  1. My two cents: Looking at Wikipedia, TO appears to have a more extensive set of statistics, but JT seems to do better on character

No word yet on what team (or league) he might be going to? I hope he is able to stay in MLS.

I think MLS is doubtful at this point, although Kofi Sarkodie was picked up by the Earthquakes after the start of the 2016 preseason, if I recall correctly. Perhaps a lower level team here in the US or Canada or a team somewhere in Europe. If Europe, I'm thinking perhaps like Zarek Valentin did for awhile before joining TimbersFC.

  3. Parchman: Why Darlington Nagbe shouldn't be judged on goals and assists

...The reality, though, is that Nagbe is a wholly different sort of player. He is a tactical marvel unto himself, and perhaps shifting the locus of concern specifically off what he does on the scoresheet and onto his concrete impact on the flow of the match itself will utterly change his perception. And it should. ...

  4. U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team head coach Tab Ramos has named 24 players to an 11-day training camp roster as the U.S. team enters its final stage of preparation for mid-February’s 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which will send four teams to the 2017 FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup in South Korea this May.

    Roster by position:

  5. I understand the emphasis on more football coverage. Larry Wiliams, et al, need to find a way to fill seats in Infocision Stadium to justify the expense of the Football Program. The problem is that throwing more good money after bad isn't going to solve that problem. Bowden needs W's. Getting to and winning the Potato Bowl (lowest paying D1 bowl), then going backwards the following year is not going to get it done. The Potato Bowl was a good step forward but there was no foundation for the next step. Personally, I'm done with it. Mostly because it's the same ole same ole...nothing new. But also because if they can't find it in the budget to provide more $'s for their best team sport, then I will...even if it's not that much of a bump up and comes at the expense of another Zips sport that is lower on my list.

  6. USA 0, Serbia 0 | International Friendly Recap

...NAGBE STARS: Timbers coach Caleb Porter recently noted that Darlington Nagbe's best position was wide left and the 26-year-old proved him right on Sunday with a showing that MLS fans are used to seeing: exquisite touch, slippery movements and the ability to maintain possession and jumpstart the attack, including from his own half. ...

Paul was good, but the staff of GAs was also deep.  Sean Palchik is very good at what he does, but the SID group is very thin in both talent and numbers as far as GAs go, and Sean is up to his eyebrows with the sports in-season.  Paul had two sports to cover...mens soccer and track and field, Sean does mens soccer, womens basketball, indoor and outdoor track and field, cross country, and is second chair on football.  Add to that at least one vacancy in the GA ranks and it's easy to see  why there is less mens soccer coverage off season.  Just sayin'...

@ZipsVoice if you are someone inside the Athletics Department (even if you are not), please take this as constructive criticism, as it is meant...Sean's coverage of Zips Mens Soccer during the season was practically non-existent. Mens Soccer is the only Zips sports team that has won a team national championship and consistently gets to and makes deep runs in the NCAA Tournament. Whether you're personally a soccer fan or not, you cannot deny that interest in the sport continues to grow significantly in the USA. I saw numerous tweets yesterday about the upcoming national signing day for Football and nothing about soccer signing day...not a peep. With the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers in the hex for the 2018 World Cup and the CONCACAF Gold Cup games that will be held in Cleveland, and will likely have former Zips involved, it's incredible to me that UoA does so little to generate interest in our program. I suggest getting Sean some help rather than making excuses. Is there no way to involve an undergrad who might volunteer so that he/she can add the experience to a resume? Perhaps the undergrad does the "leg work" but Sean finalizes the release.

Come on, ME87.   They were protesting throughout DC and elsewhere, and breaking out store windows, as he was being sworn in as President.  He hadn't signed a single document yet, or enacted a single policy.

FYI...The President DOES have powers that do not require Congressional approval.  And as far as the courts are concerned, if a Presidential action is ultimately proven to be beyond his power by the Supreme Court?  Then they need to abide by that and find another course to enact their policy.  I'm fine with that.  Then the country is working the way that it should.

I didn't defend destruction of property, etc., but Trump is the most divisive president I can recall in my lifetime.

As far as "The President DOES have powers that do not require Congressional approval." I didn't mean to imply that he can't do things without Congressional approval, but he is subject to the Constitution, laws written by Congress, and interpretation by the courts. He's not a dictator as much as he'd like to be.

I disagree with your comment about "Some elements of our society respect the results of elections, even if they disagree with the policies of the new official, because they understand that the person elected was given the authority, by the people, to make such policies.  That's respecting American democracy." Rioting is not respecting American Democracy, but peacefully protesting is not disrespecting it.

Educated voters look for the facts themselves.  Blue collar folks finally got tired of automatically voting for Democrats who hadn't helped them for decades, and stopped believing what mainstream media was selectively dictating to them.  How else can you explain why our state, especially, turned a loss into a resounding 10% victory in just a 4 year span?

Don't you think that's a very bitter, loser mentality to imply that people who support one candidate/issue did so because they didn't know any better, and that the other side was actually the more credible voters that followed the facts?

Not a bitter, loser mentality at all. The reason for representative democracy is that the general populace can't be expected to be as informed on issues as needed to make good decisions. Some think that Trump's actions make us safer. Others believe that he is making us less safe by providing fuel to help our enemies recruit. I fall into the latter category.

The great thing about the American form of government is that no one person is "given the authority, by the people, to make such policies" carte blanche. He must do so within the laws enacted by Congress and interpreted by the courts.
