Does this game count towards eligibility since it wasn't a DI team? I can't remember all the nuances of the eligibility rule.

Nice to hear the student section was strong. They seemed to support the soccer team well this season, so it's nice to hear that could be carrying over.

The only question I have regarding the game is who did we see play that didn't play vs OSUcks & WVU? I know Kalle and Wynn were mentioned. How did they look? How did any others look?

I can't take anything else away from a game against Point Park. Does Bishop Sycamore have a basketball team? If so, why didn't we schedule them?

The scheduling of Point Park appears to have been very strategic as it sets us up beautifully for ... Wheeling.  🤨

    That opening drive was NICE!!

Announcer said Coach Rodriguez will not be retained. What if Zips win out? Not saying hes THE GUY, but he should be able to earn a chance to be in conversation. Maybe?

Announcer also said O Rod had never been a head coach if I heard him correctly. Staff member at best. This HAS to be a good (great?) hire.

  3. Never cared for all of the 'you knows' and coach-speak/cliches (answer the damn question). Gave me a sense that he was not fully in command and in over his head. Fine for a smaller school/lower level of play but O-fers and 1-fers are just not acceptable, especially when you look pretty bad doing it.

Not happy from a financial perspective assuming we don't really have a good way to fund a buy-out (big doner?) but feeling a sense of relief. Best of luck to Tom.

The better question is at what point will the outcome not be in doubt and people will start strolling out of Infocision?

I would say about 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

There will be people inside Infocision?

I hadn't hit 'Submit' just yet but was going to say that NW's post assumes that there were people strolling in.

We were giving him crap during the match, but Georgia State Panther's Matthew Fearnley is a good player.  He also looks like he is not adverse to combat.

    Ask Danny Strachan about #10.

Yeah, that's the face of a guy who grew up pretty much in the middle between Liverpool and Manchester. Hard to grow up candy-ass in that neck of the English woods (have NO idea why there are two of each pic and cannot delete the dups - sorry about that) ...

  6. Players and coaches working hard this week to improve in all four phases of the game - offense, defense, special teams and in-game sideline management.

Prediction #1: ZERO sideline warnings. That's right - no first offense!

Prediction #2: Zips win this one going away 30-29.

The Zips have soared to #124 in the USA Today FBS rankings, just one spot behind winless Arizona.   Miami falls two spots to 112 after a close loss at the fightin' EMUs.  Zips are 19.5 point dogs at Miami (Opened at 22.5) and will need to keep proving Vegas wrong to get any respect.  Credit where credit is due, the team looked better in the 2nd half.  Let's hope the QB situation works itself out and the improved play continues.  Not gonna get 5 turnovers every game, most likely.  Defense will need to continue to make strides as well.

That is just bizarre to me to see P5 schools like Arizona, Kansas and Vanderbilt THAT far down the list and keeping Akron and Miami (OH) company. Looks like we're in the running for pillow fight of the week. Very much looking forward to it - Go Zips!

Me, too! This team is loaded with individual talent. I know it's young, and I may be expecting too much, but last night was hard to take. Folks can say it was one game, but it was 1 of only 6 MAC games (17% of the MAC schedule), and it was at home. I've been to Northern Illinois; it's a tough place to play even when they are bad. N Ill beat WVU 2-0 yesterday. WMU is not an easy place to play either. BUGS looks strong this year. They will be a tough challenge, and you can bet their fans will show up in droves given their success this year, including the "2020 Season". That one may feel more like a BG home match if we don't match their turn out. There is no given that we will be one of the top 4 MAC regular season teams. Squandering a MAC home match is ugly!

You're one of our soccer "go-to's" and you just made this feel like the Football thread! 😉 You're not wrong though. Need to iron some things out or we're going to be on the outside looking in again this year and that's rough when we now EXPECT to be playing for the College Cup year in and year out.

I was on the road all day.  Looks like someone saved their job today.

I'll admit that I thought they were done.  To Arth's credit, it can't be easy to motivate a team that has had the Zips record but he obviously pulled it off today.

... or did Gibson's play motivate this team? I realize the goal line stand was there in the 1st quarter but both sides of the ball looked different 2nd half.

If all three QBs are healthy next week who starts?

The one that made the bus - Gibson!

(I'm a fan of Irons as well but my answer is still Gibson. Tired of the run-pass option. Prefer Gibson's style of play.)

The new-look Zips OL played fine today. Pleasant surprise. Happy for all the players…first road win in 3 years! They deserve to celebrate tonight.

Was going to post something similar 'North-South.' A LOT of yards North-South. Nice job Hester.
