Thanks, @Zipmeister & @zzx. I obviously shouldn't have taken Brayden''s word on his twitter page that he is a 3-star prospect ?
Well, hopefully he can at least provide us a little more depth/insurance at the position.
I hear ya. Yeah, I sort of posted that out of context. I wasn't going with the white oppression angle. I was just saying I was excited to see Treon in a Zips uni & really surprised/disappointed when he transferred before ever playing a down for the Zips. IIRC, Treon wasn't recruited by Liberty out of high school. So when he transferred there it caught me by surprise. But I digress...
Here is Myles Walker's hudl film. You have to scroll down 11 films (past his basketball films) to get to his junior year football highlight film. It's good. He's got a lot of speed.
Yesterday's verbals of Morgan & Singleton Jr. bring the '21 class to a current count of 20.
7 on offense
10 on defense
2 athletes
1 specialist
I've broken it down in a bit more detail on the updated Post #1.
Ultimately, this is the point of college athletics:
These coaches get these subtweets all the time. It breaks my heart to see all these young kids trying so hard but who will likely get no scholarship $$. For me, I think that might be the most difficult part about being a college coach - telling a kid there is no scholarship for him.
That video is at least a year old. And if that’s after practice, when ppl are joking around, I don’t have a problem with it. Players play jokes on coaches. Though the action’s identical, there’s a difference between if they did that joking around because they love each other versus if it was done out of true disrespect. Like the post-game Gatorade shower.
That poor coach got POSTERIZED!! ??
That sounds pretty cool.
I would, however, definitely miss seeing Buffalo on the schedule. Is Buffalo just left out in the cold? ?
I'd love seeing Toledo... twice. We need to stoke our rivalry with that school.
Hi Big Jim. Captain answered your question before I could chime in. I'll add that, no, I'm nor sure Janikowski is on campus.
Someone can correct me on this if I'm wrong, but I believe a Grey Shirt pays their own way to school for one year. Then they officially join the team at which point they then have 5 years to play 4, i.e., so they could redshirt an additional year. But like I said, I could be wrong about that.
Here is TJ DeShield's postcard. This was tweeted (is that the word?) on July 14th. So, yes, TJ is still a Zips QB.
It was Nick Demchuk, the walk-on QB from Benedictine who transferred. (I forget as to where... John Carroll, maybe?)
This leaves us with 4 QB's going into this upcoming season:
Incumbent starter Kato Nelson
Top challenger Zach Gibson
Security backup T.J. DeShields
True freshman Joey Marousek
As mentioned previously, this year's QB recruit is Ryan Jankowski, whom is already on campus and grey shirting this season.
I haven't read Marla's story yet, but it appears she's touching on something I've been saying for years: there should be no Athletics budget at UA; Athletics should be grouped under UA Marketing/Advertising.
