  1. A few random responses...- To whoever said Charlie is a better leader than DA, how do you know? Are you in the clubhouse? If you ask me, it seems like the players love DA...DA also doesn't get rattled at all, while Frye usually did (look at his 4th quarters numbers). - Lots of different excuses...Charlie didn't have an o-line, Charlie didn't have receivers, Charlie didn't have a running game, Charlie didn't have coaching, DA is playing easy teams, Charlie had the sun in his eyes, blah blah blah blah. I understand - he didn't have the late 80's Niners around him - but at what point does Charlie take ownership of some of the fault? Ever???- It's obvious that Charlie will never do wrong in the eyes of many on this board. Charlie could get the snap, crap his pants, and quick-kick the ball towards his own endzone and some of you would blame the split end for not getting open. - To me, this is the bottom line:CAREER STATS------------------------------------------------------------------PLAYER A - 13 GP (5-5 as Starter)- 83 RAT, 214-374, 57%, 2901 YDS, 223 YPG, 7.8 YPA, 22 TD, 17 INT, 16 Sacks, 5 Fumb.PLAYER B-21 GP (6-13 as Starter)- 71 RAT, 354-568, 62 %, 3490 YDS, 162 YPG, 6.1 YPA, 14 TD, 24 INT, 71 Sacks, 15 Fumb.Which player would you rather have? Obviously, A is DA, B is Frye. And if that's not enough, how about one being a Pro Bowl candidate and one not even being the #2 QB on his team? If that doesn't convince you enough, nothing ever will.
  2. This isn't anything new. I reported from the basement months ago that sgm was an a-hole! He continues to try to convince us that he's an Akron fan first, yet knows the 3 deep roster of tosu's team from 6 years ago and would be hard pressed to name 6 Zips from 6 years ago. Just go away! What do you base this on? When have we had a conversation regarding the Zips? I've followed the team from 2000 (my first year at UA) on....from Butchie Washington to Carton Jackson...from Brandon Payne to Dennis Kennedy...from Dwight Smith to Reggie Corner...bash me if you please, but at least present things you can back up. I don't even know how - how would you know how much Zips knowledge I possess? Are you really that ignorant, or are you just hard-pressed for things to say?
  3. Haha yeah...I was watching PTI last week and they referred to the Browns "big time offense" and "pro-bowl caliber Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow, and Derek Anderson" and had to pinch myself lol
  4. So, you say....1st Round Pick Brady Quinn shouldn't have gotten many snapsThe Offensive Coordinator set Charlie Frye up to failSeriously?
  5. Banned for what? Having a minority opinion? And as I've said numerous times, I cheer for Akron #1, OSU #2...and it's not even close. I've noted this numerous times before...having trouble with reading comprehension?
  6. Hey...I just pointed out that he isn't an NFL starting-caliber QB. I wish that was different - it'd be great to have a Zip starting at QB in the League - but I'm not going to trade in my common sense and football knowledge for a pair of pom-poms.
  7. Not really. Not until Frye plays again. ALMOST everyone who was in Frye's corner for the last few years kept saying OVER and OVER, all we need is a semi-decent offensive line. DA has one. Isn't it amazing.BTW, the browns haven't had a consistently decent offensive line in 20 years. The pass protection is MUCH better this year than recent years, but the run blocking still sorta stinks (but the run blocking isn't the issue when it comes to comparing DA to Frye)I actually half-way considered posting a "kudos" thread for DA for his performance this year on this forum because of the DA/Frye debates that happened earlier, but I refrained from doing so because it's inevitable that the Frye bashers would come out and say "see I told you so". I will concede that there is no way to reasonably argue that Frye could have done definitively as well as DA has done this year, BUT, please go dig up the old threads. You will find that we did indeed plead that no QB would have done well with the offensive lines the Browns had over the last few years. Now that the browns QB has pass protection, how can an equal comparison be made?I will willingly concede I was wrong when/if Charlie Frye starts for another team and performs badly.Because Frye didn't do anything when he did have time...beacause Frye wouldn't stay in the pocket...because Frye wouldn't get rid of the ball, or look down field. I'll give you that the offensive line is much better this year than ever before. But with Frye's bad decision making and unwillingness to stay in the pocket, combined with his inability to throw the ball down the field, defenses are much more afraid of getting burnt by DA than they ever were with Frye. He was absolutely no threat to beat you...and they knew it.
  8. sgm405,There isn't a single poster on this board who took more crap since Frye's senior season than the great GP1. You should try to be as gracious and magnanimous as the great GP1. Believe me, I knew then I was right and I know now I'm right. No need to rub it in.To each and their own. When I'm personally attacked and even warned by an admin...for holding an opinion...and that opinion turns out to be dramatically accurate, I like to point that out. Sure, it's tooting my own horn...but hey, at least I admit it, right? Haha. Had Frye started and had the same success, I'm sure people would've bashed me in their celebratory topics/posts. As for Frye, he has nothing to be ashamed of. He's an NFL QB who's made millions of dollars. Not many can say that. He's just not an NFL starter, but should be able to stick as a backup. If Vinny Testaverde can be a backup at age 86, so can Frye lol.
  9. Well I kind of think the people who bashed me and said I knew nothing about football (based on me saying I thought Anderson was better than Frye) were assholes themselves. And yes...I am posting just to say I was right. When you get bashed and attacked like I did for simply holding that opinion, and it comes out to be that you were not only right, but that the debate's result wasn't even close - sometimes it's good to say "I told you so". Forgive me for not caring about what has happened to Frye, who, by the way, has given jack-shit back to UA since his graduation. Why people treat this guy like some sort of God when other UA alums - Jason Taylor, Dwight Smith, Domenik Hixon, etc - who are actually playing in the pros are always overlooked.
  10. Anderson in 8 games (5-2 as starter) 58% (28th)2108 yards (6th)264 YPG (7th)8.2 Y/A (4th)17 TD (3rd)9 INT91.7 RAT (9th)Sacked 8 times (T-1st)Meanwhile, Frye is an inactive, 3rd string quarterbackThis isn't to bash Frye fans - I respect and understand your support for the guy through thick and thin, and can understand why some put on some rose colored glasses during the QB controversy. But to those who said Anderson sucked, that the Browns front office had no idea what they were doing, that Frye was so much better than Anderson, that I didn't know a thing about football because I thought DA was better than Frye...What do you all think now?

  12. Hey guys...just thought I'd let everyone know that Wal Mart is now selling a nice collection of Zips gear - shirts, shorts, hoodies, jackets, etc - and all for a pretty good price. I saw them at the one in Fairlawn but I'm guessing they're all over. Also, Finish Line was carrying a #7 Zips jersey...pretty nice!Oh, and sorry bobbyake...I didn't see much Can't stuff. I know you're in the market for it.
  13. I'm glad you can understand it. I think one of the reasons I now dislike him so much was because I always cheered him on as a Zip, because the Akron faithful treated him like a God, and I always heard he was a great guy. And then to witness him being a complete and total asshole to a few Zips faithful - it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. No matter how much you want to think about all of the positive stories you've heard about the guy, you cannot forget what you saw.He might even be a really great guy...unfortunately, I only have one experience to base my opinion off of.
  14. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! bold face lies. You did not support him when he was a brown. I was there in threads when you and w00t were both basically equating him to shit on a stick BEFORE he got traded to the seahawks There's a biiiiig difference between SUPPORTING a guy and LIKING a guy. I SUPPORTED Charlie by hoping he'd do well to help the Browns win ballgames. I put my personal dislike of Charlie aside because I am a Browns fan no matter what.I don't LIKE Charlie because I witnessed him be a complete and total jerk to numerous people, an event that always stands out in my mind.Just because I say/said that he isn't a good NFL QB didn't mean that every Sunday I wasn't hoping to be wrong. Trust me, I'd much rather have Browns W's than me to be right about Charlie Frye. Unfortunately, I was right, and he's now #3 behind a freakin' wide receiver in Seattle...not exactly looking good for Chuckster. You can support your team without being a glorified cheerleader and ignoring what statistics and game results told us - that Charlie Frye was simply not a very good starting QB.
  15. Bobby,1) Even being a secondary Buckeyes fan, I thought the WEWS move to go away from the Zips game was bush league and said so. I even called another member of this forum to tell him so. 2) You can put a poll up if you want...hey, it might be interesting to see the results. But when I think of the matchup, and have to choose between:- Our hated rival, the team that actually creates shirts ripping and mocking Akron (albeit not very successfully IMO), the school whose fans chant "Fuck you Akron"...the school that is in ou r conference, who we fight against for MAC championships in multiple sports...the school that is so hated, our forum has "K-e-n-t" spelled "Cant"...ORRRRRRRRRRRRRR...- A school that is NOT rival, is NOT in our conference...that we only play a few times a year...the school that does nothing to our fans or our school, but gets more media coverage and "competes" with us for recruits...And you're going to pick school A?Shame on you, and anyone else who agrees with you...if anything, a Can't win would help them with recruiting, with would then hurt us in the long run. And you're going to wear their gear?
  16. He's in the perfect situation? Third on the depth chart behind a top ten quarterback and a guy the same age that was just signed to an extension?
  17. Nope...actually, I'd root for the stadium to crumble and both teams to lose via forfeit. But, if I had to pick, I'd pick Michigan to win.You see bobby...I don't cheer for Can't under any circumstances, let alone say I'll wear their gear like you did. Please, if you're going to say that kind of stuff, don't question the "fanhood" of others...you have no reason to talk at all.
  18. I cheer for everyone in the MAC...except Can't.And I know about a dozen OSU students and actually took the time to ask each one if theyd ever cheer for Michigan under any circumstances. One said only if it was against another Big Ten team to help OSU win the title, the others said no, they wouldnt, under any circumstances. It's your hated rival...you just don't cheer for them. And if you do, don't go bashing people who cheer for a school that isn't even in the same conference.
  19. you need to dig deeper into the forum. He had a post on here why he hates him. It had something to do with getting an autograph . He hates Charlie. If you don't believe me, start a positive thread about Frye and you know who sticks there nose into it. I do hate him and think he's a classless jerk, but I always cheered for him to do well when he was a member of the Zips and then a member of the Browns. That never took over my allegiance to the school. Now that he's a Seahawk? I don't care if he ever plays another down in the NFL. You see, I didn't let my hatred of the guy get in the way of cheering for my teams (Zips/Browns). So Bobbyake's jealously and hatred of Ohio State has led him to say he'd cheer for AND wear Can't gear? I'm sorry, I can't respect that...Can't State is our hated rival, Ohio State is a team in a different conference that we play every 4-6 years. I hate to pull the fan card, cuz I hate seeing others do it...but no real Zips fan is going to cheer for Can't State (unless they're playing Al Quida...and even then I think you cheer for a tie so neither wins).
  20. Can you read? The comment was to bobbyake...settle down buddy.
  21. You guys honestly think Can't State beating OSU would do anything for Akron? It would get coverage for a week and then everyone would forget about it and disregard it as a fluke or a one-time thing. One win won't do a damn thing...hate to say it. And any Akron fan that would wear Can't State gear disgusts me...Can't State is our rival, not Ohio State. You think OSU or Michigan fans root for the other to win? Ever? Do you think Duke roots for North Carolina in basketball? Ever???
  22. and OSU. I'd love to see Can't do it. I might even go to the game in Can't gear. You're talking about wearing Can't gear, and you had the nerve to question the Zips "fanhood" and me and others on this board? You're ridiculous...
  23. Not always...honestly...you think Frye was better?
  24. Jeff Garcia wasn't successful here because he's a West Coast offense QB. The Browns don't run that type of offense. It may turn out that this is the same reason Frye wasn't successful (not a pocket passer), but I'm guessing it's more that he's just not very talented. As for comparing the two games, sure, the QB rating might be higher...but can you honestly say with a straight face that Frye against Jax in 05 was better than DA yesterday? Especially considering DA got the win?
  25. He was 13-20 for 226 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 5 sacks.Anderson today was 20-33 for 328 yds, 5 TD, 1 INT, 0 sacks. Anderson also led his team to a victory...Frye did not. You honestly think Frye's game was better?
