  1. Not much to speak of in the way of fan support there. Only interesting tidbit was this: I remember when people said that about John Wooden's teams!
  2. YES! I was thinking of this over the weekend. I would think though, that Mark could possibly get a BCS job in another couple years, if Arizona keeps up their play of this year. Let's ask CJ Kauffman if he can put out a holler to his homeboy from Tucson.
  3. Remind me not to have STZ negotiate for me, or the University. He's way too anxious to give away the farm! Why say ahead of time that you are going to pay more than anyone else ever has, when you are hiring someone comparable to the best the league already has to offer? I believe Golden makes <400k (at least his base salary), and Temple is frankly the highest profile athletic school in the MAC -- which is why they only belong in one sport. That fact might establish an exclusion for trying to compete with their $$. The salary cited in the article is reasonable, or frankly -- ridiculous, compared to what people make in the "real world".
  4. We are making a youtube video and sending it to him.But I imagine the Great GP-1 has already completed his. Do we need to redunditate our leader?
  5. I have to respectfully disagree. After seeing TA&M play this past weekend, they are a top 20-25 team. I think our best game from last year would still make us double digit losers on the road. Let's keep it under/near 20, and I won't be disappointed.
  6. You know I feel like the proverbial since I've complained about the offensive line play since 2005, but why not one more time. Most of the O-linemen JD recruited were the reason his recruiting classes were ranked as high in the MAC as they were. On the field however -- the performance was the opposite. This is one specific point I will be looking at closely in 2010. If their play doesn't improve, there will be little chance for overall improvement in wins-losses. I'd consider 5-6 wins in 2010 to be a success.
  7. After the Pine Bluff game, Humpty ran over to tell the coach he was sorry when one of their players shoved him away. KD told Humpty to tell the coach he was sorry, so that's all he was doing. The AD ran into the locker room and that's when KD told him what happened. Humpty did almost get into another little altercation with one of Niagara's players. So what was Humpty apologizing to the coach FOR?
  8. Second thread in a row for this comment: Yes, I CAN spell facetious. However, I'm afraid if LeBron gets involved we'll end up with Maverick Carter coaching the team.
  9. Yes, I CAN spell facetious. But for the record, teams like Texas Tech and Hawai'i don't have a tight end on their rosters.
  10. Ummmmm...I think maybe you mean "rabbi".
  11. Folks, watch this Stanford Cardinal. As the link shows, he was Top Drawer Soccer's #1 recruit a year ago. He came off the bench and played 45 mins vs UCI on Sunday.http://www.gostanford.com/sports/m-soccer/...hi_dersu00.html
  12. So for this game attendance starts with total season tix sold, times 5? It might be a sellout!
  13. Like I said earlier, don't be surprised by a repeat of the 63-60 barnburner of 2000.
  14. I've been to Maples Pavillion, and I can tell you -- da tree (with help from the Cardinal student section) puts on a show unlike any other mascot. You should hope he shows up -- but Notre Dame's coming to town this weekend. Well, at least Stanford should win one!
  15. Can you say, "Coppin State"?
  16. Holy Cow! I hope if our new AD is irresponsible enough to keep JD, that you raise Hell with him. A new coach will likely take 2-3 years to become competitive, but at least there will be some hope -- and some butts in the Info's seats. I'm pretty confident that Tommy Dub knows a change has got to be made. And an increased commitment must be shown in who the next coach is. No local yocals (Heacock), no washed up former BCS coaches (Mason). Get someone with a real future. Someone who other programs will want to grab away from Akron.
  17. According to the box score, Ronnie played on Sunday vs Howard. What's his condition and schedule? Somebody ask KD and get back to me on that.
  18. Z.I.P.

    Effort

Even when the coach was Gerry Faust, and Akron was losing, the team was known for playing physical football -- especially on the offensive line. That hasn't been the case in many years. Akron is now known as a lightweight. I don't know how to change that, but it can be done -- no, it MUST be done! We keep getting beat like
  19. So what are you suggesting? Throw roses on the field Sunday? Have a parade on Thursday? Only problem with that is, I believe UCLA is PAC-10 champs. We might meet them in N.C.
  20. ''I was a guy who would do all the dirty work and make the players around me better,'' Porter said. ''I was smart defensively, and I was tough.''And I would rather die than lose.''Now that sums up what I would like to see in MY football club. In fact, the Rowdies might be interested in that as a chant in our next two games this November-December.
  21. Game over my friends! Ampai scores X 2 to provide the margin of victory. Another Dave Meves clean sheet. Shots were 14-1! Is anyone keeping the total goals scoresheet for the season? Gotta be nearing 60-5 or something around there.
  22. 20 minutes played in the second half. No goals but shots are 4-0 for Akron this half. Continued domination. Looks like they're putting it together in the post-season. Even nearly keeping up with USF in fouls 9-10. Zach can tell us later how Dir-Tee the opposition has been! Meanwhile, we're starting the march to
  23. In other 2nd round games, Tulsa was forced to OT by a 90th minute goal by St Louis, but the Golden Canes pulled it out with a golden goal 7 minutes into the OT period.Virginia looks really hot at this point -- beating Bucknell 5-0, Will Bates and Tony Tchani each scoring a pair for the Cavaliers. My darkhorse team, Harvard defeated Monmouth 3-0 in Cambridge today.
  24. It's halftime folks. Grab a hotdog, as the Zippers lead 2-0. Shots are 7-1 for the home team.
  25. Make it a BRACE, Baby!!! Second goal for Tony Ampai in minute 33! 2-0 Akron. We are on our way to playing the winner of Stanford @ UC Irvine.
