  1. Hey, let's give props to TW23! They're doing a great job in these broadcasts! Infinitely better than ONN!!!!!!!!!!! With last night's weather, it was great to be able to watch the game at home. And I'm excited about being able to see tonights Can't State-Miami game. Now we've gotta convince them to take this show on the road and to get us the Zipperss away games!!!
  2. I didn't venture out. I chickened out and watched the game on t.v. But on t.v. the Rowdies looked GREAT!!! I was pleasantly SHOCKED at the # of people at the game! Wow, getting 1500 to the JAR in that blizzard - great job Zips fans!!!
  3. This is the only time I would ever say this, but... Go Miami!!!
  4. I'd be in favor of a smaller horseshoe. Heck, couldn't we build a 20,000 seat horseshoe that could be easily expandable? But a straight-on east-west configuration could lead to some serious sun troubles. Since most of our games are held in the evening, the team facing west would have the sun straight in their faces. If you've sat on the eastside of the Rubber Bowl, you know how painful that sun glare can be!
  5. Because I lived in both Summit and the secondary snow belt. I always forget you guys don't get as much as we do. Thankfully we don't generally get nearly the snowfall that the snowbelt does. BUT RIGHT NOW WE ARE GETTING HAMMERED!!!
  6. Hey, lay off Timmyboy. I think he's just looking for something fun to do. I don't think ANYONE on this board honestly thinks anyone from Akron would/could ever win the heisman. I don't think the Heisman voters would ever pick a mid-major superstar over a BCS star. At least not in today's BCS-biased college football culture.
  7. Yeah. Just a few comments:1. MACReport ragged on us for not signing a RB?! Well, as already stated, Bryan Williams is a RB! (More talented than Morgan Williams for that matter - though Toledo will get Morgan for 4 years, where as we only get Bryan for 2.) And GARY PRIDE is a top RB too!!! Did they forget about him?!2. Yeah, I hope Morgan Williams does well. I wish he'd signed with us but, oh, well. But honestly, from what I hear, Toledo will be lucky to get him eligible. From what I hear he's not 'as dumb as a box of rocks,' or anything like that. I just hear he really struggles hard just to get passing grades. It will be a very real challenge for UT to get him eligible, let alone to keep him eligible.3. MACReport made it sound as if Matt Rodgers isn't a quality prospect because he was barely in the Pennsylvania Top 40. But he was ranked by Rivals as the 29th best dual-threat QB in the country! So, come on fellas. Talk about looking too hard for something negative. That gripe appears to be simply contrived.
  8. No way! And we should expect as much... on the Ohio college scene, unless you are from The Columbus State University, you get screwed as often as possible! Well, screw them!
  9. David's got phenom ability. But I'm a little apprehensive about how our new starting QB, whoever that may be, is gonna play. Harvey's gotta have passes thrown on target to win the heisman.
  10. Concerning Can't as opposed to our recruiting, I believe Can't is starting 2 freshman guards who are athletic contributors. Can't say so much about our frosh. After how he tore up in high school, I must admit that McKnight isn't doing what I thought he would. He was 1st team D-1 all-Ohio for crying out loud. Is that negative commentary about the quality of basketball here in the state of Ohio? Hopefully he'll turn a corner. But it doesn't look like it will happen this year. I had heard he is better than Romeo was as a freshman? Honestly, I don't specifically remember Romeo's freshman year, but I really have to doubt McKnight is contributing more than Rome did.
  11. Dude, I think the Z is pretty sweet too! They could utilize that more often, as far as I'm concerned. I think it is currently on the neck of the football jerseys, if I'm not mistaken. I remember one poster saying it reminded them too much of Zorro. But I doubt Zorro would be the first thing to come to most peoples' minds when they'd see the Z. But anyway, I agree, the Z is both sharp and cool!I also think they should clean up the football uni's a bit too. make them simpler. More classic. But I do like the gold helmet. I think it's classy. But, as mcperp suggested, a white helmet w/ gold accents may be really cool once in a while! But one thing I really wish they'd do, for basketball, is wear the GOLD uni's more often. For every home game, in fact! I love those gold basketball uni's - totally cool!
  12. This simply isn't the case anylonger. This perception was beginning to change even back when I was in high school (early 90's!) and is surely not the case any longer. How do I know it was changing then? 3 of the top 5 graduating seniors from my class went to UA. At the time, admittedly, we were a little surprised. But no longer! Presently, I've been privileged to work with 3 valedictorians of local high schools and they are all currently enrolled at UA - living in the georgeous new Honors Dorms! More than a few of their friends (top-notch advanced placement students themselves) are also enrolled at UA. These students could have gone to most any school of their choosing. They chose UA, and are glad they did! So your comment makes you sound like, oh, I'd guess a 40 year old? If not, then you are just out of touch. So kindly remain down in your hills and beware the dueling banjos!
  13. Don't they plan a catwalk to connect the new football offices in the fieldhouse to the new stadium somehow (probably to the pressbox?)? How do you think that fit would configure with a double-grandstand/north-south orientation? And likewise, aren't they planning on using the current fieldhouse locker room facilities for the stadium? How would that configure?
  14. Stony Brook?! What the...? Maybe we're not missing out on much afterall?
  15. Ryan Andrick was the most subtley dirtiest player I have ever seen! Constatly talking trash, elbowing, pulling jerseys, etc. He would have drawn a technical foul from me within 2 minutes! I loved watching him play... 'cause he was a Zip!!!
  16. I like the roo alone too! Didn't they have the roo painted on center court of the JAR a couple years ago?
  17. Hey Captain, any inside word yet as to who JD may be holding a scholarship for?
  18. Ouch! Okay, okay! Well, how's about the old school moving A from the Faust era, remember, it kinda had lines running through it?Or how about a stylish A somewhat like what either Alabama or the Atlanta Braves use? Just something, ANYTHING, on the side of our helmet that actually, from a distance, looks like an "A"?
  19. That's an awful schedule! We're not gonna average 10K next season! And I don't like the idea of a "home" game in Cleveland either! I think I'd rather have a home game at Fawcett stadium! We'd fill it up, that'd give us some good pub with Stark County, and it's 10 minutes down 77, as oppossed to an hour north in Cleveland. Screw Cleveland, for our image and identity we need a sharp distinction between Akron and Cleveland.
  20. Boy, I sure hope not! The first renderings we've seen are for your typical MAC-style glorified high school stadium! Unnacceptable!I was on GoZips looking for a Mack Rhodes bio and could not find one (strange). But I believe Mack comes to us from UTEP, right? So I then went to UTEP's athletics site to check what their football stadium looks like. One would think Mack may have a vision similar to UTEP's? Well, fortunately, UTEP's stadium is a horseshoe configured design. Somewhat similar to SMU's, though not quite as nice (naturally, it's not as new.) So I'm still hoping for at least a horseshoe configuration. A bowl would be even better! But a two-grandstand design (ala, the aforementioned glorified high school stadium) will be a complete and bitter dissappointment to all 1000 on ZipsNation (the Zips' most loyal supporters, mind you) and serve to fix us permanently in the muck of mediocrity that is MAC football. We desperately need the current administration to, as KD does, THINK BIGGER! So let's think higher, shall we, gentlemen?
  21. It was ironic that another post had begun moving in this direction, because I was considering starting this conversation a few days ago. I'll start it afresh here so it has it's own heading...I miss the moving A logo too! I don't really like the new kangaroo head logo! The new logo is too busy, and doesn't stand out on uniforms. It's also just kinda confussing because the "A" doesn't look like an A and the Kangaroo head doesn't look like a kangaroo! It looks like a freakin' DONKEY! I think the old cartoonish Zippy logo was great! I love the FEAR THE ROO slogan, that's gotta stay. But the most recent A-with-kangaroo-head is just kinda dumb. That's my opinion. What do you guys think?
  22. Sorry dude, you're just talking non-sensical smack now. We've got three 4-star restaurants, a national-class art museum, the nicest minor league baseball park in America, the nicest public library in Ohio, two beautiful theaters (and no, OU hilljack, we're not talking movie theaters) a symphony orchestra, Stan Hywett, the National Inventors Hall, private playwrite and dance companies, night clubs, coffee shops, jazz clubs and art galleries, Firestone C.C., and THE GOODYEAR FRICKIN' BLIMP!!! The list goes go on and on, but I've got a job to get back to...
  23. Thank you! That move is greatly appreciated!
  24. I started following Zips basketball during the Tron Jenkins era! Does anyone remember him? Jason Taylor actually played PF for the team the first year I started following closely. But yeah, Tron Jenkins may actually be my all-time favorite Zip! He could flat-out ball!
  25. Dude, that was awesome! Thanks for reminding me I'm getting old! Here's my memory test: #33 - Ryan Andrick#23 - Nate Shindewolf#32 - Jawanza Moore#21 - George Phillips#5 - Jimmal Ball (still probably my favorite all-time Zip, along with Dru & Rome, of course!)#54 - David Faulknor#44 - Jammie Bosley#3 - Adam Benton#4 - Ali (something)Bruce Weinkein was also pictured. But what was the name of the other tall blonde dude? And who were numbers 4 and 30?Does anyone remember?
