A redirect is such a simple fix to an annoying problem. Whatever reason they had for not doing that long ago, I'm glad it's not an issue any more.

Huh. Now it works.I understand that there could be issues when you have so many subdomains to keep track of, but this is something that should always have a high priority. When people want to learn more about a website, they go to the top-level domain first, and use the navigation on the home page to find what they are looking for.It's something that can affect prospective students' perceptions about the school. If they get a brochure or something with the URL on it, they probably wouldn't bother typing in the www part of it. nobody does that anymore. The website is the first impression that a lot of people have of the university. What would it say if the first thing that happens when you type in the url is something like this?It just doesn't look good. It's just one of the small things that seem to add up until you get students holding conversations about how the university can't do anything right. I'm tired of hearing complaints like that.

Do they not understand DNS or redirection?Why is it that I have to type in the "www" subdomain to access the site? Why can't I just type in "uakron.edu" into my address bar and go to my university's website?This isn't 1999 anymore.gozips.com doesn't have this problem.

NC State is not a good team. They will be lucky to have a winning record this year.

Just wait until we shock NC State again. Looking at their forums, we're considered an automatic win. Their complaining will be loud enough to reach the national media, and that's when we'll start to hear about getting some votes even if NC State sucks.

Yeah, a coaching change usually results in a poor recruiting class, but I am hoping that the other factors are enough to offset that a little. We have a new stadium and fieldhouse, we have 10 TV games this year (a trend that is likely to continue next year), a university committed to athletics, a nice campus, all of which are things that weren't there before. We should be in for an average recruiting class, with a few great players sprinkled in.

The rivalry is affected by many things. The basketball rivalry bleeds into the football rivalry and vice-versa.It's pretty strong, and there's always something to keep up the intensity, like the last-second wins the past two years, and their stadium being vandalized.

This list is now updated as of Nov. 2nd.We're starting to see more MAC schools beating us for recruits. And apparently JD offers every single high school player who is considering Pitt.

Look at our past D-IA hires and where they came from.Faust was a former BCS-type coach.Lee Owens was a high school coach.JD Brookhart was a BCS coordinator.Washed up BCS coaches rarely work out for smaller schools. Coordinators don't have the experience of managing an entire team, especially if they are coming from another program.In contrast, Dennison was hired from within, starting out as an assistant coach under Gordan Larson. He came up through the program and was familiar with it. If we can't get a top 1-AA or D-II coach, I think it's time we looked inward. Look at how the defense is playing. Maybe coach Fleming, free from JD, could shape up the team. Maybe Walt Harris can coach the team.

Brookhart has signed a new five-year contract, a reward for leading the Zips to a pair of firsts last season.After nearly two decades of disappointment since moving up from Division I-AA in 1987, Akron won its first Mid-American Conference championship and played in its first I-A bowl game in 2005.Brookhart's contract, announced by the school Wednesday, will keep him on the Zips' sideline through the 2010 season. The deal replaces a five-year contract the 41-year-old coach signed when he was hired in December 2003.The Zips are 17-16 in Brookhart's two-plus seasons. They finished last season 7-6, including a 31-30 victory over Northern Illinois in the MAC title game and a 38-31 loss to Memphis in the Motor City Bowl.Ah. I knew it expired either this year or next. I thought I had read that it was after this year.

I saw this on the BigSoccer.com forum and it got me thinking. Could Bunbury win the Hermann as a Sophomore? He has 14 goals and 3 assists and he will have plenty more games to add to that. Could he beat Zakuani's total from last season?Watching him every home game and a few away games, he hasn't developed his shot as much as he can, and is relying on his size and athleticism to overpower the opposing defense. If he can work on his shot he could become an extremely lethal forward, way more dangerous than he is right now. If he can do that before the end of this season he would almost certainly go pro, and get selected early in the draft.

It will not be necessary to delay the start of the football game. The Soccer game will end at 7:45, barring any overtime.Hopefully the BBall game will be well in hand by the time the Soccer game starts. Or we could wait until the BBall game is over to do the "I believe" cheer with the team, and then march out as a group of fans to the Soccer game. I just hope they don't turn anyone away when they get to 2,500. If that's the case, we'll have to leave early to get in.Don't forget that this saturday is also a double-header, with the Can't football game followed by Soccer vs. Hartwick.

Z.I.P., this year was the next level for the program. It was far more than anything they have ever accomplished in the short 9-year history of the team.I would be content with finishing in the top 4 in the MAC every year, maybe making a run in the MAC tournament every other year. When that becomes the norm, you can start thinking about moving on to wining the MAC consistently and then worry about the NCAA.I think that next season the team will take a step back, but if the coach can limit it to a minor one then this season can be used as a stepping stone.I think the success of the men's team is helping the women's team to improve. You see it often at basketball schools like UConn. Akron is becoming known as an elite Soccer school and that reputation can benefit both teams.

The ladies didn't come out with the intensity needed to win a tournament game. They looked the same as they did during the regular season, while Miami took it to another level.

UCLA just lost 1-0 to Creighton (RPI #53). Additionally, Wake Forest lost 1-0 to Boston College (RPI #29) yesterday.That, combined with our win over Penn State, should put Akron back on top.

They're still mad that their own fans vandalized their stadium? I guess I would be mad too.
