  1. I understand. It would be interesting to get Air Force on the schedule or another game with Navy (although Navy may not want to play us as we came back to beat them with Brandon Payne and that loss seemed to shoot down their program that year - ala our North Carolina State win).
Navy would be sweet, but I don't think we would stand a chance against them.
  2. No disrespect to you Bleecher Bum, as I remember you at the Can't away game two years ago as the last man standing with our flag in the Endzone, but I went to the Army game this Summer and had a great time. The Cleveland air show was fantastic and there was beer/brats on mall 'C'. I'd like to play a Service Academy every year (too bad the Patriot game idea was cancelled). They are very competitive with the MAC (Army kicked has us around a couple a times in recent memory) and it wasn't too long ago that a game with a Service Academy was impossible. I love the tradition and prestige that Army has, and I like the tough young men that they put on the field. To me, a win over Army means something despite their rank in Saragrin.
I have nothing against Army. The Patriot Bowl was a blast tailgating with the air show going on while we pumped the Top Gun soundtrack, but this is now the 3rd year in a row we've played them. Trust me, I remember them shutting us out at the Bowl and ending our MAC Championship hopes at the time and I remember us taking them down at Cleveland Browns Stadium. I'm just sick of seeing them. I'd rather take on a team I've never seen before.
  3. I wish we'd break out gold uni's. The white are fine, but nothing special; kinda ho-hum boring. I love the gold uniforms look. Very cool. Every school in America has a white uniform. Gold? Not so much.
Those gold uni's from two or three years ago were nice. I remember being pissed because they gave them to all the RAs and I never even saw them for sale anywhere. BTW, the good guys will probably be in blue tomorrow.
  4. Dont I recall chatter last year about that cinci game being moved from the rubber bowl down to cinci for next year? This would put us at our quota of one home game before the middle of october.
Am I the only one getting sick of playing Army? Isn't this 3 years in a row?
  5. sitting here watching the Can't OU game and I couldn't help but notice that bubba isn't starting
Bubba's not playing at all. They're saying he suffered a concussion in the loss to the Zips. But we all know he's suffering from a bruised ego.
  6. It is kind of a toss up for me. The idea of undefeated teams is cool along with putting ourselves in great position for a bye in the first round of playoffs, but I just don't want to root for Can't. I guess I am rooting for a 4 OT game that leaves both teams exhausted.
I'll do the same thing I do every time the Steelers play the Ravens. I'll be rooting for injuries.
  7. Yup, one thing I've really noticed about the VAST majority of Zips' fans (and appreciate) is that if a player is hustling, we love them and support them 100%! It doesn't matter if a player has a bad game, or a bad season, or isn't as talented or naturally gifted as we'd hope. As long as they're hustling, we absolutely LOVE them and are the biggest homers on planet earth! We honestly care about our players as people, and don't just care about wins-and-losses or on-court production. That should take a lot of pressure off you guys; just go out, play hard, have fun and, win or lose, we love ya!Go Zips!
That's exactly where the Rowdies love of Nate Linhart began. The MVP chant started because it was about the same time Cavs fans were chanting "MVP" for LeBron and he missed two crucial free throws at the end of a game. The following night, Nate Linhart dove and fought for a loose ball while the Zips led by 20 late in the game. I said, "Screw LeBron, that's my MVP." It's fun to cheer for wins, and boo the losses, but you have to respect the dedication and heart the most.
  8. GoZips88...I remember last year's game. I think it was projected to be a sellout (Bubba's first return to Akron), but a heavy snow that day created a lot of no-shows. I sure hope the change in the start time doesn't produce too much of a negative effect this year. But, there will certainly be some people who will be staying home because of it.
I remember a ton of Rowdies planning on booing Bubba and the team as they got off the bus, then I remember 3 of us actually doing it.
  9. Can't just picked up two votes in the AP poll today. I know we got OU on Thurs and BG-STD on Sunday, but next week's game at the MAC Center could be epic. They are at Miami on Thursday and at OU on Saturday before we go up there on Wednesday. The MidMajor Top 25 is set to come out later today. Currently Can't is 8th, and we are 9th.

  10. All I can say at this point is, Lord help us if pairings are made on the basis of the lame RPI.Projected Pairings
His post says glance up or down 5 of the team across from you. That puts us against either VCU, Marist, Georgia Southern, Indiana State, UC Santa Barbara, Siena, Davidson, Wiconsin-Milwaukee, or Wichita State. It wouldn't be CMU or Ill-Chi for obvious reasons. I'd be for UC-Santa Barbara, mostly for the return trip next year. Can you say AK-Roadie Trip to Cali?
  11. How was our crowd? how many Rowdies traveled to the game across the borders? Is this becoming a Rowdy thing? are they going to come to BG, Miami etc...?
Zips fans dominated one of the upper corners. There were 25 Rowdies total. Pretty sad considering the group bought 50 tickets. But with students not being on campus, it hurt us. That's really what hurt Buffalo's student section also. They only had 6 people in their student section. When I was there two years ago, it was packed. Lets hope when UA students all get back to school this week they all show up for OU. As far as other away games go, I'm not positive which other games we'll be going to, but I'm sure there will be a few. A couple of us are planning a trip to CMU in a few weeks.
  12.
Slum lords don't understand the word 'appreciate.' They guy who owns the Sun bar is an idiot. He should have made plans to sell and purchase a new building across the street or in the area to capitalize on the stadiums traffic..
 no...he should make UofA give him enough money to buy a new piece of property and/or bldg. since they want where he has been for YEARS...
Don't you guys realize that the Sun Bar was once named as one of Playboy's Top 100 College Bars? Come On! That's history!!!
  13. ESPN.com says 46-26 at the half. Being at home in Lorain I have no way to listen to the game on the two radio stations. Just tried the car and got nothing. Can anyone give us updates?
You can listen to all the games online for free at www.sportsradio1350.com.
  14. After a summer in Connecticut, Middleton was a changed man back on the Akron campus. He had replaced his corn rows and the Afro with the corporate close crop of a young professional. And nobody recognized him.
So that's what happened!!!Nice read. Maybe Ced should follow Zippy to Channel 3 tomorrow. I know it's not as glamorous as ESPN, but hey, ya gotta start somewhere.
