He was asked about the Big East and he gave a general answer. I wouldn't read much more into it, at least not now. But it is interesting to think about. It's hard to believe that the Big East would seriously pursue Akron until it was satisfed that Akron's fan attendance at games, particularly in football, would be satisfactory, meaning crowds of at least 20-25,000 on a regular basis. Plus, the new stadium would probably have to be larger than what is currenty projected. Most Big East football schools have a 40,000+ capacity, I believe.The Big East does favor schools located in mid-sized urban areas, so Akron's got that going for it. Nobody ever mentions C-USA as a possibility. That strikes me as too much of a sideways move.
