I will be stunned if CJ doesn't win the job. JD has been very high on him from day one and he has the greatest upside of all the QB's (Hakes included). I just hope that he has the mental thoughness to become the leader of the offense and eventually the team. Time will tell but with Jac as his back up I am not worried and Rodgers will be groomed as the next starter.

what about the freshmen? has moore cleared to practice yet? on a side note i really don't want to see williams waste a year of eligibility by being the number three back and returning kicks. he has far too much talent for that. i'd prefer to see him red shirt and groom him to be the man next year and the year after when DK and Pinky graduate. any thoughts?

went to high school for a few years and also worked with Jacki. She's a great person with an amazing work ethic. She also was decent on the hardwood (understatement of the year). I am very happy for her! Congrats Jackie!

the roster posted as of 8/11 doesn't show Reed. I am a little concerned about Moore though. Could some one please find out about his status with the team as well?

saw a pretty good ad in the PD for the game today in the sports section. also a pretty good article about the growth of the campus in the metro section (although the head line show us a akron u). not a bad day for press in Cleveland

with him sitting this year and having 2 years left he could share carries with then senior Williams. if he doesn't get enough touches as a Rb he's shown he's versitle enough to play the slot. again, more talent coming Akron's way.

this was bound to happen but i thought it was going to be jac not hakes. as for this being a family issue, sure it's that his family thinks he should play. go to the iowa threads and read up on bain's transfer and you see it pretty much the same thing. to me this cements CJ as the starter. he has the best tools of all the Akron qb's and as long as he's not turning the ball over a ton he'll be the starter for the next three years. Jac is the perfect backup. He's not going to blow you away with his ability but he tends to do everything well. if something goes bad i won't worry about putting him in. that leaves Rodgers who will have two years left once CJ graduates. I haven't seen much of him but he seems to be an athlete with a short armer throwing style ala Danny Warfuel SP. I wrote a similar thread about the running back situation but look for that next year when pinky and Williams are ready to get carries. for those who look at this as negative, don't. this shows that there is plenty of talent on the rostercan't wait for Cleveland!

freaking amazing! i am pumped! listened to the press conference and the one thing that caught my ear was a late interview with Ted Curtis when he said as long as they could get all of the land by the end of the year they will have no problem for the opener in 09..... great news, great site, great day!

DR. Z I have been secreting hoping that the ideas being pitched would match that of UVA. Now that I've seen the pictures for the first time I feel your assessment is dead on! When I was at that game I thought Thomas Jefferson himself was going to ride down that hill! Also they did a great job of incorporating the stadium with the look of the campus. It appears Akron has the same vision and that is a great thing! As for parking, UVA is another great comparison. The lots around the stadium were at a premium but people tailgated from store parking lots to the front yards of students. Most students should take note from their fellow students and charge to park on their front yards! A couple full yards at 5 a pop and you've got a month's rent (or one kick ass party!) Can't wait for the ground breaking and more details!

Dave you are insane! How's that for feedback

looks like Thompson resigned today. this is going to get ugly for ball state.

Can we please end this thread???????

I couldn't find much on Tyler. It appears that he was all league twice and is a DB. here's a link from a miami site click me since he's a 07 recruit i am assuming that he's walking on or is a preferred walk on. seems to have some speed though.

Here's the link. Rasor already posted it.click meall joking aside about Steele, he happens to have David Harvey on this list. does he know something we don't? has anyone heard anything about his classes this summer? same questions go for Lindsey.
-
I am assuming you are referring to coach Callahan. Not only is he a great coach but he's done wonders for the program as far as expanding it's recruitment west into Ill. Prior to this coaching regime anything west of Indy was considered a far off land. glad to hear the hard work paying off for the staff!

thanks for the link cap. i am going to echo some of the thoughts on their board that i agree with. many people on this forum talk about what akron and the mac needs to do to get to that next level be it tops in the mac or bolting to a new conference. i hate to break it to everyone but the only way the university is going to do that is by bringing in more revenue. all of the bigger schools do this. if you are ok with where the school is at than that's fine but please do not complain about how ticket prices went up or how no one will show. donors who have buying those seats for the past 20 years will shell out more just to have them (even if they don't show for the game) and for those who have seats down there, either pony up or move back. it's that simple. sometimes progress hurts some but if done the right way it will benefit all involved.
-
i for one am very optimistic! everything the university has built in the past 10 years has turned out great! as for some of the eminent domain talk here's a really good article that explains what has been going on recently with state/city law. click me i am not from the toledo area but came across the article and found it to be very informative.

i think the difference between the two is that bain saw the field a decent amount at iowa were big nate didn't play much due to health and attitude issues (sound familiar?) both were big time talents that seem to think that they are owed playing time. even if bain is ok it will be a great pick up as it's very hard to find quality DL as a mid major. as long as this kid can stay out of trouble and someone puts a mussel on his father i think he'll produce more than nate. also, even if nate didn't live up to the hype he's still productive and probably will get drafted due to his size. it's always been up to nate and how bad he wants it. lets hope he figures it out this year.

talk about the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.... after that game they are showing the MAC basketball title game. on a side note, it's part of the "ohio" cram session and it's good to see Akron getting some run!

click melooks like he got the ok today lets get him!

another 6'1 combo guard???? i think the team has enough of them.
-
i don't think they'll move any running backs although you could see some packages with a wr. flanked out from time to time. if all three wide outs are truly gone then look for the three incoming frosh to step up. most people have talked about hill but royal has tons of speed and is over 6 ft. tall. gray pride is lightning quick and will give people fits in the slot.
K.e.n.t. Declines 2008 Patriot Bowl

the patriot bowl is only supposed to include ohio mac teams and the service schools so the directional mi. teams wouldn't get a shot.
