  1. Well, it looks like I'll have to take a day off work to steal one of those highly sought after troughs from the RB.As far as Miami goes, this is a quote from JD on GoZips.com -- “It is disappointing to lose our rivalry with Miami for this year, but it will be nice to host Ball State and see us play Eastern Michigan for the first time since I’ve been here."There is another article where Mack says we will play Indiana in the first game at IC Stadium on Sept. 19, 2009, one week later than the original Kentucky game. Also, I was poking around at Miami's message board to see if they know anything about us not playing each other. It seems Akron, Miami, BG, and Temple all play 5 MAC East teams and 3 MAC West teams. Only Buffalo, Can't, and Ohio play all 6 MAC East teams, and Western Michigan only plays 7 MAC games, 11 total.

  2. All right!Hold the ball your shootin'Cuz I'm about to ruinthe scoring and assists that ya used to.I'm on the ZipsAnd you know you're on my list nowI'm about to make the MAC say "Wow!"I hope you're ready for meCuz you're about to seeWhat it means to beA-K-Rowdy!My name is Humpty, pronounced with an 'Umpty.' To all the top scorers in the MAC, please allow me to bump thee.I dunno....something along those lines I guess. I'm done now...

  3. By the way, if I had been your dad, I would have made you cut your blue hair! Nah, not really. Glad to see you and LeBron got floor seats yesterday!
Actually, the blue hair is beginning to fall out. I bought that wig the season the Zips football team won the MAC and it's been through some tough times. I think in a couple years, it'll be the Bleacher Bum Hulk Hogan Horseshoe. Ah well, at least I've been an AK-Oldie for a year so it makes sense if I start losing some blue hair.
  4. Just got the OK for a half-day from the boss, will yank one of my kids from school at 1PM ("appointment"), and will be heading to Cleveland for the first of HOPEFULLY three more games this week. As I said in another post - love the bracket. Let's Go ZIPS!
Why couldn't you be my dad when I was growing up? It is times like these that I love the fact that I get up at 1:30 in the morning to leave work by noon. God Bless the Day Game! (At least for me). I don't know what student turnout will be like for the first game.
  5. I had read that Can't already had this as a home game and gave it up when BC offered to pay to move the game. If they really wanted to try and get a W, they would have kept it at Can't.
I thought the "Patriot" Bowl was supposed to be MAC schools against one of the service academies. Hence we played Army last year.EDITED -- Nevermind, I just saw the note in the article. It's still stupid.
  6. A co-worker of mine has a friend who works at Comdoc. Sounds like Comdoc is handing out a bunch of freebies. I now have four of them and plan to beat the bushes to find four warm bodies to use them. Not gonna tell them they have to sit on a wood plank for 2 hours, possibly look through glass and a rail to see the game, or step on people to get out of the GA section to go to the restroom or purchase a bottle of $2.75 water. ;)
Well gee, now I can't figure out why they don't sell the place out every night!
  7. At the Rubber Bowl, we always blast the Top Gun Anthem when a plane comes in to land at the airport. My favorite moment was at the Patriot Bowl, being able to rock out to the entire Top Gun soundtrack while the Thunderbirds performed...Until Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" came on, then we just repeated between the Anthem and "Highway to the Danger Zone."

  8. In regards to the YouTube video, seems to me like the Rowdies are getting a reputation that they can't spell. Umm...where is the University of Arkon? It's also Miami University, not the University of Miami."To bad, so sad." ---- should be "Too bad, so sad."Do they teach English at Akron? Or are you going to Arkon?I understand what you tried to do, but you didn't help the cause that much.

  9. Speaking of being packed in like sardines...I made my first trip to "The Big House" last year for the OSU/Michigan game. I don't know how the attendance capacity increases every year but they never add seats. That was the most uncomfortable experience ever, and it was raining and cold. And I enjoyed every minute of it.
