http://www.altoonamirror.com/page/content..../id/511778.html Another piece of the non-conference schedule comes together.
-
For the past two years on offense, and the past 5 years on defense, I've noticed one consistent thing: the playcalling and schemes aren't set up to take of advantage of the talent we have on the field. We're running plays designed for player types we just don't have. Or maybe we do have players that fit the required style but the ball goes to someone else who is expected to perform just as well with a different skill set.JD needs to sit down with his coordinators and position coaches and draw up some stuff that takes advantage of our players' talents. No running sideways with a RB who does best in between the tackles. No passing behind the line of scrimmage to WRs who are best used as deep threats. No more using our great DL guys in a scheme that they aren't suited for. And for the love of all that is good, NO MORE HIGH SNAPS.

Hello everyone from sunny Florida. Yes, there are good teams in the MAC East, and one of them is The University of Akron.Like you said, just win the east. Six wins could do it for us. We are at three and we need three more. That would put us at 4-4 in the MAC. Don't forget that we use overall conference records now, not just the East. I would say that 4 more wins should do it. Only win three more and we're setting ourselves up for a tie-breaker scenario.Besides, I think Akron should be able to win the rest of the games we have left, looking at the schedule.

Lets talk about the word consistency for a minute....Its inevitable for even the most consistent receiver to have an off game....granted at the cinnci game he did have a couple dropped passes in the first quarter...i would be juss a lil itchy if I was playing against a team that was nationally ranked for the first time in my career against a real NFL corner. And now in his first BIG RIVALRY game that actually means sumthin...shit happens. Not making excuses he my brother and i expect him to catch and make a play with every ball that touches his hands...but when it comes down to it....no one was making that catch like that in the end of the fourth quarter other than Bowser. Nothing against Andre Jones...They complement each other perfectly I feel...different play styles. Andre is serious! Clearly the chemistry between Bowser and Jac still has a long way to come (coming from some1 who has seen what happens when there is QB-Bowser chemistry), but it is growing. Maybe Camp ending knee surgery may have haltered that process...i dunno. What you see isnt what you get...sometimes its the receivers fault...sometimes its jac's fault...watching the game you wouldnt know...trust me.If u need proof Uafan go to youtube and check out the highlight tape....same shit he has done to JC corners...he has now done to NFL corners...(not the Can't corner...LOL)Turning one of your worst games....into a game winning acrobatic TD catch and a 20 yard catch that put igor in cash money land...sounds like the makings of a resillient football player.Figured we might be hearing from you soon on this topic. Don't worry, we still love him. If you look at what our wide receiver corps was supposed to look like before the season started, Deryn is a HUGE upgrade. He has made some very big plays this year, almost seems like he gets into a zone when things get really tight. He has a ton of talent which is why I think people get frustrated with him when its just the "ordinary" part of the game and that same focus doesn't always seem to be there. Believe me, we're happy to have him here. That pretty much describes Bowser the best. He is incredible once the pressure is on. If he had that kind of focus the whole game he would unstoppable. Unfortunately, that's still an area that he needs to work on.

Buffalo is solid. They are now the favorite to win the East. We play them at home in an emotionally-charged game. The Zips just need to keep winning. 3 more games to be bowl-eligible. 4 games to win the East.

I really thought we would benefit from not playing Miami. Now, I would trade our Ball State game for a game with the Redhawks without hesitation. In other news, Army helps make us look good by destroying Tulane 44-13.

How in the H did we win that game?

http://www.ohio.com/news/break_news/30470379.htmlHere's a gallery that pretty much sums up the whole game in just ten pictures. Good stuff. -
Good for us. We get a shell-shocked BG team that will be playing on the road. We're fresh off a Wagon Wheel victory and spirits are high. Let's knock BG out for good on Saturday. I hope everyone will be there.

What took so long? We were happier the longer it took but that was one long review. The whole game took so long because of TV. I'm sure they delayed the ruling just to give the announcers some more time to talk.

Clutch plays by our biggest stars won the game. Bowser is Superman! Igor is clutch once again. B.Will was causing chaos all game and saved us a few times. -

I'm with you, for the most part. I'm sick of seeing our WRs get line up at tailback only to look lost out there and get tackled for losses. The only scenario that could possibly justify keeping this guy benched would be if Andrew Johnson is guaranteed to return next week. Even then, we're still down Alex Allen. Tuzze is a good guy and gets yards when needed, but his play style is more of a blocking fullback than a consistent runner. -
That should put us back in the top 5.Great job guys! keep working on bringing that MAC championship to Akron once again!
-
Haha! That's awesome!Congrats to Zeke Marshall: Homecoming King!
-
Anybody catch the attendance? There were whole sections without any people in the stands. It was nearly empty on the pressbox side. The whole time I was there, I kept thinking about how much more awesome the Info will be. It's got to be around 3 times taller.
-
Bowser should get the game ball. That dude almost single-handedly kept us alive, with the TD and with a huge catch to set up Igor's winning kick.Other than Bowser and Igor, it was an ugly-ass game.Dennis Kennedy averaged something like 1.5ypc and we kept doing boneheaded plays like reverses and plays that only go sideways.2 of Jacq's INTs were the fault of clumsy receivers, but one was all on the QB and there were several more that we're lucky didn't happen.
-
We should win by at least a touchdown. We can contain running QBs this year. Just look at how we fared against Army's option and Cinci's scrambler. We've seen Edelman before, and we know what to do.
-
On top of that, three-year starter Dennis Kennedy has suffered almost game to game with leg cramps. So the Zips maybe looking at taking the redshirt off a true freshman for the game this Saturday at Can't State.Let's see what Pride can do.Pride has been playing as a WR this year.
-
That's interesting to hear. We need to have depth at RB. The season started with three backs who could all be the starter, who we were all comfortable with running the ball. Now we're down to one of them. Tuzze is able to get yards when needed, but I don't know about his ability be a consistent ball carrier. Gary Pride is an unknown at this point, although I remember when we recruited him that he was considered a great prospect. Devoe has the most potential, but the trouble of burning his redshirt makes him a question as well.

AK-Rowdies will be wearing their white shirts. Can't usually does some variation on the color of piss. -
You can see the the central tower, which rises even higher than the rest of the press box, starting to form. This thing is TALL!
-
Looks like the Zips have the right idea.
-
We have lots of young talent at RB that we haven't seen yet.
-
Who knew we had royalty running around Lee Jackson Field?I sense a new nickname to shout during the player introductions.
-
Glad to see there wasn't a spine/neck injury. I hope he can make a return soon.In the mean time, JD said he will make a decision who the back up RB will be behind DK sometime this week. I just assumed it was Gary Pride, since he got a few snaps against Cinci. Maybe there will be some type of competition in practice.
