  1. i'm pretty sure bgsu ended up in the top 25 for the 2003 season after beating northwestern in the MCB. that was urban meyer's last year there, i think.
  2. i just read where mickelson's caddy defended the choice to use a driver on 18 by saying that phil does not have the length with the 4 wood to reach the dogleg, so they never considered anything but a driver. until this tournament, i didn't realize that phil did not carry a 3 wood. watching monty impode was something else, also. one of the worst trainwrecks of an ending to a major ever, ranking right up there with norman at the masters and van develde at the british open.
  3. actually, i think that's a picture of bowling green.
  4. hey balki, your comments are over the line. i read this board to keep informed and once in a while to add my two cents, but i hope i never post anything as insulting to any person as you just did.
  5. i'm pretty sure that teams can play their "home" games anywhere they want. this is a way for bg and wisconsin to go for a big crowd and a big payday. maybe ua could do something like that? it would make more sense for the zips to play a bcs school in cleveland than bg.
  6. Obviously, it hurts them not having their stratagist on the floor, but the emotional edge this gives Temple has to be significant. My guess is that it hurts UA more than it helps. It was a tough draw, this makes it tougher.

  8. my sentiments exactly, but i guess people need to vent. i doubt the team was looking past toledo, but a lot of the fans sure were with the talk about the easy road to the finals and the build-up about the championship game, as if we were already in it. dambrot is an excellent coach. the team had a very good season. the future looks good.i'll be rooting for toledo in the finals.
  9. It's good to see you all haven't lost your sense of humor.
  10. ut's demolition of a good utep team in the gmac bowl was impressive. probably the high point for mac football for the year. they did the mac proud. and everyone i talked to thought akron represented the mac well. memphis just beat them that day, almost exclusively due to deangelo williams. no disgrace there. he's great. but really, this talk about how awful it is that toledo is giving raymond williams a second chance is a bit much to take. does anyone here seriously think that if williams was enrolling at akron and trying out as a walk-on that zip fans would be ripping jd? of course not. the toledo fans would be doing that!btw, the ut mcb blow-out last year against uconn was a direct result of their losing qb gradkowski and rb scooter mcdougal in the mac conferecne game against miami. ut went into that game crippled. their blow-out loss to boston college was because bc was the superior team. i love akron, but toledo's a good program and tom amstutz is a good coach and a good guy, and it's not being disloyal to akron to point that out.in any mac - non-mac matchup in any sport, i always pull for the mac team. well, except for one mac team. it's always fun to watch them lose.
  11. this may be too late to help you, but if you like italian you should try luigi's, a local place downtown, maybe a mile from UA. it's hard to find so it would be best to head downtown (west of the university) and ask somebody for directions.
  12. it's still very cool that they consider the pinnacle of achievement for game preparation to be an "akron effort." it's flattering, actually. we certainly would not be satisfied if all jd demanded was an effort from the team sufficent to beat k ent. that would mean a minimum effort.
  13. GO BULLS GO! GO BULLS GO! GO BULLS GO!
  14. He was asked about the Big East and he gave a general answer. I wouldn't read much more into it, at least not now. But it is interesting to think about. It's hard to believe that the Big East would seriously pursue Akron until it was satisfed that Akron's fan attendance at games, particularly in football, would be satisfactory, meaning crowds of at least 20-25,000 on a regular basis. Plus, the new stadium would probably have to be larger than what is currenty projected. Most Big East football schools have a 40,000+ capacity, I believe. The Big East does favor schools located in mid-sized urban areas, so Akron's got that going for it. Nobody ever mentions C-USA as a possibility. That strikes me as too much of a sideways move.
