Miami also lost to BG...
-
I hate to say it, but I've found myself doubting KD a lot lately.
You guys are ridiculous.
-
I'm beginning to really think the MAC is against us. This is unbelievable. First the elbow BS and now this.
What were you referring to?
However, a BS around the rim and in three...
-
Oh. And can I add that this is a ridiculously poorly produced show. I love being able to watch an away MAC game on TV, but come on. The only thing missing from the young lady doing the halftime show was a round of, "And boom goes the dynamite!" Nothing like other game highlights delivered with such stunning description of, " And he drove the lane for the easy two. Then he passed out side and he hit the long range three!" Who would've guessed there were so many D1 players with the last name "He." Ad to that several poor cuts, including one at halftime to ANOTHER GAME rather than the empty court at Buffalo. Ugh. MAC=CRAP.

This is ridiculous. Zeke got called for it once against OU and again vs. Buffallo today. A Buffallo player also got whistled for one. These players aren't swinging their elbows or anything. They get the ball, pivot, and pass the ball to the other side and the defenders are up in their face and the elbow accidently hits them. I would call the foul on the defender most times because usually they are grabbing the arms. I know the officials are supposed to be emphazing this but I just don't understand. I'm done with my rant.
Both of those calls were ridiculous. If you want to make a case for a personal foul, maybe. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY either of those should've been whistled as a flagrant/intentional foul. It's going to be a long season if Zeke gets one of those every game, plus it'll retard his development as Reghi and company said, "How can he be aggressive if he gets an intentional foul just from pivoting at the top of the key?"

No offense to the dance team, but I pay as much attention to them as I do the remote controlled car race or that same guy that does the time out contests 60% of the time. That being said, it's not just the f-bombs that are the issue with that song. Like I said, haven't paid attention, but if that's right it should be a BIG embarassment to the University. What did they say at your wife's complaint, if you don't mind sharing?

FYI, Zippy tweeted that at 4:30PM the central interchange was closed at SR8 South.

Kitty Kat point of view, in case you were wondering.
This will be another tough MAC East game, and this season will come down, again, to the big 4 in the East of Akron, K-ent, OU, and Miami. The Zips have a little bit of an advantage playing 2 of the toughest 3 at home to start the first leg of MAC play. Let's take advantage and get on a streak in the MAC and hold that lead through a tough second half.
Akron 68
OU 63
No line posted yet., but I look for it to be in the neighborhood of Akron (-6).

"Lose Yourself" with a much better video to go with it, followed by Thunderstruck for the pre-tip music...LOVED it!
It was well done except for the terrible cut right at the beginning. Just play the whole song.

I'd be in also.

I'm plenty excited for the game tomorrow. When I put the schedule down on the desk calendar at work, this one gets circled immediately, regardless of when it's scheduled. It's the casual fan I worry about. I'm guessing this game doesn't sell out (which UA can thank the MAC for), but still draws between 4700 and 5200. This, unfortunately, combined with the egg last year, will lead to a higher percentage of K-ent contingent as opposed to the 90% UA we had last year. The U hasn't given any indication of how ticket sales are going, other than the cursory, "Tickets are going fast! Get yours now and avoid missing the rivalry game!" blurbs.

Playing to win puts the focus on winning and keeps you on your toes. Playing not to lose puts the focus on losing and sets you back on your heels. You're more likely to win by staying on your toes than on your heels.
Losing stinks, period. But, as a fan, I'd much rather see my team lose while aggressively trying to win than lose by desperately trying not to lose.
My friends and I were actually lamenting the same thing from the stands watching the game. It seemed we were doing a great job pushing the ball and beating ORU in the full court and breakaways. Then shortly before halftime the style of play began to change...I'm not sure if it's a lack of depth thing or conditioning or what (though neither of the other two freshmen saw the floor), but it was frustrating. We settled into the halfcourt game, had very little inside-outside action and quickly melted away our lead(s). One thing that would help, in addition to some stronger post defense from Zeke and Nik, would be to post up BMcKnight. He probably has the best post game on the team inside of about 8 feet.

AND Can't STATE STILL SUCKS!
QZ, love your previews, you do a great job putting a little research behind an opinion. And here's my obligatory whine: It's sometimes kind of hard to read them when they show up as one big block paragraph. Don't take that as meaning I don't appreciate your work.
On an added note, a quick search of the Portage County Clerk of Courts website shows a preliminary hearing of 1/14/10 for Carlton Guyton on Felony Theft charges. So to those of you who thought the typical "slap on the wrist" K-ent punishment would happen (myself included), and this guy would be right back on the court, well...he won't.
I think the Zips are starting to turn themselves into a team that's very competitive with the K-ent style of play, and we'll see the beginnings of that in the home game this Saturday with a Zips win. I'll already predict a split for the series this season as I think these teams are the cream of the ever-so-weak crop in the MAC this year. Next year, we'll see the full fruits of KD's remake of the roster. If the risks in Harney and Treadwell pan out...look out next year.

He must be closing in on that record.
And as far as AA, WOWOWOWOWOWOW.
This is the first true ATHLETE that the Zips have had that U can remember.
He will mature and play smarter. But I hope he keeps playing with abandon.
Ditto for Diggs. He made a very bad decision on the break, but it is so nice to have a guy on the floor who can make things happen.
It was an exciting game to watch, absolutely. The Zips still are prone to those long scoring droughts, which struck twice in the second half evaporating 16 and 10 point leads. It was more drastic with Abreu on the bench with foul trouble. His ability to create plays will only get better, and it's hard to believe he's only played 14 college games. The chemistry with Zeke and the others will be fun to watch over the next couple years.
Speaking of Zeke...that block on the dunk was about the most fantastic defensive play I've ever seen in person. I didn't think there was any way to recover as the offensive player blew by him but boy did he. I really hope that shows up in the highlights on youtube. The crowd from that point fed the Zips for the next 5 or 6 minutes, it was as loud in there (with 2,000 people) as I've ever heard it. It reminded me of the fact that if we ever average 4500-5000 fans a game and 75% of them didn't sit on there hands, what a home court advantage we'd have.

Not sure I get this thread...
-
What a hideous game...fire up the email and thank BCU for letting us have this one. Only thing to make you feel better is that it won't be often that the Zips go 1/11 on 3s for the first 37 minutes of the game. Glad we got hot and brought this one home...there's some difficult games on the horizon, including opening the MAC vs K-ent and OU.
-
BMac in for a couple quick post buckets. Appears he's been preparing to come back and in basketball shape. These guys are fast and giving us fits. One guy on the roster over 6'7" and we're losing the rebound battle.
-
This is downright terrible. Shades of K-ent last year. We've yet to be in the game.
-
No TV for this one unless you pay for Zips Zone. Not a good matchup for the Zips so far...very quick and athletic BCU team up 9-4 early. All Zips points coming from Zeke.

How about National Champion Avenue on the side street in between the stadium and the fieldhouse!!
Like this idea a lot. How about a more visible street than a small alley?
First thought was to rename East Exchange St. But, more practical would be the Brown St. extension
between Infocision and the track field.
Any one with other suggestions?
LOVE this idea. Would be relatively easy as well. Big walking thoroughfare for sporting events, we'll need an oversized street sign

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned anything about Caleb's contract extension to 2020!!!

Fantastic news. Glad to have guys like Caleb and KD buck the trend...now for that pesky American Football...

Let me be a politically incorrect realist for a second. Haywood got that job because of his skin tone. Had he been white, he'd still be at Miami. .....
Thanks for sharing your inner self. It makes it easier to understand some of your other posts.
Save it, you can keep your warm and fuzzy "I'm this really tolerant, white-guilt ridden white guy who wants everyone to know it even though I've never talked to a black person in my life" act for someone who cares. I grew up in a majority black school, my teammates were majority black throughout my entire athletic career, and those teammates are some of my closest friends in life who are like brothers to me, 3 of which were in my wedding. You're not gonna sit here and imply that I'm a racist just so you can feel all nice and politically correct, when all I did was state an obvious truth. It's because of j@ck@#$es like you that people are afraid to have honest conversations in society.
Pitt has never had a black head football coach and I'm sure the fact that Haywood was black factored heavily into their decision to reach for him. I'm sure if there was a white coach in the same position, Pitt would've probably looked elsewhere or been more hesitant. Skin color is a fact of life in football coaching nowadays, with teams at all levels under pressure to hire black candidates, especially teams that have never had a black coach. I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, as it's given guys like Mike Tomlin an opportunity to succeed where in the past he'd probably still be a secondary coach somewhere. This thread implied a possible analogy to RI. I was simply saying that RI is not as likely to get a big job offer after one good season like this guy did.
Orrrrr it could be that he turned a 1-11 team into a 9-4 team and conference champion in two years. You can believe whichever one you want, but that sure was a $hi++y comment.

Well, I've got to be honest. Thus far, this seems to be a very mundane MAC-level recruiting class iCoach is putting together, doesn't it?
With iCoach's recruiting reputation (but not much of a reputation for anything else), I was really expecting more 3-star recruits than what we currently have.
While I'm not impressed either, remember to not put too much weight in the "stars" from recruiting sites. How many of our past 3-star guys have gone on to be actual stars?

This is what the "big boys" want, and will likely happen, in some form, upon the demise of the BCS.
