  1. I see no evidence that Aaris Reed signed on the Scouts link you put on your blog. Who do you say he signed with? Anyone?
  2. The MAC report has our signing time as 3:30 but Tommy Gelehrter said 5:00 on the broadcast last night. Does anyone know for sure what time this is supposed to happen?
  3. I also checked this out since some bad info has been posted recently. Way to go coaching staff. We also moved up two spots to 62 on the Rivals team recruiting chart. Ohio is a distant third in MAC recruiting. Go zips! :macc:
  4. A bit harsh, don't you think? We all have opinions and we all support the team. Let's leave the insults for the opponents. Working in the fourth guard would certainly help at the end of the game. I worry about fouls when the guards are spent and reaching with their arms instead of moving the feet. We can't have these guys getting into foul trouble, especially if the game is close at the end.
  5. I also worry about the loss of big leads but the end result is the most important thing and this team grinds it out.
  6. Yes on Morelli. Harvey doesn't list Akron on his school choices but is interested in PSU. We open against them this year and they sure could help us right away.
  7. On Frenchie's show last night he mentioned that the game will have MAC officials. I also agree that this is a good draw for the team although it would have been nice to have a closer game. These are young guys and the travel should have a lot less effect on them. This may help them get ready for travel when we become :macc: !!!
  8. I agree with ftbr. They're just yellow (like their uni's) with envy at our success. As for UAM, he looks good regardless what k ent does.
  9. A very good hire. It doesn't hurt that he was the main recruiter at Indiana. Now lock up those zip recruits left wondering. Then a :macc: followed by an ncaa championship.
  10. I agree with ftbr. Even with k ent's history of success, they were left out last year. We will add bball to the :macc: list
  11. Agreed. Let's get it done! :macc:
  12. I would have to disagree with your assessment of Steve French. He is a true professional who tells it like it is. If we stink, he'll say so. He gives a real sense of the emotion of the game. I think he's actually quite exciting to listen to, especially when we play well. That's part of being a good broadcaster. He and Joe Dunn are very knowlegeable and offer excellent insight into the game and that includes their football broadcasts. Keep on listening, I'm sure he'll grow on you.
  13. Get over yourself and see if the free clinic or for lack of one, a veterinarian will help you out and give you the medicine you so desperately need! :macc:
  14. Take the keys away from ohiofan. Definately high on something. Must be partying with frank-the-tank! :macc:
  15. I can't find it here. What's up with the site? Can only find Dec. 8 and older.
  16. I too like the idea of a retro look with lots of brick, wrought iron, arches, etc. Some of these items can be added at a later date but the provisions to add these things I believe need to be part of the original design. Parking will be a key factor and they need to try to put parking on all sides of the stadium to ease with the congestion when exiting. No one will want to park at Polsky deck if they put the stadium behind the rec center. They should have room for groups to tailgate. I haven't given this too much thought but these are some ideas I hope they endorse.
  17. The article starts with him mentioning the correct team. He does change the team later in the article. It's not a huge mistake but a bigger problem for the Beacon if as you mention it happens in every article, what are the editors doing? With a 4 page sports page on most days, which also contains advertisements, what is the sports editor doing with all his/her time? It's not unreasonable for professional journalists to get the story straight. Mr Gaffney's mistake was minor compared to other miscues in the Beacon. Now that they have seen the light, I hope they continue to follow their home town university.
  18. If you read through all the posts you'll see that I addressed the Zips need for a new football stadium and basketball arena. I was responding to another post about my opinion of the JAR from the same original post. I believe the priority should be to put a new football stadium on campus and then address the basketball arena. "Tiny" Cameron Indoor Stadium seats 9314, similar to the original projected capacity (9500) of the JAR which is now 5500. People were physically smaller when those facilities were built. Go sit in a seat at Memorial Hall and see what you think. Let Duke worry about their own buildings, I'm talking about Akron's facilities. I still believe the JAR was inadequate when it was built and looks like a fancy high school gym. The video scoreboard is very nice but a more recent addition. The Rubber Bowl is too far from campus and too expensive to fix. If you've never been to Miami's football stadium it's worth a look and should be a blueprint for what we build here. Whatever is eventually built, I hope they leave provisions to enlarge or improve these new facilities so we can end up with buildings that are the envy of the league. :macc:
  19. The contracts have escape clauses. Strike while the iron's hot. Build the best MAC facility and move the team with the coach. Why can't Akron be the next Va. Tech.??? :macc:
  20. That's a monster vault! Way to go Mr. Russell.
  21. If he doesn't want Akron so be it. Instead of working harder to earn the minutes he felt he deserved he chose to transfer. This team has a ton of upside with or without Bubba. We get a scholarship back and he's not part of something special here at Akron. Let's call that a push and move on.
  22. I see that sarcasm has escaped you. That is my point, the JAR is an embarassment. We agree on that point! No homer here. :macc:
  23. The JAR is one of the nicest high school gymnasiums I have had the pleasure of seeing. It's time for the University to build appropriate facilities for the basketball and football teams. If they are different facilities, the football stadium should proceed first to bring the program on campus. With the continued success of the football team, the basketball arena would soon follow.
