I think this will be a high scoring affair for an opener.
Zips 41 / Cowboys 37
Over/Under48.5 total points (DraftKings)
Key Storylines• This is the first ever meeting between the two programs. • Akron has struggled historically in season‑openers against FBS opponents (13 straight losses), but they hold a 1‑0 record vs. Mountain‑West teams. • Wyoming hopes to rebound from a down year and prove they can compete despite a major transfer exodus after 2022.

Dr. Goodrich is certainly enthusiastic and it’s apparent that he has the personality to build excitement and engagement. I’m hopeful for this new era of Zips athletics.
Good interview. He seems very likeable and determined.

Erroneous post... it was for a low academic progress rate, not "bad grades"

Better than a loss

Interesting list. A lot of those teams have turned things around to say the least.

From the graphic I think it's an Zips Athletics Club event. Probably not intended for us unruly blue hairs.
Eminently crashable, I'm sure.

When did Reghi turn into a bowling ball?
IDK but I like him better in this interviewing role than doing play by play 🎳

I think the bigger issue is how the government visa restrictions will affect international recruiting. ADs' and coaches' hands are tied; that's what "we" voted for.

OU's faculty senate wields a lot of power. They fight every new investment in intercollegiate athletics. Heads would explode.
Not gonna lie, that warms my heart a little..

Can our new football rivalry with UMass be for anything other than the Polymer Pigskin trophy?
(Athletic depts: feel free to run with that)

Any JMU matchup is of much more interest to me than Ark.St (they would have been a great MAC addition). Freeman, Johnson & Co. got throttled by them a couple of years ago so it will be good to have another go in Akron.

I don't know about an easy win, but it's a game Akron should win. Moreover, it's a game Akron needs to win. I don't know how many games are "must win" games in week one, but this is one for Akron.
Wyoming is a known college football brand and they even have a helmet everyone in the country recognizes. Heck, it's the name of a beautiful state. Akron has beaten better teams in the history of the program. Marshall, Northwestern, Syracuse and NIU in the MAC come to mind.
I'll say at least one of Wyoming/UAB is must-win. Can't go 1-3 with this OOC schedule.

Is this the first time since Akron has been in the MAC that Ohio is not on the schedule? Weird.
As far as I can remember we have played every year as members of the same MAC division.

I don’t see us winning at Toledo or pulling off a home win over Miami—those programs look like they’ve reloaded pretty well
Good news: they can't take us lightly. Bad news: they won't take us lightly. Especially Toledo after last year. Would love to pluck the Redsquawks.

Looks like we got our first verbal for '26. Yeboa Cobbold, Jr. An athlete from Philly. In his bio he listed his positions as DB/WR/QB. I'm gonna go ahead and list him as a DB in post #1.
Just speculating but if he lists QB as one of his positions and is committing early to us he may have hopes of playing QB here.

That could be a good thing for us since a lot of gamers like to see how far they can take an underdog team.

Game Number One: Wyoming

Not his fault. He told the QB to take care of the ball and the kicker to make the FG.
