  1. http://www.ohio.com/news/break_news/29752039.html I thought those properties were already demolished. Either way, it's good to see another loose end tied up in this whole eminent domain mess.
  2. I haven't seen a single preview that has us scoring more than 17 points. That's how much we got at Wisconsin with unknown quantities (WR corp and no B.Will at RB), and it was our worst point total of the year. Cincinnati's defense is not as good as Wisconsin, and we know what we can do. Jacq will be able to tear apart Cinci's secondary with Jones and Bowser running around out there. They think we are a run-first offense when that's not true at all.
  3. I think the Bobcats are a better team than their record may indicate. From watching two of their games, I have to think that they will be a tough opponent for us.I agree. It's not like Zip victories at Peden Stadium have been plentiful.Starting 0-4 ruins a team's psyche. Sure, they start out strong, but they will fade as the season goes on and they realize there is nothing left to play for. Their season is already just two losses from being eliminated from bowl contention.
  4. I don't care how much Wisconsin was paying us, I still would rather have had Kentucky as our stadium opener.
  5. We play Ohio, Can't and EMU. I like our chances against all of them, even if they are on the road. That would get us 5 wins, plus a home win or two and we become bowl-eligible.
  6. Cinci is apparently taking over the softball fields above the stadium. I'm not sure how that will work, because I don't know if you can park on them, let alone set up tents and stuff.
  7. Looks like they're pouring a wall.
  8. Nice weather will bring more fans. Nobody went to the BSU game because of the flooding rains we had the night before and during the first half.
  9. So, how does Akron's play break down by quarter? If you've watched them at all in the JD era, the answer will not be a surprise.1st: 20 - 212nd: 37 - 303rd: 3 - 354th: 45 - 24What does it mean? It means that we play about even with our opponents for the first half, but then right after half time the bottom falls out and we are forced to play catch up in the fourth. Why can't we score anything in the 3rd quarter? Is it because the other team has adjusted on defense but our offense sticks to the same plays? That doesn't work, and we have seen it not work for years now. UA seems to make a name for itself on being a comeback team. I would rather not have to be desperately clawing back into a game before we win. Maybe the discrepancy is mental. Jacq always fades after two quarters, but putting him in a hurry-up offense seems to wake him up again. We should play a 2-minute offense all game, it's what the playbook and players are best suited for. So what if the defense is out on the field more often if we're winning. Why do you think we suck so badly in the 3rd quarter?
  10. http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=341&f=1604&t=3048917Looks like they're having a hard time figuring out where we stand. They're not the only ones. This will be the final test before we pummel Can't, and then take on the rest of the MAC. This game will show just where we actually stand.
  11. http://www.ohio.com/sports/29523939.htmlSam Serves, a great former UA player and fan, has passed away. He was only the second guy at UA to ever pass 1,000 career points. I doubt there are many people who read the boards here who can remember seeing him play, but I'm sure some of you know him as a great fan of the basketball program.R.I.P. Sam.
  12. Sorry for the pun, I couldn't resist.http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/news/s...a9-19c107131df8Jabari will sign with the Calgary Stampeders today. This isn't unexpected, but it's nice to know that it will be official.
  13. I'm pretty sure they pass more than they run on offense, even with the backup QB. I don't think our offense will have too much trouble, assuming we don't have tons of turnovers like against Ball State. We have more of a shot than anybody is giving us credit for. This would be the biggest home win ever, and what's great is that I am actually optimistic about pulling it off.
  14. Be sure you guys are able to pack up quickly and can get out of there in a hurry, so you can make it to the Men's Soccer game being played right afterward.
  15. I take this as a sign that UA finally figured out what we knew for years now: UA marketing is so far removed from what it should be that it is a joke.
  16. Athlon does absolutely NO research beyond the top few teams in the country and a few lower teams with fanbases large enough to mount a visible complaint.
  17. If we didn't have a game plan focused on stopping the run against an option offense, the entire defensive coaching staff should have been fired.
  18. hopefully we can get the students to show up in force otherwise we are gonna have an away game in our own stadium :blink:There was a fairly good student turnout for Ball State, considering the weather and other factors. I think it should be better this week. The university has begun bussing students to and from the game, which helps quite a bit. They might be gone after the 3rd quarter, especially if the game is out of hand, since the Men's Soccer team plays back on campus right after the football game.On the bright side, at least we don't have a "home" game at Browns Stadium against OSU like Toledo will get next year. 95% of the fans being for the other team isn't good for player morale.
  19. Cinci is bringing around 10,000 people. The tailgate lot will be swarmed unless we can get as many people as possible to show up.
  20. Not when Can't loses to UL-Lafayette 44-27. I'm surprised no one has made a new topic regarding this. Can't is going to get pounded again next week by Ball State. In the East, we're miles ahead of Can't, and we're better than Miami (1-3) and Ohio (0-4). We're about on par with Temple and BG. Buffalo seems to actually be the best team in the MAC East. Ball State is by far the best team in the MAC right now, and we could have had a very close game if we didn't come down with a severe case of butterfingers.
  21. Please define this. What is spectacular fashion? In D-1A football, a road win is good regardless of the score. I actually consider the win at Syracuse to be a blowout at 14 points. With that said, Army lost to UNH a couple of weeks ago. I feel good about our chances.I'm using the term "Spectacular fashion" in a relative way. For Akron, a win by more than two scores is spectacular. So, a 15-point win at minimum. If we struggle to beat a team that bad, even if we do win, it's a very bad sign.So it was 19. Are you happy?Sort of. I expected Army to at least score a TD since their whole offense is about the running game. I'm not happy about all the dumb mistakes, but that seems to be the trademark of the Zips.
  22. I was thinking... who will be our 3rd RB? We're all excited about Devoe Torrence, but don't forget that we have Gary Pride waiting for his shot. Pride is a year ahead of Torrence and would allow us to keep him redshirted.
  23. Tough call, but that how I'm choosing to take it! Imagine thinking that your FBS school should beat another FBS school 1000 out of 1000 times. This blows away 6-sigma! I hope we CRUSH the Orange on the return visit to the Info. Before they come here, we play them on the road again next season. We'll beat them again, no matter who they hire as a new coach.
  24. Do you know what was said? I wasn't paying too much attention to the player introductions. It's possible they crossed a line, but then again the word "suck" apparently offends enough people to get you kicked out of Big Ten stadiums.
  25. They must be lurking here, because it's now fixed.Good thinking getting a screencap to save it for posterity.
