  1. Congrats to Hixon. I hope he gets a Super Bowl ring.Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Best of luck to him!
  2. Beside no rosters, there was NO halftime show. I've never been to any FB game without ANY halftime show, and the Hula Bowl always used to have a great presentation at the half. No more. I was a proud member of the Hula Bowl halftime show from 1991-93. We wore hideous yellow and red Aloha shirts, but man it was fun!
  3. Correct, the webcast is using the feed from ZipsVision, so you are going to get stuck with what is on the board. At this point and time, that is the only option for webcasting the games, unless someone can come up with the bucks for equipment and a crew to run a webcast. This was something the old External Relations staff was working toward, but I don't think it is high on the priority list for the new crew (sadly).
  4. Care to mention any names OldZipper? http://www.risemag.com/main.cfm?actionID=g...articleId=11833Scroll down to No. 20 and 21...
  5. I believe that it alternates and this year it is the GMAC's turn to pick first.
  6. They have had their '08 class wrapped up for a long time now. And it is a good one.
  7. Zips face Colgate/South Florida in second round. Ryan Anatol, assistant coach for USF, was a graduate assistant at Akron in 2003 and 2004.
  8. It's all about the RPI. The third one released last week has the Zips at 12, which would put them in a good slot for a bye. The only question is how much these games against low RPI teams NIU and Buffalo hurt them. You are better off losing to a high RPI team than beating a low one.In any case fingers crossed
  9. Nope, between 5:30-6 on ESPNews (and it is usually always closer to 6 )
  10. Congrats to Caleb Porter and the boys for bringing home yet another MAC title. Now it is time to wait and see if they are rewarded by the NCAA committee for their high RPI (12th) and 15-3-2 record. Go Zips!
  11. Ken is a phenomenal person and coach. I am pretty sure his team will be playing in the tournament this year. That said, I like what we have going on at Akron right now under Caleb and I think the Zips are going to keep growing to maintain a consistent presence on the national level.I hope everyone comes out and supports the Zips on the 16th!
  12. Difference is, last year our RPI was in the 40s, hence no at-large bid. While it is better safe than sorry and I think they will win the whole thing, I think the committee would have a hard time keeping out the No. 12 RPI team since that is what they weight the most.In any case, congrats to Caleb and the boys. That makes Caleb 2-for-2 in MAC regular season championships.
  13. Also of note, Elliot Bradbrook and Ossie Michaelsen were named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team today. Congrats to two great young men!
  14. Mack didn't hired Caleb...that was all Waddell.
  15. Also named to the Soccer America Team of the Week today. The Zips are playing some good soccer right now, but they need to get through this tough four-game road stretch. Buffalo on Friday night will be interesting. I hear the soccer coaches have organized a Rowdies bus up to the game.
  16. Zips are back in all four national polls:NSCAA/adidas- 22ndSoccer America- 25thSoccer Times- 19thCollege Soccer News- 18thNow they just need to take it to NIU this weekend!http://zipsnation.org/forums//style_emotic...efault/macc.gif
  17. Akron did have tickets... probably since sometime in August. But standard practice is that any unsold tickets must be returned to the host school... usually at least a week in advance. Some of the bigger schools require them to be back even sooner.Didn't have the foresight to get them early? Call the host school ticket office and tell them you would like to sit in the visitor section.
  18. Adam Zundell (former Maryland soccer SID and current soccer writer for ESPN and College Soccer News) has a nice little tidbit on the Zips this week:http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index_files/Page475.htm
  19. Injuries is the reason for lack of substitutions.
