Maybe a band room? (crosses fingers)

How about we re-create the arch/gate from the open end of the RB... I know it would mean a lot to band members past and present.

I actually had that idea the moment I heard that the king of the stratosphere was no longer with us... Believe me, I'll be pushing for that one. This is exactly why I started this thread. For you to throw out ideas for us. What do you want to hear? ...and be specific.

About the CD...Look for one this summer, we recorded one at the end of this season, and it is is in the post production stage at the moment. I will post here as soon as I know more.Also... Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming.

Would anyone like to see the old gate/arch from the end of the rubber bowl make a comeback in the new stadium? (refurbished of course)Also, don't forget about the Marching band:-it'd be nice to have our own section, with no railings in the front, so we could get in and out easily.-maybe a band room, or at least some storage space built into the stadium a la OSU

Hey, im in the band, so i have never bought tickets...but, how soon before the game does the ticket office open?

Keep the horseshoe design, and re-create the iron gate and arch at the open end of the Rubber Bowl... Band wouldn't be the same without going through the arch before pregame.

I think what my friend was trying to say, was that th $200 that we get, is an amount so small (considering how many hours we put in) that the thought of someone doing marching band for the money would be rediculous.As far as perks go, we (the band) are all extremely grateful to the athletic department for their support of the bands. But it is not the athletic department that has issues with our style. Which is why I started this thread. To see what the band can do better. Self improvement. Word on the street is that our new AD is intending to make Saturdays into more of a "college game-day experience" which means we all need to do our part; the fans, the team, the band, the cheerleaders, and the random drunk fans.

I've noticed a lot of dislike of the marching band's repertoire, so let’s open discussion on the topic. Post suggestions for songs, or cheers, or halftime shows; any suggestions about the band that you want. Please try to stay positive. If there is a decent response to this post I will personally present the suggestions to the Director of Athletic Bands here at Akron, and maybe we will use your ideas next year.

Are you guys honestly comparing Akron's Band with Can't State’s band?!I know that I am partial to the Zips, but as far as musical skill, we outclass them in every way (Akron's school of music is one of the best in the state)As far as rowdiness, I personally made the refs threaten a technical foul (I was whistling WAY to loudly) just last year.If you want your band to be nothing more than a gang of hooligans, that’s one thing. But I think we should hold ourselves to a higher standard than our rivals.

...and as far as the apathy of the band, it is a self perpetuating cycle. If you treat the band like losers, they feel like losers, and then act like losers. So if you want a good, energetic band...Cheer with us at games, clap for us, help us do our job.

Unfortunately it would be quite difficult to make a CD of including the "Blue and Gold" our primary fight song...because we don't even own the rights to our own song. I believe it still belongs to the Fred Waring estate. We can't make CDs and sell them unless we own (or at least have rights to use) the content.
