us or won us any games, so enough with the gravy training........Saturday should be about Rome and Dru.....No one else.....
  19. Cricket deserves to be there....but the best player on that team was Marcel Boyce. His number 21 deserves to be retired. The second best player in Zip history over the last 27 years should be retired. That team goes nowhere without MB....
  20. So what...The 7 fouls in 5 minutes to start the game is the difference. You were given at least 6 unearned points on Ft's and extra possessions and we were handcuffed the entire first half defensively, which also impacted getting easy buckets offensively... It's all in how the games are called, and we get shafted all the time on the road. When Miami came to Akron earlier in the year, they were called for ONE frickin foul the entire first half. If the Zips got that kind of officiating yesterday, we would have been up 15, not down 10. Stop penalizing our great defense with foul calls! Good defense my ass. It's that awful brand of offense where your slow stiffs take 35 seconds off the clock every time to shorten the game, so obviously there are fewer possessions and less scoring....
  21. Agree completely...Miami is a glorified high school team....and Charlie C. and his bs brand of basketball should be outlawed. They win at home with all the calls, and stink on the road.....While we obviously had our chances and blew it and should get the blame!....I am curious if anybody else agrees on how the league/officiating impacts the outcome? The ridiculous calls the first 5 minutes changed everything! It gave MU at least 6 unearned points at the line, while taking us out of rythum on D for the entire first half. Furthermore our good D is negated by the foul calls which also impacts our flow and possible extra possessions on offense..... The same could be said for the two free gifts at the line to open the OT period. Enough with giving the home team two easy points, make them make a basket......and we obviously aren't good enough to overcome any adversity on the road.....MU is a far cry from the WS days...Why anyone would want to play for CC is puzzling? I was going through the radio if I heard one more time how MU is turning it around. You can give that team a two day bye at the Q and they still don't make the finals...
  22. bigzipguy....what are you doing trying to scare people away? It's Monday morning and you're worried about a snowstorm 30 hours away...you sound like the Cleveland tv meteorologists inciting panic with the weather warnings and updates scrolling across the tv over a little bit of snow in the forecast.
  23. The Zips Win! road jinx is alive and well....skhorbotly, I couldn't have said it better myself. Game analysis is right on. Shame on me for actually going to these road games and thinking we might get a fair whistle. Outstanding performance guys, even in defeat...
  24. The Zips had a football banquet? I'm glad they advertised this to the general public. How pathetic!!!!!!!
  25. So.....his team lost in the finals to a team with a Can't player on it. Figures.
