I'm glad to see the concern addressed openly, which is all i wanted. I don't have a problem with taking chances on guys, and I know that there are going to be some issues when they do. Best to be up front about it and how it will be handled.

Keith Dambrot took Akron to our first D1 NCAA Tournament appearance in 23 years (back in 2009). He took us there 2 more times. He brought LeBron to support our team and university....and did many other good things for UA some of which we may not all be aware. He is a fellow alumnus and Akron native. He is a good man and a good coach. Why can't all of us just thank him and his family and leave it at that.

Zip ME someone reminded me a few months ago that this is an anonymous sports blog...so try not to read so darn much into my postings. You don't know me or anything about me.
I commented on what you stated...hence the words "seem to" which was in my edited post and had been my intent with the original. So, I will point out the same.

Well if anyone cared to do a little research they'd Nunn and Paul were kicked off the team. Tate had his charges dropped. So as a matter of fact I feel comfortable that of anything like that were to happen here, Groce would handle it the right way.
Thank you. That's reasonable to me.

Anything else? Are you finished or is there are some more accusations you want to throw out there?
No accusations...just posting about your posts. Would you like to clarify the meaning of them?

Because right now a possible future criminal charge on a player not yet on the Zips team isn't high on my priority list of things to care about.
I agree that I'm not so concerned now because it hasn't happened. However, it is beyond disgusting to read the cavalier attitude some of you seem to have about assault and domestic battery.

At Illinois, he had four players arrested in one year (one was previously arrested the year before) in the 2015-2016 season.

I see your concern.

I heard Groce saying somewhere in all of the press conferences and interviews today that Hawaii is still on.
Why would he cancel it. Come to Akron, get a trip to Hawaii.

Groce has plenty of skeletons, but instead of the closet they're in jail.
How many? What were their crimes? Sometimes you take a chance on a guy and it works out; other times it doesn't. The ones that don't work out should not discourage taking chances. You need to be smart about it, but you're going to get burned from time to time. Huggins had his problem children along the way, but he did quite well at Cincy, K State, and WVU. I'm happy to say he did so at Akron, too.

Let the self-righteous, pat-each-other-on-the-buttocks love fest continue....
Never said I didn't like the hire. Although I'm not from Missouri, I need any coach to show me that he can do it at Akron before I claim that he is JC of Akron MBB.

Don't know what to think about hiring Groce, but here's some food for thought while we're posting tweets...

Independent is no different than staying in a 4 or 5 member MAC. No auto berth in NCAA Tourney.
-
Something that many who follow collegiate sports seem to forget...the players are student athletes. The actually have to attend classes. If Zips Mens Soccer were to go to Conference USA, then I think that it is time to start scheduling more out of conference games in the east. Why do we schedule UCSB and make that long trip when we could get an east coast opponent 1/3 the distance away.
-
Conference USA travel would be tough, especially for cash-strapped UA...Charlotte, FIU, South Carolina, Kentucky, New Mexico, UAB, Old Dominion, Florida Atlantic, Marshall
The 4 in bold would definitely require air travel and the others are significant bus rides.
-
In 2016, we needed the auto bid.

Well, we're screwed with no automatic berth for the MAC in the NCAA Tourney. I knew that the MAC should have never kicked Hartwick out.

sunday night on ESPN2....former zips galore
9 p.m.: Portland Timbers vs. New England Revolution ESPN2, WatchESPN, ESPN3.com
I wish they would schedule west coast matches at a decent hour for people in the east who work. It's a Sunday for cryin' out loud. Play the freakin game at 1 or 2 pm PDT (4 or 5 pm EDT).

How many Zips fans at the meaningless bowl game? I don't understand why everyone wants to make it basketball vs football. There are many other less value-added sports to take aim at.
Because Football is the big sinkhole that continues to damage the University of Akron.

Is women's soccer playing a Spring Schedule this year? They did not last year. Not having that extra development time is huge.

Dix Stadium - 20,500
Doyt Perrty - 23,724
Yager - 30,012
Info - 30,000
Peden -24,000
UB Stadium - 29,031
Glass Bowl - apparently 26k, but had record 37k once.
Husky stadium - 24,000
Kelly Shorts - 30,255
Rynearson - 30,200
Scheumann - 22,500
Waldo - 30,200
Looks like we have a pretty middle of the road sized stadium compared to our peers. Seems reasonable to me.
So, where are your numbers on the percentage of those seats that have been filled in the last 1, 5, 10 years (average attendance)?

For those who are complaining about KD being disloyal and decimating our program, look at what UA did for Football and has not done for Men's Basketball. Who's disloyal to whom? I smell the stench coming from Buchtel Hall in this situation.

Yes, UA screwed over the then Bob Huggins - led Zips Mens Basketball Program in favor of football. They've done so again to Keith Dambrot.
