  1. FOUND A NEW GREAT DEAL! I stopped in The Rally House in Macedonia (this deal is only for the Macedonia store). If you buy and Akron (or Kent) apparel (shirts, jackets, etc. not cheap stuff like socks), they will give you 2 tickets to tonight's game for FREE! My wife did one transaction and I did another (not supposed to do it this way) and got the four tickets we need for tonight. Great seats too. Section 110, Row #1!! Looks like that is opposite the visitor bench, so hopefully I won't be surrounded by Kent fans. As of noon today they only had 14 tickets left!
  2. Just cancelled our plans and are taking the family of four down tonight. Is the best way to do the lottery ticket promo? Anyone know for sure if they are honoring it for tonight's game? I went online and found that I can buy four tickets with all the fees for $180. Really? $52 of that was fees and convenience charges. Anyone know now what time the university will be up there selling their tickets? I could drive up in advance before those sellout if they haven't already. Thanks!
  3. Does anyone know if there are any current MAC Tourney ticket promotions? Specifically for tomorrow night should we win tonight vs. WMU. I know in the past there was a promotino with a non-winning Ohio Lottery ticket. Thanks
  4. What time is the game Friday? I hear the Thursday game is st 6:30. It sure would be nice if our conference's website had this information readily available!
  5. Akron lineup note: Chauncey Gilliam starting for Brian Walsh.

  8. When we beat Ohio at the JAR earlier this season, I felt the second half was the best defensive performance I had ever seen a Zips team display. In my mind, it was incomparable to any game I can remember watching. That was rivaled by tonight's performance. I just finished watching it on TV after being there in person. I was so nervous about this game after the emotional week we had that I didn't even realize how big our lead really was with around a minute to go!!! I will also not forget a brief conversation I had with Zeke after the Can't loss last week. I simply asked him if his team was going to be ready for Cleveland. He said that would be and that he would take it upon himself to assure that they got past the emotions. He and KD did just that. I especially love Terry Pluto's quote (so much so that I placed it in my signature!): When it meant the most, the Zips did everything better. That includes the grit and concentration needed to re-tool the team to replace Abreu, beat rival Can't State on Friday (62-59) and then demolish Ohio 24 hours later. -- Terry Pluto GO ZIPS!!!! :champs: :champs:
  9. Good to see the AKOldies banner. Sure wish we could have gotten that off of the ground! I still have the site up at www.akoldies.org
  10. The irony..... Foul shots almost cost is the game. In the end, it's what won us the game. Not sure if I can handle tomorrow night.
  11. Can't gave us this game at the free throw line. It's our own fault if we lose. 70% to 45% right now is the difference.
  12. At the Q. Always fun to see the battle of the bands. Even Can't's band sucks. Fun to see each time there is quiet our band inserts themselves without waiting to see what is supposed to happen. GO ZIPS!
  13. I am sure I am not the only person to experience what my son and I experienced tonight, but I felt compelled to post this so others can hear. Consider all that has happened in the last 24 hours. Then we lose on our home court to a team that was beatable. It is understandable considering the conditions. I was at the game with my 7 year-old son who's favorite player is Zeke. Has his posters in his room. Talks about him all the time. Tonight he wanted Zeke's autograph probably more than he wanted the Zips to win. We brought an 8X10 picture of Zeke and a Sharpie. After the game, we wandered down the hall and stood outside the locker room door. Coach Dambrot came out and saw him standing there told us to go inside. I was shocked! I asked him if he was sure and he said "sure. Go on in. He'll never forget it" referring to my son. Needless to say he was correct. He got his autograph and a picture. Zeke said some really mature things about leading his team and getting them ready for Friday night next week. Later, he was still waiting to get KD's autograph but he was already in his office in a meeting. Coach Thomas saw and and took his program in, interrupted KD and get him an autograph. I have a 7 year-old who is thrilled and very excited to be a Zips fan. GO ZIPS!
