  1. Let me just say THANK YOU for the wonderful support you gave to our hoops team. You guys and gals were just tremendous this season. I'm a 50 yr old alum that has supported the program and held season tickets for many years. It seemed like many of those years we were alone on an island in support of the Zips but you guys have made a ton of progress in a short period of time. The JAR has been fun place to be again and a lot of the credit goes to you. My wife and I go to several road games and thought it was fantastic how you turned out in high numbers at Toledo and Can't as well. We still are not where we need to be as a fan base, but rest assured that as you continue to grow so will the enthusiam of the general community which will lead to the betterment of the entire program.Again, GREAT JOB !!! See you in Cleveland.
  2. Now I love him even more.Coles was asked about the prospect of the Zips getting zip from the NCAA.''It's criminal,'' he said. ''Akron should be in the tournament. The one bid should end. People talk about RPIs and other teams and I don't even hear Akron get mentioned. I don't see the difference between Akron and some of the others.''I don't see how they can't get in. They're going to have 25 or 26 victories, I mean, gee whiz.''Thanks, Charlie
  3. To say McKnight has not contributed anything is very unfair. While his minutes are limited now due to the talent in front of him, you watch and see that in time this kid will be remembered as one of the better big men to wear the blue and gold. Maybe you just can't see enough of it yet, but he's very solid in every aspect. Against Peay he made a play that just impressed the hell out of me. He got the ball down low on the block and the defense swarmed on him. Rather than force one, he quickly kicked it back out for a wide open 3 ball. Very heady stuff for a frosh. Chris also owns a nice soft stroke, great footwork for a big man and he defends well too. He just needs the minutes and he will get them when Rome graduates. I do attend every home game and have done 5 roadies so far this season so I've seen a lot of him. Mark it down now, Chris McKnight will become a BIGTIME STUD for the Zips. To say he does not contribute anything and placing him in the same class as Rybak is an ignorant satement.
  4. One of you students with some decent computer skills could bring a large poster of a trailor park, perhaps with a photoshop of a smiling Bubba peering out the window of his fine double wide. Call it "Bubbaville" I would laugh my ass off. That should help Bubba feel the love.
  5. I agree that its not yet time to think about next season, however since you brought it up I think that the '07-'08 Zips team will be very, very good. Do not under estimate the impact Chris McKnight will bring to the floor when his minutes will increase. This kid has a real presence on both ends of the floor with a pretty nice stroke to boot. I think that everybody will be surprised at just how good Chris can become.
  6. Copy and paste from a website that I check on occasion. We'll see how accurate this is tomorrow.Note that this update was as of 1/23BracketBusters Update 1/23 The top of the BracketBusters standings remained fairly static and will likely do so until the matchups for the 102 teams are announced next Monday, January 29. The television schedule will be finalized on February 5. Here is an idea on what the TV matchups would look like as of today.ESPN2 GamesSouthern Illinois at ButlerNorthern Iowa at NevadaDrexel at Missouri StateBradley at HofstraAppalachian State at CreightonHoly Cross at Wichita StateESPNU GamesUtah State at Indiana StateOhio at New Mexico StateWinthrop at VCUSam Houston State at Long BeachEvansville at George MasonESPN360 GamesOld Dominion at AkronAlbany at Toledo
  7. Ced and Dru were fantastic tonight. Correct me if I am wrong but Dru went to the hole more times tonight than I've ever seen him in the past. We shot way more free throws because we took it to the hole. That young ref ( the short guy, I don't know his name but he's new to the conference this year) is incredibly bad. I've seen him work 3 times this year and he seems to get worse with each outing. The other two whistles were very Zip friendly tonight.
  8. About lost my coffee all over my keyboard, thanks for the laughs.
  9. Like the under @137 tonight. Defense will be at a higher level for this big one. If the zebras let them play a bit and not blow foul after foul this one should be somewhat low scoring, as I feel that its Can't's only chance to keep this one close. That other team has been successful in creating points off of turnovers, but I don't think that will be the case tonight. I look for Keith to keep all theee guards on the floor a lot tonight in order to promote solid ball security. Akron 69Can't 60
  10. Looks like we will find out when we get there. If he does not play or is limited, YSU + 8 seems very attractive. I'll take a 7 point road win any day.
  11. Getting ready to trek over to Youngstown but wondered if anybody had any info on Dru tonight??
  12. Anybody who refers to rhe Pinnacle sports book as "Pinny" gets my respect as a seasoned veteran of the wagering wars.
  13. hmmmm, under 144 is worth a look, The Zips offensive numbers have been inflated by some inferior competition, but their defense is very good. I also watched UIC play Illinois last week and they can throw down a little D
  14. The above should have read "All horizon and mac schools will always be lined when playing div. 1 competition with the exception of opponents from a hand full of minor conferences and some independents.
  15. There will be a line on this game. All horizon and mac schools will always be lined when playing div. 1 competition. I'm not sure what ratings you use but I can assure you that no reputable power ratings would rate Akron as a 50 point favorite against anybody under any parameters. The line will be released early tonight, and if I were making the line I would make Akron a 1-3 pt favorite. The Flames are a dangerous opponent and this a tough spot on the schedule for the Zips, especially off the layoff.
  16. Nice try, I have no clue. I have spoke with our A.D. and others close to the program and am well aware of the infamous veto by a highly rated team that is an hour and a half from here, as well as some of the other rejections. My only point was that there was little value in spending 1K FOR THIS YEARS SEASON PKG. No more, no less.Get a freaking clue yourself jackass
  17. Gary brings much more intensity tho the Vikes than Garland ever could, The Vikes will be much better, especially on the defesive end of the floor. CSU will no longer be a pushover and Gary won't let them quit on him when things are going bad, like they did so many times under Garland.I thought tonights result was predictable.
  18. Oh thats right, we're not at home till Dec 9th.Can't believe I shelled out a grand for this home schedule
  19. Could it possibly be that we did not under achieve this season, but vastly over achieved last season? Thats the way I see it
  20. All I know is that on my renewal notice (which was custom printed for us) it said that my Z fund donation would be $250 per seat if I wanted to keep my center court seats. When I called to purchase, I was told that my Z fund gift requirement had been doubled to $500 per seat. I'm almost certain that it was $250 last year but greed has taken over.Guess what Zips ??you can keep them. Now instead of two passionate fans in their seats at every game who don't have cash to burn you can sell them to a party with loads of cash, who may show up for half of the games and sit on their hands.Nice move Akron
  21. My hats off to the Rockets, on both nights they possessed a grit and determination that I did not think they had in them. It would have been interesting to know what would have happened if they threw their full pressure trap on Can't State just a bit earlier, because like Akron, Can't struggled with it.
  22. If you purchase through the Zips ticket office tou will only be charged if the Zips play saturday night. You can pick up your ticket at will call at the Q
  23. Would not miss it, I'll be there with my better half for all three games.
  24. Have we received word if Futch will be serving a one game suspension after his ejection vs.Can't?? I browsed but could not find anything.
